So I hear you're an amateur detective doing work. You're doing similar work to like me.
Sure am, sure am.
So what have you caught your girl doing?
Well, I'm not just crazy or anything.
Okay.
So I'm not just putting stuff on her phone or doing stuff, but it got down to the point where she lies all the time about the littlest things. I just don't understand. Started there, like with the little lies, you know, about like stealing my drawers, my shoes, you know.
Stealing your drawers?
Just little things, just little things. It's so crazy.
Hold on, hold on. We can't skip up. She's stealing your drawers? Why would she steal your drawers?
I still don't know till this day.
Okay.
I don't know. Maybe 'cause they look too good on me.
Okay.
You know.
Did she admit to stealing your drawers?
Well, what happened was I had to put a recorder in my car And well, come to find out she admitted on the recording that she is the one that stole my drawers.
Oh wow.
And took my shoes. Wow. And so I'm like, so it wasn't even her friends, it was her?
Yeah.
So I'm like, wait, that's crazy. So I tell her, I show her, she's still denying this recording, her own voice. She's denying it.
And in the recording, did she say why she would take your shoes and your underwear? I don't get it.
No.
Yeah. I gotta ask you, have you ever cheated on her?
No, I've never cheated. She says that I cheated and that's one thing I wanna clear up today. I did not cheat. I was done with her. She wanna tell everybody that I cheated with this girl that I confided in during the time that was rough for us. We were going through it when she stole my drawers and my shoes and all that. I started working 'cause I was the breadwinner. Met her, you know, I had to do everything. You know, we was homeless. I got us off the street. You know, I got a job. You know, I stuck to my word. You know, she's a beautiful, beautiful, beautiful person. You know, I love her. I love her personality, everything about her. But no, I didn't cheat and I want her to stop telling everybody that.
I heard from my producers that you left last year. You left her last year.
Why? Yeah, because she won't stop lying to me about the littlest things. She won't stop lying to me. It's never me and her. She doesn't, I don't think she believes in me, my dreams, my goals, the things that I can do. You know, I just started giving up, you know? I just started giving up, you know? I would work, I worked for us.
Got it.
So, you know, my money went for things for us, you know? Whatever she wanted, whatever she wanted, I literally worked for her.
So you were incarcerated and during that time she cheated?
I get this anonymous text message on my phone from a family member of hers stating, that Cabrina was cheating on me and it wasn't with a girl. And to watch my back and all that. And it's not so much that I believe the message from the family member, it was the fact that I already had feelings. It's already been, I've already, you know, other people already said things to me. I've caught things, you know, she's got caught in a lie, her own lie. She's told on herself.
So there's a couple layers there. So does Cabrina identify as bisexual or?
I'm not sure.
Okay. And then this is a family member that also told you that? Yeah. Wow.
And you know, and I didn't really wanna find solid evidence 'cause I have real love. You know what I mean? I don't want, I'm not the type of person to go looking for something that I want to separate us 'cause I don't not want to be with her. I want to pursue a family.
You just want transparency.
I just want to know that When I tell you I love you and you tell me back and you mean it.
Everyone, we've gotten your side of the story and I think it's time that we meet Courtney's girlfriend, Cabrina. So everyone, please welcome Cabrina to the show.
I do wanna say that I never hid your shoes or your drawers or your clothes. I never hid it. You did though. You never showed me no recording.
Yes, I did.
No, you did not.
You lying about it.
You said that. I still have the recording though. I still have it and I still can show you.
So I gotta ask you, since you're saying you did not steal her underwear or her shoes, No, that's definitely my character of who I am. I'm gonna ask you this, 'cause she also says you admitted to cheating. Did you admit to cheating?
I did admit to cheating on her only, and the only reason why I cheated on her, Karamo, is because she— Cheated on me. The only reason why I cheated on her, Karamo, is because she cheated on me on my birthday. I didn't cheat on you on your birthday. I was gone. I was gone. I didn't wanna be with you no more, Karina. Yeah, but you made it like you didn't wanna be with me no more. I didn't wanna be with you no more. I was with the other girl. You was begging me to come home. What are you talking about? You kept on asking me to come home, come back to you. I was asking you to come home, yeah. Exactly, so I did not cheat on you.
That's one of the things.
You tried to make it somebody else's fault. You want the world to think that I'm a bad person, but I'm not.
No, I don't. So you're saying y'all were broken up?
Yes, yes. You were. She said that we were broken up.
So does that consist of cheating then?
Exactly. No, it doesn't consist of cheating if she feel like it doesn't matter. So why do you keep telling everybody that? Because I don't feel like we were broken up. That's you with your feelings though. You're telling everybody I cheated on you when I didn't. How are we broken up? When did you say you were cheating on me like that? You cheated on me.
You cheated on me.
The only reason why I cheated on you is because you were not breathing. Exactly, but I never cheated on you, so admit that. I was hurt. So admit that though. I was hurt. But admit that though. I admitted that, yes, I did. I did not cheat on you, and I want everybody to know that. Okay, if that's how you want to look at things, then that's how you feel. You just said it though right now. That's how you felt. You just said it right now.
Yeah, so let me clear this up. So you were broken up with when you're saying she cheated?
She said that we were broken up.
She's saying that you were broken up.
And I don't—
But you don't feel that way?
I didn't take it that way, no.
Okay then. But then y'all got back together, so you forgave her, and then were you officially back together when you cheated? Yes.
It was around that time.
Are you two together right now?
Yes, we live together.
Okay, you're together and you consider yourself being in a relationship? Yes. Do you fight about this stuff a lot?
Almost every day, and she wanna make the world think that I'm crazy and I'm not. No, I don't. Crazy. You are a sneaky person.
Everybody's best friend.
You delete stuff off your phone thinking that I'm dumb, that I think it's deleted and you still have these apps on your phone.
No, you said, Courtney, can I ask you this? You said you don't want the world to see you as a bad person, but in this moment, if you say you love her, you're also painting a picture that she's a bad person.
Because the world thinks that she's a good, that, because I don't talk to nobody. I don't talk to nobody about what we go through.
Well, you just said the world thinks she's a good, I guess in your friend circle, you think in your friend circle people are taking her side more than?
Yes, exactly, yes.
Okay then, Cabrina, you say Courtney accused you of cheating with men?
Yes. And I don't even like men. I haven't dated men since high school.
Okay then.
I don't necessarily accuse her of cheating with men. I just want to know, is men still there?
No.
Like, do you still like— No. I mean, you know, 'cause when I met you, you know, you was getting money from a man. I was a dancer. That's when you first met me. You met me, I was a dancer. I stopped dancing, I stopped doing all that. We moved in together. I genuinely love her more than anything and I just want it to work out. I just want you to stop lying. I want you to stop lying. I understand that. Because I don't lie to you. I want you to stop lying to me. You're sneaky. That's because you changed the locks on me and I came home and I couldn't. That was the only time. I changed the locks on you because you letting people come in my house all the time. You never watch my stuff. You never watch my stuff.
Hold on, you changed the locks on her and she couldn't get into the house?
Yeah, I changed my locks.
Okay, well listen, I think it's time to unlock these phones. Courtney, I wanna start with you. All right, Courtney, let's start with you. Karina wants to know if Courtney has been talking to the girl she cheated with last year. Courtney says she has not. My Unlock the Phone investigators searched her text and call log and found that Courtney is telling the truth. Cabrina, you want to know if Courtney is on dating apps, but she also discussed something with my producers before the show that they want me and you to take a look at. Can I see?
I do have like a lot of apps and stuff, but that's because I was, you know, watching her. I have like, you know, accounts, you know, those dating accounts, whatever you wanna call 'em, you name a few, like Twitter and all that stuff. Stuff. It's not a secret, I mean, but you know, you know, I talk to people on there. She knows or whatever, but it's nothing like— So she knows that you talk to people on, on dating apps? Yeah, right. Well, I tell her because, you know, uh, if she wasting my time, you know.
Did you know that she was also talking to other women?
No, I didn't. I didn't think that she was even cheating on me. I'm not cheating. I'm not talking to him. I tried, but it don't work. It don't work. I don't be wanting to feel left out.
Okay, but you did, but by trying, that is the act of getting to try to cheat.
No, I guess so, but.
Gabrina, what is your thought about that?
That she said that? I mean, I do believe that it doesn't go nowhere like that. I do believe that.
But how do you feel about the fact that she's talking to girls?
I do feel like that is wrong, but I also wanna know like, I'm all the woman that you need. What do you want me to do better? What can I do better to show you? I'm all the person that you need. Yes, you are.
We're not done. We gotta go to DMs. Cabrina, you want to know if Courtney has been messaging other women. Courtney says she's not. My Unlock the Phone investigator searched her DMs and found that Courtney is obviously not telling the truth. She has a total of 24 DMs with 13 different women. So there is more than just communication that you said like falls flat.
I've never met up with nobody.
Okay.
It was just for my own, I'm sitting on my couch feeling some type of way. I feel dumb like she's doing it 'cause I know she's doing it.
I'm not.
So I don't be wanting to feel wrong. I'm not cheating on you.
Well, you said you're not, so I think it's time to go, Cabrini, to unlock your phone. All right, well, Courtney, you want to know if Cabrini has been texting other women or men on her phone. Cabrini says she has not. My Unlock the Phone investigator searched her texts and found that Cabrina is telling the truth. She's not texting anyone. Courtney, you also wanna know if Cabrina has been calling one specific woman. Cabrina says she is not. My Unlock the Phone investigator searched her calls and found that Cabrina is telling the truth. She's not in communication with that woman. Courtney, you wanna know Cabrina has been visiting her mom who she believes is helping her to hook up. Cabrina says she is not. My Unlock the Phone investigators searched her GPS and found that Cabrina is telling the truth again.
But she also got 3 phones. Don't look at my 3 phones, they're all connected to my Gmail account. No, they're not. Yes, they are. Everything or every phone that I ever been, I go through one Gmail account.
Prepping for what?
Well, Courtney, what do I have to fight for? You called him.
Well, Courtney, you said you love him.
I called him because I wanted to show you that I truly love you and I have something that I wanna give to you, but I haven't did it yet 'cause I don't even know. I don't even know.
You want to give her something? What do you wanna give her?
I wanna read something, but I don't even know.
What is it that you wanna read?
Read it.
Go for it.
It's okay. Look, gimme a hug 'cause I do love you. I do love you and I'm happy that you didn't, you know, how you think too. I love you so much.
Okay, what is it that you wanna read?
I just know it by heart. I just wanted to say, bringing you on the Karamo Show is somebody that we both watch every single day. And we love you, Karamo.
Thank you.
For what you do. Thank you. We love you for what you do. I appreciate that. I wanna tell you that I love you so much and I just wanna know why you married me. Will I marry you? Yes. Wow. 'Cause I really love you. I will.
Okay.
You telling the truth?
I'm at a loss for words because I don't think that proposal should have happened. And I don't think you should have accepted.
And you know what? Honestly?
I have to tell you honestly, you said you both watch my show and you know that my only intention is always to help people.
Yes.
And what I've witnessed here is probably one of the unhealthiest relationships I've ever seen. We have to understand that sometimes because of our past, because of our history, we allow things to go on. Nothing has been resolved.
Yeah, and that's what we do all the time actually. And we try and I do wanna try to resolve.
We do that all the time actually.
I will be mad and then she'll be like, "Oh, I'm sorry." And we're back in the living room watching TV together.
Well, that's because when someone you feel has betrayed you, of course you're gonna feel hurt, it's gonna trigger all those feelings, but then the minute they confirm that, "Okay, I'm not leaving," you're gonna run right back to their arms.
Yeah, I do.
Because you don't want to be alone. And I think part of that is what keeps us unhealthy is because Instead of you saying, I can live in being alone, I can live in feeling like I don't need another person, you're always gonna be searching for someone else to make you whole. And I don't think you spend enough time to work on that.
I don't want that. That's why I'm trying to be everything I can be.
But actually you do want that because you knew that pattern and you just saw all the unhealthiness and then your thought was, let me show her she's not alone by asking her to marry me. So you play a role in this as well. But I will also say this for you. Even though you've had a supportive mother and you've had supportive parents, you've been through your own things and you have guilt for anybody who does something good for you. You said outta your mouth, she took me outta homelessness. You also said other things that show you feel indebted to her because of the fact that she was there for you in your hardest moments. Just because someone's there for you in your hardest moments doesn't mean that you have to then continue to be with them in more hard moments. And that's what you're doing. And how do I change that? How can I fix that? Well, you don't fix it together. You can't smash the mirror together and then try to piece it back together and hope your reflection's gonna be the same. And that's what y'all are doing. That's what that marriage proposal is. We smashed the mirror and now we're gonna put some tape on it. Look, we're married. And then we're gonna hope that we can see each other. You can't see each other. You have to do that separately. This is separate work that you all have to do. You two are extremely beautiful and intelligent and driven people that literally y'all can do so much together if you are healthy. But right now y'all not healthy. And so the more you stay in this because you're afraid to lose her, you're gonna end up losing yourself. I wish y'all the best of luck, but if y'all trying to stay in this right now, if y'all go back home and move back into that apartment, this gonna get worse, okay? Mom, try to encourage them. Move out, separate, okay? All right, so Whitney, please tell me about your friend.
Well, me and Airiana have been friends since 2016. 2018. We've lived with each other off and on, and she is my daughter's godmom. Well, I'm out here today because I heard that he brought her to the show to try and win her back, and you're not having it? No.
Don't you love a good girlfriend? I call him my good Gigi, a good girlfriend. Like, listen, a Gigi will come to your rescue at any moment. She said, I heard he trying to call her back, I came too. You know what I mean? Which I love that. So you said you feel bad for her, the fact that she's like in these toxic relationships. Tell me about this.
Well, she's gullible, but she has a big heart. She is very forgiving. So when I see something, I try to tell her like, you need to step back, kind of look at what you're getting into and When we noticed these red flags with Richard, we, I told her it's time to look into him.
So when did you start feeling that sort of, when did you start getting that sense that you had a bad feeling about Richard?
It was good in the beginning. He had told us like some things and kind of like, oh, he had money and stuff like that. And I was like, okay, a man that could take care of my best friend. And then I started to know like, little lies here and there. And I kept telling her, I was like, you need to look through his phone. And she just would not look through his phone. We finally decided to go through his phone and we snuck his phone and we did some CIA work and—
You sound like my sister in spirit, girl, 'cause y'all know I like to unlock a phone here. So I get it, girl. Listen, I understand. Unlock the phone and get the truth.
Yeah. Downloaded like all of this deleted stuff that he had deleted. We found Grindr on his phone. We found different nudity pictures on his phone.
How did Ariana feel when she saw all these, when she saw the Grindr app, when she saw the photos and when she found out that he basically is cheating on her?
We were sitting there, we were up till like 2:00 AM 2, 3 o'clock in the morning looking at all this. But when it hit her, she broke down and she cried. And it hurts me to see my friend like that.
So did you ever find exact proof that he cheated?
Yes, we actually did. When we found the Grindr app, she made him go through it. And he actually wasn't even using his profile picture on there. And he said that he would go to these houses to meet up with them, but he would just sit outside and then change his mind.
Got it.
Yeah.
So just for anyone who's wondering, Grindr app is an app where consenting men of a trans experience can meet up and decide to date or have sexual relations. And so I'm assuming Ariana and Richard are both in a heterosexual relationship. That's why this is shocking. All right, do you? So do you feel like Ariana does too much for him?
I feel like she does in different ways. I feel like she's had enough, but I also feel like she is wanting that type of relationship, like love, she wants it. So she's very forgiving, so I feel like I'm here just to tell her like, no, you cannot get with him.
My producers told me that Ariana bought her own engagement ring. Can you tell me about that?
Yep. Yeah. She did buy her own engagement ring. He said he was gonna get her one, but he was always saying, oh yeah, I go to work all the time. My husband worked with him and said he was never at work. So that's why he never had any money.
Got it. And so you don't like the fact that she bought her own ring?
Mm-mm. Yeah.
And do you think that Ariana will take him back today?
I hope not.
Yeah. Well, you know your friend best, you know?
I feel like she probably would.
So we've heard a little bit about this story and I wanna go ahead and bring Richard out to see his side to all of this. So Richard, come on out.
Now, we're not gonna go on.
We don't know his side yet. We don't know his side. Hey Richard, how are you doing?
Good, how about yourself?
Thank you for being here. So listen, I know that you heard everything that was said backstage. Do you have something to say about it? Yeah, she didn't buy her own ring. I did put money down on it. I did go to work, I do know that. How do you feel about the fact that she's always involved? Well, I believe that a relationship is two people. Other people get involved, then—
Who is she supposed to talk to?
She can talk, but how you were always right there, right there, right there, right there, no, it's a two-person relationship.
But who is she supposed to talk to about you lying to her and going on Grindr apparently?
You know, I'll own up to that. I did go out and I did have sex. She asked me to change for her. And I did. Every time I've been like, oh, you know what? I really wanna go out and have sex or I wanna watch porn, I just throw away my phone. So listen, I wanna hear what Ariana has to say about all of this. So let's welcome Ariana to the show right now.
Hi.
How are you?
Good, you look beautiful.
Okay, so you just heard your best friend say she's surprised that you called him, said you want him back. She's here because she wants to protect you. What do you have to say to your best friend?
I definitely have been thinking about it, but after the things that I heard backstage, he's always, it's just consistent lies. So why can't you just tell me the truth? Why did it take this for you to tell me the truth? It shouldn't take all this.
It should not.
I told you that I would listen to you and support you and talk to you. Like I talked to you, didn't I?
Yeah.
But you didn't do that for me. You just said, fuck her.
Why is it that you, Ariana, that you wanted him back before, that you made that call to say?
What was it about your relationship that was so special In the beginning, he really was special to me. Like, he, from what I perceived, he was very intimate, able to talk to, super nice, and like, I felt comfortable with him. It was, I felt very comfortable with him. And then it just, things started not adding up. Just consistently, just little things, little tiny things. Red flags popped out.
So what were the red flags for you that popped up?
Just the lying.
So like tiny little things that you think are white lies adding up to you to say like, this is not okay.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Because I gave him 3 chances.
Yes.
The first time was when I found the Grindr and I was like, okay, if you say that you're gonna change and do what I ask, then I will give you another chance. Then the second time after that, he was, I talked to his ex-girlfriend. And they were saying that he's a consistent liar. He's always talking crap about them and being very, very derogatory towards them. And then the third time was when I found out that he had notifications on Facebook Dating. You don't have notifications if you're not going there. Sorry.
Got it, I understand. So there was like a lot of red flags that constantly were coming up. And then why did you stay though? I know you keep saying that it was vulnerable, but I just, because he was vulnerable, he was nice to talk to you, to you, but then why did you stay?
I'm a very forgiving person. I love very deeply and very hard, and it was hard for me to let that go because I really thought that he was the guy. I really thought he presented that to me.
He showed that to me. I kept trying and trying, and I was okay with you taking sex off the table. I really was. As much as I could be at that time, yes, I was very okay with it. But every time we got to a point where Okay, hey, we're both happy, we both feel happy. You took cuddling away? We couldn't lay in the same bed and even just talk?
Because of tensions. You know what I believe. You know that I'm a Christian woman. You know what we're supposed to do.
And I understand that.
So if you couldn't do that, then you should've said that.
But if we can't even just lie together or sit on the couch next to each other. You're a Christian. Why did you take sex off the table?
Because I wanted to have an intimate relationship relationship not just be about sex, always having sex all the time.
I feel like relationship was built off sex, a foundation of sex. You take that away, your house crumbles.
Well, the house already crumbled.
Do you think Ariana was playing games with you? I do not know. Good. I felt that. Do you think that he's playing games with you?
Oh yes.
I felt the first time she broke up with me, it wasn't even really breaking up. We were just talking. She was like, you know, I'm not over my ex, I just need some time. I was like, that's, That's okay. And then we started dating and then she's like, you know what? I feel like we can't be together. That is okay. If we are broken up, let me go be broken up. I'm gonna go have sex. All right, is there anything that you regret? I do, yes. What do you regret? I regret cheating and lying to her every day. Yeah, you regret the lying part. And the cheating. And the cheating part. Have you told her that? I have not in person. Can you tell her right now? I truly am sorry. I'm sorry. You don't have to forgive me, but I really am sorry and I do hate myself for doing all that because you were the one that actually made me happy. I've been with two other people in an actual relationship and I could care less about them.
If I made you happy, why did you make the decision that you made? I obviously did not make you happy.
You did make me happy.
Could not have. That doesn't make sense.
It might not make sense to you.
Of course it doesn't.
But every time I thought I was happy and truly happy, I got in my own head and like I told you, I overthought everything.
So that gives you a reason to go and cheat?
It does not. But if I try and talk to you about my emotions and you say, "Huh, no, this can wait, this can wait." So you're 21. How old are you?
23.
23 years old. Got it. So the only reason I'm asking for those ages is because I wanna give you my take on this. I know you came here for my advice and my thoughts on all of this matter. I am so happy that you are willing to give her the fact that you can apologize face to face because you deserve that. And as a young woman who's on her own journey of figuring out who she is and how she's gonna grow, It's important that those who cause you any pain or damage own up to it. And so I'm glad that you can step up and give her that. But there's nothing else he can give you. And that's what you also need to be aware. And I get it, you're a loving and forgiving person, but what I need you to do is figure out new ways to understand of how not to get back into toxic relationships. Because what I'm seeing right now from hearing from your friend is that you're repeating a pattern of finding men who are going to emotionally abuse you. Because even though this is not emotional abuse in the sense of like he was saying things to you, he actually was damaging you emotionally and mentally by lying to you and cheating on you. And you don't deserve that. Do you believe that you can start to see those red flags a little bit sooner and not be so forgiving of them?
Yeah, definitely.
How do you think you'll do that?
Well, I did try to date somebody after him And I don't know, I just, I think of my, I've been trying to think of myself as more, not as less.
[Speaker:KARAMO] Good job.
[Speaker] And trying to. [APPLAUSE] And just trying to see myself as the beautiful woman that I'm always told that I am instead of just thinking about all the ways that the men have, what they've done to me in my life. I wanna be better. Stupendous to that level is not going to help.
Now Richard, I gotta tell you, I actually don't think you're a bad guy. But what I wanna encourage you to do is be in a space where you can be with yourself and realize that you don't have to lie to anybody to receive love. You don't have to lie to receive love. You deserve love and you deserve also to be on your journey of discovering who you are. You are 21 years old and I don't just mean about sexual orientation, I mean everything in your life. You deserve to figure out what my finances look like, what I wanna do with my life, who am I? You deserve time to heal, but you don't have to lie to get love. And the sooner you realize that, I'm telling you, I was a young man once who thought like I had to floss, I had to say certain things to get the love that I thought I deserved. And one day I woke up and realized, you know what? People actually love me more when I'm honest. So find that truth within yourself to be honest. And I promise you, you won't lose another good one like this, all right? All right, everyone. So Luke, tell me what's going on. So what's going on is I'm a young 24-year-old proud LGBT musician from Austin.
Yes. And I just wanna be here on the show to show people that if they're LGBT or if they're struggling with their parents or things like that, that it can get better if they work on it. So I'm here to work on it.
Yes, okay, I love that. I love that. So please for me, describe your relationship with your mom? So I'd say that my relationship with my mom has been strained the past few years because we just argue a lot.
She's very in my business and she just oversteps her boundaries with things and I just need help setting those boundaries with her to have a healthy relationship.
So my producers told me that your mother wasn't fully in your life. She wasn't, so. So what was it like growing up with her when she was there? And what was it like without her? Well, growing up, it was really nice most of the time with her, but there was a custody battle between my parents and my mother lost.
So when I was around 10 years old, I went to go live with my father and I didn't really see much of my mother after that until I turned 18.
It's not often you hear about a mother in a custody battle losing custody. When did your mom when did your mom find out that you self-identify as gay?
She found out actually after I turned 18.
She didn't really have an idea, she said, before. And I thought that was kind of surprising because look at me now. You're like, girl, you got eyes, girl.
Yeah. But she found out, she said she saw a social media post on my Instagram and that's how she found out.
10 years is a long time not to be in contact.
It is.
With your child.
Yeah.
Tell me what was going on there.
Yeah, so let me clarify. Luke and I did go through a very long contentious custody dispute that lasted around 10 years. We did have contact twice a month. We had visits. We also had holiday visits with my parents, but it was still strained because we weren't able to communicate between those visits. Got it. I'm a very dedicated mom. Love my son to death. And my issues with him now are partially about him being in the gay community and how the choices he's made with certain unsavory friends and toxic sexualized, over-sexualized maybe situations. However, I have been very accepting of him in every way.
During that time that you didn't get to see your child, What life were you building in your head? Because this is the thing as parents, I know this just for myself, we start to imagine our child's future.
Exactly.
Especially when you're not around them.
Right.
What life were you building in your head when you weren't around your child?
So to be honest and to be fair, he played every sport, baseball, soccer, ran track, basketball. He was gonna get married and have kids. And then I did find out on social media that he was gay and I was shocked just because of, I mean, I don't know if I was a little in denial, but I never honestly didn't see the signs.
Yeah, yeah.
So I didn't see 'em.
Yeah. You say Luke is irresponsible and naive.
Just recently he picked up a homeless gay guy from California who flew out here to live with Luke. Fast forward, the kid gets my son's name tattooed across his chest. That was a red flag and an alarm bell for me. The kid just recently totaled his car. So there's been other situations. There was a situation where one of his friends called me at 4 in the morning claiming Luke was missing. And I don't know if this was a prank, but for 5 hours I didn't know where he was. I had to call the police. All the police stations.
I just have a few things to say about what she just said. Please tell me what you think. I honestly think that my mom can have her opinion on the friends that I have, but at the end of the day, it's my choice and my life and my journey that I have to go through and I have to make the mistakes to learn from them.
And the thing like my mom does is if I'm arguing with a friend, she'll go out of her way to go message them on social media and blow the situation out of proportion.
Also with the me being missing, my phone was literally just lost.
So that like— Okay, but your friends did call me at 4 o'clock in the morning. Yeah. Claiming you were missing.
Well, my phone was just lost and then she started calling the police station and everything and I'm like, chill out. Like my phone's just lost.
That's what a responsible parent would do, Karamo.
Yeah, that one I get 100%. Somebody call me at 4:00 AM and say my child is missing, I'm gonna be on every dial on, I'm calling everything. It is what it is. So that one, as a parent, I do understand. But when you take it further, like you just said with social media, and then message someone's friends, now that's something I don't do.
No, I've done that once or twice.
And she comments like mean things on their posts. She just blows up situations that could be dealt with in a better way. What mean things has she said? She, one day she says, She hates me, never wants to see me again. The next day she loves me. So I never really know exactly what I'm gonna get from her. Your child just said that you say things like, "I hate you," and then say the next day, "I love you." Right, and I have regretted that, but I think there's a big chunk that we're missing here. Tell me.
The story. And I'm not trying to justify that.
Where does that come from?
Here's where it comes from. He's put me through a lot of stress. The poor decision making, the calling me up. I get no respect. It is a respect issue for me. There's a lot of rudeness, a lot of disrespect, a lot of blowing me off, putting me last on the list, and I'm the one who's always there.
You're here now.
Exactly.
And so I'm looking at the patterns of behavior. There was many years you weren't there.
Well, I was there. I wasn't allowed to be there. I was there. I went to the school for parent-teacher conference.
But for your child, the feelings were that you weren't there.
Well, his feelings are valid, but so are mine.
They are valid, but as a parent, and as a parent to another parent, when your child says you weren't there, that impact has a greater impact on what our child goes through versus what we went through. I do believe when I hear things about how you're acting and how you talk about your child, that you call their, who they are, a lifestyle. Just let y'all know very much, anytime you say to someone who is gay or trans that their life is a lifestyle, you would not like to be told that Who you are is a lifestyle. This is just who your child is.
Right.
Secondly, when you say things about unsavory friends, when you say things like they're not good, these things are something that I know to be true is called implicit stereotype. Let me teach you this really quickly. Implicit stereotype, 'cause I see you're shaking your head, but I'm very knowledgeable about this stuff as well.
I'm talking about experiences I've had with them personally.
Listen, I understand what you're saying, but—
And we don't have all day to talk about it, but—
We actually do, we on my show.
Okay.
So we do have all day. When it comes to implicit stereotype, what that means is when you have feelings that have already been deep down inside of you. I asked you that question about what life did you build in your head about your child? Because that life and that thought pattern and any feelings you had attached to the LGBT community are showing their head now. Even though you're saying, I'm there, I wanna be there.
Let me, I'm telling you.
Even though they're not telling you from your actions, you're still showing that implicit feelings of, well, I don't know if I really feel like this is right for you. I don't know if you're making the right choices because you built something in your head that they are not living up to.
I think you're making into, blowing it out of proportion because my son can speak for that. Why don't you speak on that? Have I been accepting of you and your lifestyle?
Again, again, you just said lifestyle.
I said you and your lifestyle.
I said it's not a lifestyle. You cannot say you.
I said you and your lifestyle.
But I am teaching you right now that you cannot say you and lifestyle. It's just say you.
But have I been accepting of you?
See, I'm here to support you, and I'm here to also make sure that you don't walk away feeling as if you're a bad guy, 'cause I don't think you're a bad guy, and I want to be clear about that. Yeah, yeah. But I do believe there's some education that needs to happen. I honestly think that my mom loves me very much, and I think that now And now she accepts me way more than she probably could have in the beginning. And the reason that is, is because there's still things from how you perceived your child's life should be that is still coming up. You just said outta your own mouth that you've said to your child, "I hate you." You've said it.
Not for being gay, sir. Not for being gay.
Okay, like I said.
That's absolutely—
I'm telling you something. Things come out of you. What's in you gonna come outta you. And that's what I know to be true. My best friend say that all the time. What's in you gonna come outta you. And what's in you is that there's something about your child you hate. So whether you want to admit it or not, it came out of you.
I don't actually think she hates me. I think she just says things to hurt my feelings when I don't do it.
I don't think she hates you either. But what I'm saying to you is there's something within her that she's been feeling that when you say something, I've never as a parent, let me just say something.
I think you might be projecting, to be honest.
Let me tell you something, my child, let me tell you something very clearly. My child is right there. I have never looked at my child and said, I hate you. So I can tell you very clearly that there's nothing. You have a great day. So let me tell you something. No, this is really great. Because what I will never tolerate on my show is for anyone to tell me, first of all, that I don't know what I'm talking about. But also, you will never disrespect a child as a parent. Because at the end of the day, I do believe your mother loves you, but I do believe there's something within her that is not allowing her to respect you and treat you the way you deserve to be treated.
Yeah. I just want things to be good with her one day.
Yes, I know that. But the unfortunate part, because I see you get emotional right now. What are you feeling? It's just I knew that she'd be upset when like things were talked about but I didn't know that she'd like walk off the stage. It's because she's not ready yet to face what's really going on. That is not about you. That's about her feeling like, "I just got caught. I just had a mirror put up to my face." And the unfortunate part is that you're her child, so she knows she can get away with it. I'm a grown man. She can't get away with it with me. Yeah. But I want you to know you don't deserve that. Come here, give me a hug. You're gonna be all right. You're gonna be all right. Listen everyone, take a seat with me. Listen everyone, today felt good because it was a moment where people's biases were challenged and I got a chance to support some LGBT folks and their families. Listen, as we both know, discrimination is hard, but what I know to be true is that you at home listening to me have the strength within you to overcome any challenge you're facing and never forget There's a community of people who want to love you and support you. Never give up. Friends, we must never stop respecting, communicating, and loving each other. It's the only way. I love you all.
So me and AJ, we dated, well, we met back in 2021. And we met actually at an electronic music festival, well, she, at EDC. She actually stayed at my apartment and I didn't even know her. It was a friend of a friend. And I was like, friends are friends, it's cool. You know, we went to the event and it was interesting because she was very clingy off the start and it was the first night I met her. But I was like, kind of, you know, like the love bomb feeling. I was like, oh, this feels good. I was like, you know, I've had really bad relationships in the past and I was like, this feels good. I was like, okay, I'll give it a chance. The relationship was kind of rocky.
[Speaker] So in the beginning it was rocky, even though you had that first night which was romantic or romantic-ish. [Speaker] Ish, yeah. It went sour quickly?
It just went really fast, the relationship itself, you know? And she brought Oso into the relationship, that's the dog, our dog, and immediately we fell in love. And you know, when a dog, if you have a dog, you know that they pick their person, it may not be the owner. And even from the start, AJ was like, "Oh, Oso picked you." So why did you and AJ finally break up? Technically, she says I cheated. So she, throughout the whole relationship, she would go through my phone, go through, she would delete people's phone numbers, block them, delete videos, delete everything. And I would wake up in the morning and I'm like, what happened to this? And she's like, I don't know. I'm like, you're the only person that lives in this house. Who else could it be? Oso didn't do it. A ghost didn't do it. I didn't do it, obviously. And that happened multiple times. And it was to the point where it was just like, she obviously didn't trust me just from the back.
Did you stay in the relationship longer so you can be closer to Osa?
Oh, definitely.
You did?
And you know, that's kind of terrible to say. And you know, I didn't like the feeling of what would happen if me and Osa, what would happen in that relationship. I knew that she would try and, you know, take him away from me.
And so y'all were exes, but you still lived together for 8 months?
The thing was we broke up in like September and then our lease didn't end until May. So we're like, let's just stay, let's co-parent, let's try and figure this out. It was rough and even the relationship was rough. We had to deal with cops, we had to deal with court.
Cops in court? Yes. Did it get physical?
'Cause that's really scary. Yes, during the relationship, we were in Vegas, it's a zero tolerance and when she got drunk, we were out in public and she ended up strangling me. She was completely like this and we went to court but I didn't show up because I didn't want her to get in trouble. It was still the beginning of our relationship and I didn't want that to start start off downhill.
Got it. So that thing in Vegas happened from the beginning.
That was from the beginning.
Oh, so it was bad from the beginning.
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah. It started off bad.
When you finally moved out, did you still share custody of the dog?
Yeah, we did. We knew when we moved out in May, she was gonna be working during the day now. She used to work from home. So that means that whenever Oso was gonna have custody with her, Oso's gonna be by himself completely.
When was the last time you saw the dog?
It was her birthday and I made her like a cake and dinner. You know, we were still trying to co-parent. She's still my friend.
So what do you want to happen today?
One, I want her to leave me alone, like for good.
Got it. So you definitely wanna cut off all interaction. Oh, definitely. But then you also want?
The thing is she doesn't take care of him.
So you want the dog?
So I want Oso 'cause I can take care of him.
I hear now what you're saying that you need and what's going on. But everyone, I wanna hear from AJ. So everyone help me Welcome AJ to this show to get their side of the story.
You're such a bitch. You're not taking my dog from me. Your dog? My dog. You don't even take care of your dog. I walk him every day. No, you don't. Do you see all the crap on the patio? Shut up, I'm talking.
You shut up.
No. He's my dog. I've had him since 2019. 2019. You broke my heart, cheated on me constantly. What does that have to do with a dog? Why would I want someone who breaks my heart to have any part of my dog and be in his life at all? I take care of him. He is my dog. That has nothing to do with the relationship. My dog. I take care of him. You don't take care of him.
I see a lot of pain that just came out. So it's funny because we're talking about the dog here, but there was more of heartbreak that you were talking about. And I see the dots on your shirt, which means you were crying backstage. You still haven't healed from the heartbreak.
How can I when we still sleep together? We don't. We hooked up 3 times. Because he took advantage of me when I was drunk. Advantage of you? Yes. Really? You came on to me 3 times. You did. I was blacked out drunk. How did I come on to you when I was blacked out? How did I come on to you when we were both blacked out drunk? No, we're not both blacked out drunk.
I don't remember anything.
You do.
AJ, how was the relationship in your opinion?
At first it was fine. I thought I found my person with her. Yeah, we jumped into the relationship quick. I'm not gonna lie about that. It went really quick. And then—
And then you're saying she wasn't faithful?
And then, no. Yes, I did go through her phone because she was starting to act sketchy, distance, staying away from me, wasn't looking at me. Also, after we went to court and after you hit me. Hold on, hold on. Can I finish talking please? This is constantly. She would never let me talk. I went through her phone for the first time. She was sexting and sending nudes to her best friend's ex. No, I wasn't. Calm down.
So at the end of the day, whether or not, you're just saying she was unfaithful to you. Do you agree you were unfaithful?
So I didn't sleep with anyone else. I didn't see anyone else. Emotional connection is still cheating. Sending nudes to people is still cheating. I'm not saying that what I did was right. Sending nudes to people is still cheating.
And how was the co-parenting between you all when you broke up with the dog?
It was cool. It was great for a minute until we started having sex again. That's a fuckin' lie. Constantly, always together.
Always.
Yeah, for the dogs. The dog is a dog. He doesn't need to be babysat 24/7.
What happened on September 7th?
September 7th, my birthday. Just turned 27.
This is 2023, right?
Yeah, this year.
Okay, I just wanna make sure. You went through her phone and you found out she was talking about you?
"I'm only throwing her this birthday because she has no one else." I have a girlfriend at that time. I canceled all my plans to hang out with my best friend just for her to go around and tell some guy she hasn't met yet that I'm only doing this outta pity.
Did you get physical?
It did get physical.
So you hit her?
She beat me up. Not just hit, beat me up. Yeah, to the point where I had to call the cops to leave. Why are you blocking us? I'm trying to leave and you're blocking me from leaving. You're taking my— Because you're trying to take my dog. He's my dog. You took Cutty too. That's not your dog. No, I left Cutty there. No, you didn't. I had to get her the next morning and I didn't want you to have her.
AJ, do you think that you should be sharing custody?
Absolutely not.
Okay.
100%. I don't trust you. I don't give a fuck if you don't trust me or not.
So what do you want to happen today?
She's not your fucking dog.
So you came here for my advice and this is just facts. The dog, based on the timeline, belongs to her. I'm no judge. That's not my training. The cuteness of the dog is being overshadowed by these bigger issues. There's like deeper, bigger issues.
Of course.
That are here.
Yes.
And even in this time, like I don't understand, I get that you want the dog and I get that you have a great relationship and that you're hoping for.
I take care of him.
Okay.
She's lying about all this. I can show you pictures of the patio of him everywhere. It's not picked up, it's gross. She never took him on walks. Like literally he's sitting in a dark room all day. She doesn't open the blinds, She's at work all day. She comes home at 6, goes to sleep at 8. Where do you, when are you with the dog? Never. Never. That's a normal American life of a person who works in an office. No, if you don't have the time for a dog, you shouldn't have a dog. I didn't have a dog my whole life because I didn't have the time for one. So then why would you buy a dog? Because now I have a time for one. I have a different— How would it spread that you have a dog? Yeah, 'cause I have a new schedule. I have a different schedule. I work overnight. I know this schedule. I'm off. Yeah, I'm telling everyone else. Not you. So I actually have time. Yeah, exactly. I have time to take care of the dogs. I'm there for the dogs. You don't have the time to take care of them. It doesn't matter if, oh, you don't trust me, no, because I can take care of them. You can't. That's the thing. It doesn't matter whose dog. It matters on the safety and who takes care of the dog. And I've been doing a damn good job. No, you haven't. A hell of a good job.
I don't wanna bring the dog out. And the reason why is because there's a deeper emotional issue here and there's deep pain. And what's going on is the dog is being used as a tactic and it's also used— Yeah, I really, okay.
Yeah, you know what I mean.
I understand what you're saying. And it's actually being, it's triggering both of you. It's causing y'all to be in a cycle. My advice is, is that at the end of the day, as much as you love this dog, and this dog probably does love you. It's healthier for you physically and emotionally because y'all have been in violence. There has been violence between you all. And the thing is, I know that a lot of people, especially when it comes to LGBT relationships, people don't take the domestic violence as serious as they do like if there was a cisgender man and cisgender woman right here. I do take it serious. There's been real pain here and this dog is, is yes, cute to talk about, but at the end of the day, there's nothing. You bought another dog. You have custody of that dog, right? That dog shows you love and emotion.
But the problem is she's trying to take that dog too.
I don't want that dog. Okay, great. She said she don't want it. Oh, now she doesn't. Good. But let me tell you something. That's a declaration right here that we have publicly that she says she doesn't want it. So now you always have that proof. She says she doesn't want the dog. And at the end of the day, you need to be able to use that dog, find the love and support I support with that and you keep your dog. But also that means that there has to be a clear separation. There can be no more of you two communicating with each other. No more. Because what's going on is your heart keeps getting re-triggered over and over again. And even though you're in a new relationship, your heart is still not healed from the pain that you felt from this relationship. And for you being physically abused and not saying that it wasn't going both ways, you shouldn't even wanna be in contact.
I don't.
Yeah, because at the end of the day, you holding onto that dog is really you holding onto this toxic relationship. And that's the reason I don't wanna bring this dog out here.
Can I say bye?
We'll, I'll set up backstage for you to say goodbye. I will, because I think you deserve that. Because what that is, is that that is closure, not only for this relationship, but it's closure.
It's not fair though.
I know, but lemme tell you something. This entire relationship was not fair for either of you. I see the pain in your eyes and I see the pain in your eyes. No more communication at this point. And also that other thing y'all said, and as much as I know sometimes we always wanna continue and be like, okay, well we've broken up so now we can be friends. You said that earlier. Well, the friendship was a problem.
I don't wanna be her friend.
Good, good. The friendship is done too. That's as long, I'm glad you said it. There's a clear boundary where you both can agree that friendship, relationship, dogs, everything is cut and severed. It has to be done here. It's been a year and a couple of months of toxicness from beginning to end. And so now here's where it ends so you both can start to heal. You're in another relationship and I'm gonna give you this advice right now. Yeah. I saw your aggression, I saw you lashing out and I'm not gonna call you a bad person. I don't know who you are, I don't know what you've done before, but I want you to be able to use resources is to figure out how to channel your anger in new ways.
I already am.
Good. I'm so glad. I'm so glad. I'm so glad. Because you and your partner, I don't want y'all to get into this at all. And I want you as well. You said you knew it from the beginning that it went fast, but you said you were in some bad relationships before. And so you allowed the bad relationships and the fact that this sort of like felt, you said it, love bombing. You felt fresh with it. I want you to take your time and be patient here. The next one because you deserve to be in someone who's gonna love you, who's gonna support you. You understand? You both deserve the best. Well, I'm still single. Exactly, good. I'm glad you're doing the work in healing and I'm glad you're doing the work for yourself. And I'm glad that you both have dogs that you all can find love with and build your families with. But this is done here today, okay? So I wanna make sure it's very clear, Oso is AJ's dog, all right? I wish y'all the best of luck.
Thank you. I really do. I really do. Perfect, guys. Ready for what?
Bye, baby boy.
I know.
Okay, so what's making you suspect your boyfriend is hooking up with your best friend?
Well, so they started hanging out a lot more without me. And then they would go on lunch dates without me. I've seen messages, they say, "I love you," in there. I mean, I would understand if it was me telling her, "I love you," but you, absolutely not.
Okay then, I guess I could see how that could be weird, but yeah, I understand. So how did they react when you confronted them?
Actually, I never confronted them. That's why I'm here today on the show to grab him, I'm gonna tell him.
Got it. So how long have you and Dawson been together?
We've been together for about a year and 6 months altogether.
A year and 6 months? Yes. Got it. And what has it been like in that year and 6 months?
At the beginning, it was truly amazing. We were always on trips. We did a lot of stuff together.
Oh, y'all look adorable.
Yes. We like traveled a lot of the world together and it was just amazing. And then it started to go downhill. So we had a hurricane in Louisiana. We had our first apartment and then the hurricane took it. We started living together within 4 months after we were together and then the hurricane came. So we ended up having to move out 'cause they kicked everybody out of our apartment complex and told us like, "Hey, look, it's damaged." 4 months together and started moving in together? Yes.
How old are you?
I'm 18.
18 years old.
Yes.
Okay.
But I got emancipated.
Got it, yeah, yeah, yeah. No, I understand that, but I was more so thinking about being so young and making the commitment to move in with somebody, you know? Okay, so I just wanna know, has he ever cheated on you before?
Yes.
He has cheated on you? What happened?
Has it been physically? No, not that I know of, that I know of. But like, I'll go through his phone while he's sleeping and they'll have messages with other guys in there. He'll send pictures to other guys. If you wanna be with me, why are you doing that?
Let's hear what Dawson's side of this story. Everyone welcome Dawson to the show. Hey Dawson. Hi. How are you doing? I'm good. Nice to meet you.
You too.
Welcome to the show. So take a seat for me. So I gotta ask you point blank, are you hooking up with his female best friend?
No, I am not hooking up with his female best friend. Yes, we are really close, "but I've been trying to have this conversation with you for about 4 months now and you always just neglect it." I didn't. "You pushed me away." No, I didn't. "That is what you do." No, no, because you always wanna get there and argue about it and then we never get a resolution. So we need to get a resolution here and that's why we're here today, get a resolution.
Do you all always argue when he tries to bring up this?
Yes, normally he'll start, he'll get angry with me He does not wanna talk about the situation.
Do you get angry?
Yes, absolutely, 'cause that's my best friend. So, and then you don't wanna, like you barely wanna talk about it. He says he wanna talk about it, but we're here now, he won't stop talking.
So you're not really angry, you're hurt.
I'm hurt. I'm hurt and angry. I'm both.
Okay, both.
Yes, absolutely.
Okay. Have you ever exchanged inappropriate messages with his best friend?
No, I did not. Just more of, but you get the I love you to my best friend. I mean, it's a best friend. She's there. She's there all the time. But that's not your best friend. You're telling her I love you.
Dawson, how do you identify? I just wanna be clear on this.
I am gay, but it, from, I could be bi. I'll say I'm bi. Yeah, I'll identify as bi.
I mean, that's very important to establish because you look at these two people in a couple and you're just like, oh, these two gay guys, this is never happening. But if he identifies as bi, then there's a possibility of this. Okay, Colby, did you know that Did Dawson identify as bi?
No, I thought he was 100% gay.
Oh, so you never had that conversation? Right.
We never, it was never brought up.
Dawson, why didn't you bring that up to him?
I feel, more of my standpoint, I rely a lot more on feelings. I personally feel it doesn't matter if a person's bi, gay, straight, or anything. If you truly love that person, you truly wanna be with that person, then that's what it is. Nothing matters of a label.
Okay, so you told my producers you almost had sex with his best friend. What did you mean by that?
Oh. There was definitely a night.
Colby, I saw your face. You didn't know that.
No, I did not. There was definitely a night that we kind of got a little close, but it was always, it was never, it was never something that would've started 'cause we just both recognized what was going on and it was I was kind of like, no, that's not, that's not at all what I want. 'Cause I do want to be with Kobe at the end of the day.
[Speaker] Okay, so I think I'm ready to unlock both of y'all phones. Y'all ready? [Speaker:AUDIENCE] Yeah. [Speaker] All right, when it came to Dawson's phone, we checked apps, we checked photos, I checked texts, I checked phone numbers and calls and just overall the message on the phone. When it came to apps, Dawson, you have matched and communicated with 130 people on one dating app in the last 40 days. When it came to photos, you received and saved 11 sexually explicit photos. Thank you so much. And the reason this one was interesting and why we brought this one to attention is because this photo was sent And it was sent on Christmas because in the photo, he sent this photo and used the icon Merry Christmas to send it to someone else. Wow, really?
Really?
So over Christmas time.
Christmas, the day of Christmas Day.
This is a new photo that you sent and then put Merry Christmas on the photo.
We were together and this is what you're doing. We were together on this day and you sent a picture.
So you sent a new photo during Christmas to someone else.
Wow.
Okay, well we're not done yet. When it comes to text messages, there were actually no text messages found between Dawson and your best friend. But when we checked the rest of the phone, there were 235 interactions between Dawson and your best friend on Snapchat that I couldn't find because it was deleted. Wow. So it was a mixture of photos and messages.
But you did, I told you, I knew I caught you deleting stuff.
Stuff.
You were doing a lot more than what you're saying. But honestly, I'm doing all these things recently because I'm getting fed up of you treating me how you treat me. You had a conversation with me recently that you would sleep with someone else and I was like kind of just, okay, well I need to move on then if you're gonna do it.
Oh, you said that? Did you say that?
I did.
Was it trying to be spiteful or did you mean it?
Very spiteful. I despised you in some point because of what you did. And let's talk about—
What about the photo though? 'Cause you sent that on Christmas and that's like specific to send a nude to somebody and then hashtag it Merry Christmas with the thing is a pretty clear sign of like, I know what I'm doing here.
Yeah.
Do you wanna explain that to him?
Honestly, that day I'm pretty sure If I could remember, we did get in a huge argument.
So that's why you did that?
Yeah, you said, 'Cause we got in an argument. Is that what you're gonna do every time we're in an argument? Honestly, that would be truly like, that would spite you. Why would it spite, why? Because you treat me like I am nobody. You could talk to anybody, you talk to these people, and I feel like I have to look better. I feel like I have to be nicer this way. You'll not wanna talk to me sometimes. So I feel like, what's my problem?
So Dawson, because I don't want you to fall fully on the sword 'cause we still don't know what's in his phone. So what do you think that we'll find in Colby's phone? Do you think anything at all? He's told you right now that he's, you've told me right now that he's made threats to you that he's gonna go sleep with somebody else.
I definitely think there's something.
You think there's something in his phone? Colby, is there anything you think we're gonna find in this phone?
Mm.
We went through your phone, Colby, and we unlocked apps. Apps, photos, and we went through your phone in general as well. Colby, when it came to your phone on apps, you as well have matched and communicated with 170 people on one dating app over the past 3 years. One of those years you two were together, so there was that. Now when it came to photos, Colby, you saved only one explicit photo from someone else. Now the biggest thing that was a big eye-opener for me is Colby, in the past, 52 days, you had 216,417 interactions with the same man, all romantic in nature.
Exactly, exactly what I thought. But—
So do you wanna talk about that?
Yes, absolutely.
216,000. Do you see that number right there? 216,000.
Exactly.
And they were all romantic in nature.
I specifically told you, who that was and you could tell me who that was.
So did he tell you that he was talking to somebody else?
He told me he was talking with someone else, but he never told me that's the said friend. That is the said friend.
Oh, that's the friend that's sleeping on the couch? Is he really sleeping on the couch?
Yeah.
Have you had sex or intercourse with the other person? Remember, I just went through your phone.
We talked about it, but I have like never, I'd never been able to do it because I was stuck on him.
Still in love with him.
Right, I'm still in love with Dawson. And I mean, I could have these conversations, but they didn't mean anything to me at all.
That's a lot of energy to put in someone else. 216 to say that it doesn't mean anything else. This other guy you were talking to, his emotions are fully involved in you. He is fully attached and you know that. So it's kind of hard for you now to say, well, I'm doing it in spite, because that means you're playing with people's emotions.
Right.
You know what I mean? And that's not okay. Right. I gotta tell you, the truth of this matter is, is that you two are young, sweet men who are trying to figure yourselves out and should be having the freedom to explore the world. Right. You should be having the freedom to do what you need to do to find out who you are, to sleep with who you want to without these boundaries and expectations that neither of you actually wanna hold up to. Because you over here texting and sexting photos and doing stuff. You over here in a whole full over relationship. You a full-on relationship, okay? I was reading these messages like, this ain't to his boyfriend. And so both, neither of y'all wanna be in this right now. I think what has happened is because unfortunately, and this is where we gotta get real, because of the trauma that you experienced and because of the rejection you experienced, this is the person who said, I see you. I see you and I accept you. And so you're holding onto that because you're afraid at such a young age of more people rejecting you or more of losing more people.
Yeah.
Yeah?
Yeah, I do feel that. I feel that. But I do love him.
I know you love him. So I think the first thing we need to do is establish like, even if y'all are not in a relationship, is he family for you?
Yeah.
Will you always be there for him?
Always. Yeah. Let him know that. Anything that, You need, and you know this, I'll have your back through anything.
You're gonna have to start to figure out how to trust that. And it's gonna take time. But I promise you at this young age, if you can start to practice trusting that people won't leave me and people won't reject me, and I understand what you've been through, so it's gonna be difficult. Right. But the more you can practice that is the more you're not going to get into relationships that aren't healthy and stay in them just because you don't want them to leave. "Right." He's not gonna leave. This is family. He's gonna be there for you. I'm gonna tell y'all something. The beauty of sort of LGBT relationships is that we don't have the same definitions or the same, we don't process the same sometimes as straight relationships. "Right." My first boyfriend is still to this day my best friend. We call, we talk. He's like a brother to me now. You don't have to fear that you're gonna lose him. "Right." But what I will tell you is that fear is bringing up a very negative side of you where you're then saying things to him that are hurtful. And sometimes people who have been rejected, they start to test people to see if they're gonna, I can push them away and say things to see if they're gonna stay. And that's a personality flaw and you've gotta fix that now at 18. Can you apologize to him?
I'm sorry, Dawson, and you know I love you a lot. I will be the first to admit I'll tell you stuff and I don't mean it and it's outta spite. A lot of stuff, but the way it comes off to you, it probably does seem like I mean it. And I'm very sorry and I don't, like, I'll work on everything.
Can you receive that?
Yes.
Yeah. And can y'all break up officially? Go ahead and do it here. That's gonna be a happy ending for me.
Love you.
Love you.
But it gotta end. Gotta end.
Amen. Thank you. Listen, on this show, sometimes we be like, It's hard to stay together, but sometimes hugging and going apart is gonna be the healthiest for y'all. Now that y'all broken up, y'all are next door neighbors, y'all are friends, okay? I love y'all. Y'all gonna be okay together, all right? Everyone, thank you for being with us. Come back next time, friends, so we can keep talking and growing. I love you all.
Michael and I have been married for 2 years, very happy. We got married and then I went to prison for 6 years. I was gone, Michael got engaged to LaShawna. I'm here to get my damn husband back. I know Michael isn't happy with her like he was when he was with me. I know my husband still loves me. LaShawna can never compete with our history. It's time for Michael to honor his marriage. I'll be damned if I let him go. We have the divorce papers. He's ready to get the divorce from her.
Okay.
She just won't sign them.
Are these the divorce papers?
Yes, they are.
Let me see. Okay. I'm gonna hold onto these if you don't mind.
No problem.
All right, no, I appreciate it. So how did you and Michael get together?
We met at the job. I was already in a different kind of relationship, you know, and we just, Started talking. I was talking to somebody else.
Okay.
We just started hitting it off with each other.
But did you know he was married at the time?
Not at the time.
Okay.
He told me later on that he was married to her.
How long into the relationship did he tell you?
About a month or so.
A month in?
Yeah.
Okay.
About a month in.
And how long y'all been together?
We've been together almost a year.
A year.
He's been in Arkansas. He's been there in Fort Smith for a year. For almost a year.
Got it. So a month in he tells you, "I'm married." What was your reaction?
I was kind of upset at first 'cause he didn't say anything right off that he was married to somebody. He told me that it was over with, he didn't want to be with her no more. And so I took him at his word, you know? Figured, okay, he's gonna get divorced from her. And you know, he's told me, "I'm divorcing her." So what did Michael tell you about Demita? Really didn't tell me too much about her other than she was just bad for him. You know, she was controlling, she would put him out, they argued a lot. He wasn't happy in that situation.
That's what his words are?
That's what he told me.
And we have a message Ameeta sent you on Facebook. Was this how you learned that she was a trans woman?
Yes, that's how I learned.
Okay. Hey, when you have time, please call me, baby gal. You can have him if you want because he's still my husband. And yes, I'm transgender, was born a male, been with Mike since 2006, met him in prison. Yes, I am a male. Okay, okay. She was trying to say that to you to discourage you from continuing?
Yeah, yeah, she thought that was just gonna be a problem for me and him. You know, she thought that I was gonna leave him.
But you said no, you were like, "Baby, I don't care what he did." I mean, that's your past, we all have one. Okay.
You know, and so whatever.
And you're like, "I'm the future." You know, yeah. Okay, I understand. Is Demetra the one thing that's stopping you from getting married?
Yeah.
That's it?
She is.
Okay then.
She is.
All right. How often has he tried to give her these divorce papers?
He's only tried to file, he's tried to give it to her one time.
One time. Okay, okay. Only reason I'm asking is 'cause I don't know any, their side of the story, but I'm just trying to figure out like, you know, my granny used to say it all the time, words are not as strong as actions, so. I can ask you a million times.
Right.
But you know.
He calls me every time he go to work. Really? He's on me at work. Really? He's telling me he still love me. And actually he knows that I done moved and was telling me that he's coming to move with me. Oh. I have all the receipts, baby. But he has filed papers. Marriage license. Oh.
My marriage license.
He has filed for divorce.
Can I see this?
Yes.
Thank you.
He never mentioned anything to me about signing no papers. Never even told me anything about no papers. Oh, okay.
So, I mean, just like you brought your receipts, you brought your receipts. This is a marriage license, okay? Yes. You said, I am the wife.
I am the wife and I'm gonna take my husband back home with me. He's coming home with me.
So did you know that they were being intimate on Like through FaceTime?
No.
She's also saying that they communicate when he goes to work. Did you know that?
He's told me that he's talked to her. Oh. He has told me that he has talked to her.
So it sounds like he's painting a whole different picture for you of what's going on.
He is, he is, he is. Yes, he is.
So why did you two separate?
First and foremost, I went to prison for 6 months.
Okay.
And we separated by me going to prison.
Uh-huh.
Other than that, He was writing me, he was sending me money. I got out, we talked, telling me how much he loved me, he ready to come back home.
I mean—
If he was ready to come back home, why didn't he just leave? That was when I had first got released from prison in July of last year. But he still could have had time to leave 'cause he had been with baby. Well baby, like I said, I don't know what you and my husband got going on, but I come to take my husband back home with me. Well, he's not going back whether you want him to or not, he ain't coming back. So all you need to do is just sign these damn divorce papers. That's all we need. My husband know I will never give him a divorce. He knows that. Okay, we'll see. We will see. We will see today. We will see today. I mean, he's told me that he loves me. Trees, honey. He's told me that he wants to be with me. He wants to marry me. He wouldn't have never put this ring on my finger.
When did he ask you to marry him?
When? About a month and a half ago.
A month and a half ago.
Mm-hmm.
And—
We actually have a date set to get married.
So I'm gonna ask you a legitimate question, and this is no judgment. This is for me to understand facts. If you know he's still married and he hasn't signed the divorce papers, why would you accept a ring of engagement?
Because he has told me he's getting the divorce.
Okay, okay.
He has told me that he's getting a divorce. So he's been telling you this, he didn't tell me that.
And when's the wedding?
When's the wedding? One thing about it, Demita ain't signing no papers.
September 21st.
Never.
So on September 21st, you're supposed to be getting married?
Yes.
Okay. Well listen, we've heard both sides of this and I think it's time to hear the person that's in the middle of all this. So let's introduce Michael to the show. Everyone come on out.
How you doing, Sexton?
Get out the gas, man.
How you doing?
Okay, so how do you feel about what was just said, Michael? This is my baby. Okay, real talk. What she took me through, I would never ever jeopardize my future. This woman have put me out. This woman is with a man right now that tried to destroy me. Demetria, you have a relationship right now?
No, I do not, sir.
Okay. You don't?
No, I was dealing with a guy.
The same guy that shot me? That tried to destroy me, she moved him in. Pictures on her Instagram, they together. This woman called the rehab where I was, the director, and told them to drug test me because I was getting high. Broke me and my family up. When I was homeless, before I even got homeless, She telling me, "Your family don't want you. You nasty." Yes. So what happened? I wasn't interested, but she wanted to control the whole situation. She knew I didn't have nowhere to go, so she was the only one I had to depend on. But that was before you— She cheated on me. I even went to the truck and she had a condom sitting on the console and she showed it to me. She was like, "Yeah, I'm finna go fuck." And she did that.
Okay, rewind that a little bit, baby. The reason why I— Rewind what? The reason why I said—
It ain't nothing that you could justify on that.
Okay, the reason why I did tell you—
Nothing, I don't care if you told me or you didn't tell me, you cheated.
I did that, I did that, reason why.
And then you expect me to come back to you?
The reason why.
After you done made me lose several jobs? Baby. You have put me out.
Yeah, you put me out. I'm your husband. What you do to me?
You could have told me to go to another room. You moved me out your bedroom.
Yeah, I told him get out my bedroom.
Exactly.
Go in the other room. Exactly.
How? Why?
Mike, come on, let's go.
What you mean?
Let's talk about everything I did to you.
You deserved it. Okay, what did he do to you? Because you're saying you're owning up to this stuff. You're saying yes, I did, I did have sex with with him and I did call the rehab place where he was working to get a drug test.
The reason why I put him out my room, because he was on drugs.
So was you.
Yeah.
Demita's a pill head. You did bring us here because you wanted to unlock Demita's phone. You told my investigators you wanted to know if she was making up the Facebook profiles to harass you online. That was a question you had, correct? Yes. Well, I think it's time to unlock the truth on that. Thank you. All right, Lashawna, you want to know if Demita is making making up Facebook profiles to harass you online. Demita says she is not. My Unlock the Phone investigators searched through her apps and DMs and found that Demita is telling the truth. There is no evidence that Demita has been making up any other social media profiles. My Unlock the Phone investigator also found that Demita is telling the truth about having contact with Michael. There have been 25 phone conversations between them over the past 2 months. In the past 2 weeks. And what was interesting, my investigator wanted us to know, is that Michael, you initiated majority of those conversations. So you were calling her.
Then you tell me.
Because look, my investigator also confirmed that the FaceTime screenshots are from this month.
Check it out.
The reason why. Did you know that? The reason why I got in touch with Demetra, because of the simple fact, Shawna got them texts. Why you gonna blame it on me?
Hold on. 'Cause who else would have access to see your Facebook?
I mean, we now know that it's not her roommate's friend.
I really don't— 'Cause I've had friends that she's been having send Facebook messages to me. But look, who else would send texts? Why would I contact you? Why would anybody be so concerned? This was my property. He's not your property. I said this was my property.
I'm not nobody's property.
Okay, baby, okay. Well, that's my husband. That's my husband.
Demetra, Demetra. You need to sign these papers today.
I'm not gonna sign no papers. You know I told you I would never get a divorce from you. Like you told me.
Well, Mr. Karamo and his security team can get you to sign them papers.
No, sir.
Okay, well, I think, I mean, this is what we talk about in court. Because look, this woman bring me so much peace.
Baby, you said that before you was with me.
Michael, this is the moment. After a month and a half. You have choices. You have two choices here. Divorce or go back with your wife. You choose which one you want.
Divorce.
My bad. See, that's your decision. You had your marriage license and you can get them divorce papers. So you just want her to keep the marriage license?
She can keep them.
Put them in the frame, put them on social media. I don't care what you do with them, but sign them papers, please.
Baby, please, don't take that home. Take that back home.
'Cause this woman right here.
I ain't worried about that woman.
But I am.
Okay, but you'll be calling me.
I'm worried about this woman. Demita, unfortunately he's telling you that he does want a divorce. I'm worried about this woman. He does want a divorce. Why is it that you still wanna stay in it?
Because I know he coming back.
You's a damn liar and the truth ain't in you.
Why would you wanna be with somebody that won't want you?
I would never ever come in here. The only reason why I even got with you because my mom passed.
Other than that, everybody— Baby, no, let's correct that. You got with me because you needed an address to parole out to.
My mom had passed. I got a house down there.
Okay, well, baby, your sister staying in it. It ain't even worth living in it. See what I'm talking about? It's not even worth living in it. See, you always trying to throw a wrench in things. Because I'mma keep it 100, and you know I am. So all that faking and lying and shit is over with. You will be calling me. For what? You tell me. I've been living my life and doing me, but you steady calling me. I don't call you. You'll block me.
You the one begging me to come back.
Oh yeah, most definitely. Baby, you know I'm not gonna sign no papers. I'm really sick and tired of this shit.
Babe, listen to me.
Make it look good, baby.
This is me and you.
Make it look good, 'cause I know one thing. You hear me? I hear you. He'll be back.
This right here.
He gonna front.
That's history.
He been lying all his life.
This right here, this is the future. You know I love you. You know I would do anything for you. I would never ever in my life ever go back to a toxic situation. Okay. Only because you made a conscious choice. I damn near died.
Because when you came home, you had the world with me and still come right to this day. That's for natural shit. Okay, but still, your family did it to you but me.
For natural shit.
I'm not thankful for that.
Demita and Michael, I appreciate both of y'all being on the show. I'm gonna ask both of y'all to step backstage so y'all can have more of this conversation about this. I'm gonna talk to you for a little bit. My bad. But thank you so much for being here.
My emotions is like all over the place at this moment. I mean, I don't, I'm mad for the simple fact that he just is not doing what he's supposed to do, what he said that he was going to do.
And I understand that, but my question for you is what are you supposed to do? Because you can't control this man's actions, but what you can control is what you're allowing yourself to receive and understanding what you deserve. You're too mature to be playing these games.
Yeah.
Right?
Come on now.
I don't know what's been going on. I wish I could understand what happened with your self-esteem, what happened in past relationships. But there's something that's making you think that this is what you deserve. You deserve better.
You deserve better. You hear them?
You deserve better than this. Yeah. Yeah. I do. You really do. I'm being honest with you. Yes, I know Demina just got outta prison, but you don't deserve to be in a life sentence with this man. I just pray that you hear my words, you hear this audience encouragement, and you see the beautiful woman you are. Listen, you have risen above, all right? But sometimes when you rise above, you gotta go ahead and fly away and leave that behind, all right? So please do yourself a favor and don't get back involved in this. Let them stay backstage and let you fly somewhere else. Don't go along with this. Anymore, okay? You deserve more than this. You do. And if nobody else has told you, Karamo's telling you, all right?
I wish you the best of luck. Thank you so very much, Karamo, for helping me through this, um, something that I wasn't willing to face, but I believe I have the courage to do it, to face it all now, to move on with my life. Michael, I'm not sure what you want in life, but it's clear that it's not me. I need to leave this behind and not deal with this toxic situation.
