In this raw, first‑person account, the speaker recounts a cascade of traumatic events that began with the 2010 murder of their mother. After the murder, the speaker and their sister Chanel moved in with another family member who subjected the speaker to severe physical and emotional abuse—beatings, food deprivation, and being forced to sleep on a snowy porch. Two years ago the speaker finally reported the abuse, hoping for safety, but Chanel denied any wrongdoing to investigators, effectively abandoning the speaker. As a result, the speaker fled, experienced homelessness, and relied on the support of various strangers. The narrative ends with a profound sense of betrayal and an expressed doubt about ever being able to trust Chanel again.
