In this in‑studio episode of KARAMO, host Karamo sits down with 18‑year‑old teen mother Kaylee and her 19‑year‑old boyfriend Darius to discuss Kaylee’s pregnancy, their high‑school relationship, and a DNA paternity test. Kaylee explains she grew up without a father and lost her mother to lung cancer, while Darius admits to a history of anger, violent outbursts (including punching a stop sign and kicking Kaylee and the baby out of the house), and a past “bad hoe” reputation. The couple recounts a six‑month breakup, arguments over infidelity accusations, and Darius’s denial of needing help despite police involvement. After a tense dialogue about doubts over paternity, a DNA test confirms Darius is the father of baby Grayson. Both express shock and a desire to break the cycle of absent fathers, with Karamo offering therapy, financial aid for diapers, and emotional support. The episode blends personal storytelling, conflict resolution, and practical assistance for the young parents.

Nice to meet you. Nice to meet you. You look very pretty.
Thank you.
Yeah, you look gorgeous. What's going on? What are you feeling?
Just overwhelmed.
Yeah?
No, it's okay.
Come here, come here, come here. It's a lot for you, right?
I know.
Like, I grew up without a dad, and I don't want my son to grow up without a dad.
I feel you. I feel you. I understand. I understand. We're gonna get you some answers today. Okay. Okay, and give you some support, okay? You feel comfortable in coming on out?
Yeah.
Okay, come on out. It's good. It's the family, they love you. Take a seat for me. Yeah. So Kaylee, I think I wanna first just make sure everyone understands that you're 18.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah. So this is overwhelming for you and a lot. So I know that you told Darius that you were pregnant on April Fool's Day, but has he really been having doubts from the beginning?
When Grayson was born, he came out a little white and he said that it wasn't his because Darius is of course Black. And I said, "It is his." And I said, "My little brother that's 4 going around saying my sissy had a brown baby." I said, "So if a 4-year-old can tell that he's brown," I said, "So can you." [Speaker:KARAMO] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Tell me about the 6-month break. What happened?
[Speaker] We broke up for like 6 months because of arguing and his anger issues and I just couldn't deal with it.
So— How long did y'all date?
We was dating for like a year and a half.
So like, it was like senior year for you?
Sophomore year till junior year. And then we broke up and then I found out I was pregnant halfway my junior year. And then for senior year I didn't go to school. I finished online and finished early.
Got it, okay. Got it, good for you. But this is your high school relationship, your high school love? Got it, okay. Were you with anyone else during that break?
No, he swears I was with other people, but I never was with other people. I hung out with my mom's best friend. She took me in as her own when my real mom passed away, so I called her mom.
Yeah.
And so I've always hung out with her. She would never let me hang out with no other dudes because she knew Darius.
Yeah. So you, I know you said backstage that you didn't have a relationship with your father. And now you tell me that your mother passed. I'm so sorry. How long ago did your mom pass?
Back in 2018.
Okay.
She got diagnosed with lung cancer. They did surgery and it went up to her brain and she ended up passing away.
Got it, okay. So there's been a lot of loss for you with not having your father and with your mother loving you. And so this other woman has stepped in and be a mother figure. Got it, okay. And so tell me what has happened in the past 2 weeks with you and Darius.
A lot. He has a lot of anger issues. He broke his hand by punching a stop sign. He ended up kicking me and the baby out and threw all my clothes outside. And that day him and his granddad got into it because his granddad likes me, and he tried stopping Darius from walking the door on me and the baby.
Oh my gosh. So what do you normally argue about?
I don't try to argue with him. I try to keep it away from it because I don't like arguing around the baby. That's toxic. And, um, good for you. He just tries— I will say something and he'll put it into him as an argument, or he'll get an attitude with me and I'll get one back and then it just creates an argument.
So this is your first serious relationship, right? Got it. Makes sense. Are you concerned about Darius's anger issues? Because you brought it up a couple of times.
I think he needs help.
Yeah.
A lot of help.
Yeah.
He says he don't. The time the cops got called with him kicking me out, the cops tried taking him to go get help and he denied it. He's denied it several times, but he's told me after the show he's gonna go and get help, but we'll see.
You're here for a DNA test to prove that Darius is the father of your child. Okay, well listen everyone, I wanna talk to Darius, so everyone please welcome Darius to the show. How you doing, Darius?
Pretty good.
Nice to meet you.
Nice to meet you.
Okay, so you called the show back in January.
Yes, sir.
What, for the DNA test? Why?
Because she used to joke around and say I wasn't the father. Whenever, the first month after he got here, she would tell me that, we would get into arguments and everything, you understand? Like, relationships always have, you know, ups and downs. But when we have our downs, she would go, oh, I'm gonna take my child somewhere else and say, oh, you're not the father of Grayson.
Did you do that a few times?
I have said my child, but after I just think it's a mother instinct saying it's my child.
[Speaker] Yeah, you're not being petty with it. Is there a little bit? Because, and lemme tell you something, you both get grace. You're 18 and 19. So if you were immature, no one is gonna judge you. It's not like you're 40 or 50 saying these things. You're basically kids who are now on this journey to raise your own child or potentially your child. And so it's one of those things where it's, if you were doing that, I do understand there's a mother instinct, but if you would, I wouldn't blame you. I wouldn't because your feelings are hurt. You're trying to figure out how to navigate this. So if you said something like that, I wanna let you know that I personally would not judge you for that choice. So why did you kick Kaylee and the baby out of your house?
I would never kick her and the baby outta the house. The only reason I put her outside the house is because how you kept joking around saying, "Oh, Grayson's really not yours. You're raising somebody else's kid." Okay.
And why did that doubt hit you so much?
Because that's not a joke. You don't joke about saying you're raising somebody else's child. Regardless of how much you were joking, that's a human being that needs priorities before anything else.
Okay. And my producers have told me you didn't want kids.
I did not. I really didn't want kids. I never wanted to be married, no nothing. But as soon as I saw her, she's the most gorgeous woman I've ever met. I said, you know what, I'll give it a shot.
Why not? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. You all got together and you had your 6-month break, did you date or sleep with anyone? Yes.
I wanted to, but before her, prior, yes. I used to be a bad hoe.
I did.
I used to, you know, I have about a high count of a body count. I would say about 30 plus. And the town used to say I was a bad hoe.
Let me tell you something. This right here meant yes. Okay. So you can admit it. You had some.
Okay.
You're broken up, so she can't hold you accountable for that. All right, so she told me a little bit about earlier about some anger issues that you punched a stop sign. What was going on?
Because me and her got into it.
Did you have anger issues before the baby?
Yes.
Okay, when did your anger issues start?
After my dad has tried to hurt me.
Got it, and do you close with your mom?
Yeah.
Okay, so what do you want the DNA truth to be today?
I want him to be my son, I really do.
You do? What would it mean for you to, be a father right now?
It would mean the world to me, 'cause my father wasn't there for me, her father wasn't there for her. Me and me, my family has never had our dads. I just wanna break the cycle and be there supportive no matter what.
Okay, I got that. All right, we just got a ping and it's from Darius's mom. She sent us a message that she wanted me to read. I believe this is my grandbaby. I need my son Darius to get help with his anger issues that are getting worse. The baby needs stable parents, not a toxic environment. Has she told you that before? Yeah. Okay. That makes sense. All right. Well, listen, I don't think there's any better time than for us to figure out if this is actually your child. So we have the DNA outcome.
Just one thing.
Just one thing. Yeah, go for it. What are you about to say?
Okay, if he is not mine, I will be there for the kid no matter what.
But if he is mine, I'm gonna tell you this and I'm gonna be honest with you. I love that you said that, but it's not realistic. You're 19 years old and if these results come out that this is not your child, I know that you will be there as much as you can right now, but you will be out of this child's life. So, and it's okay for you to let her know honestly that if this not my child, I'll move on. It's okay. And the reason I'm telling you that is because at such a young age, it's better that we model honest communication when we're talking to people that we have these situations with versus giving this sort of optimistic idea of like, well, I promise you I'm gonna show up and be Superman. It ain't true. No, I get it. I get it. I'm not saying, but the truth of the matter is that this is not your child in here by 20. You're not gonna talk to each other, and that's just the real of it, because this won't be your responsibility anymore. And so let's just keep it real. Let's hope from what you said that this is your child.
If he is mine, I'll straighten out my priorities. I'll go anywhere that needs to get help for me. I'll do it right now for this second if he is mine.
Okay, great. So listen, in this envelope, we have the DNA outcome. This is yours to open. Are you ready? Yeah.
Darius Grayson is your son.
Come here, young brother. Come here. Come here. Come here. Come here. What are you going through right now? What are you feeling? I don't know what I'm feeling. I mean— Yeah, let it out. It's okay.
I mean, I've been there for him, but I've been very distant, and now I'm just gonna, if I need to go anywhere, I'll go right now. Just get my priorities right so I can get his priorities right. I hear that.
All right, like I said, Y'all, I'm just in love with your young spirits. And this is a lot for both of you. You're babies, you're young, and you're now thrusted into a lot of adult situations that are about to happen from here on out. So I wanna support you in getting some therapy, okay? So that way you don't have to worry about it. Is that okay? And then I know you, I know you two are young, Now you know you're a father, y'all can't quit jobs no more, okay? You gotta stay in it even when it's hard. But I know that things are expensive and things are gonna rapidly get expensive. And as much as the family's gonna support you, they're also gonna start saying to y'all after a while, let's be realistic, y'all gotta step up for yourselves. So I wanna make sure that I'm there to support you when they start to say we can't. So I will help you with some diapers, I'll help you with money for things like that so that way you have more support, okay? Thank you. Y'all good? I'm here for y'all. What are you going through? What are you thinking about over there?
I'm just really shocked that I ever actually have a kid.
Yeah, I know. Let me tell you something. One popped up on my doorstep. That's how I found out I was a father. And I was sitting just like you. I was like, what am I supposed to do now? Trust me. And I had those same anger issues. Let me tell you something. I don't get to talk about it enough. My best friend who's always here, best friend Trey, He'll tell you, when I found out that I was a father, I was in a place in my life where, I mean, I was a wreck. I was angry all the time because I had issues with my own father. We did not get along. We weren't speaking. He tried to fight me. It was one of the worst relationships I had in my life. And I took that on everybody that was around me. And then I had this son that popped up and I did the same thing. You're like, what the hell am I supposed to do now? And that's why it's important for me to give you the support because somebody else did that for me. And I got to pass it on to you, OK? You got it? Come on, you got it. Come on.
I got it.
I don't got it. You're going to be all right. You're going to be all right, trust me. You're going to be all right, OK? Listen, I wish y'all the best of luck, all right? Mm-hmm.
