They Made Fun Of Me But I'll Prove Your Dead Son Is My Baby's Dad! | KARAMO

In a televised segment of the Karamo talk show, 17‑year‑old Kamiyah appears to discuss a mysterious message her grandmother Rhonda received from a woman named Ladacia. The message alleges that Ladacia’s baby, Jersey, is the child of Josh – Rhonda’s deceased son who died in 2022 after a period of incarceration. Kamiyah, who lost her own father (Josh) three years earlier, learns that she may have a half‑sister. The conversation unfolds with Kamiyah describing her close relationship with her late father, her family structure (six siblings, living with her grandmother), and her emotional reaction to the possibility of a new sibling. Ladacia recounts her past relationship with Josh, the lack of support she received, and her long‑standing friendship with Kamiyah’s mother. Rhonda, Josh’s mother, expresses shock, grief, and a cautious openness, acknowledging her son’s street‑life background and the pain of possibly missing years with a grandchild. Karamo mediates, promising to reveal DNA test results, offering emotional support, and emphasizing that the new child does not diminish Josh’s love for Kamiyah. The DNA results confirm that Jersey is indeed Rhonda’s granddaughter, leading to an emotional revelation for all parties. The segment ends with Karamo encouraging the family to process the news at their own pace, highlighting themes of secrecy, grief, family bonds, and teenage responsibility.

Kamiyah's father tragically passed away 3 years ago, but her grandmother got a message from a woman just 5 months ago saying he had a baby. Let's meet Kamiyah and hear more about this message. So everyone, please welcome Kamiyah to the show. Hi, Kamiyah. Hi, Karamo. Can I give you a hug?
Yes.
Nice to see you. I saw her backstage and I was like, you look so good. Yes, okay. So tell us about this message that you received from your grandmother.
So basically, I was in my room, I'm a little nosy, I like to listen to her conversations sometimes just in case she's talking about me. And so she was talking to my aunt and they were talking about this lady that was like, who's, what's her name, you know what I'm saying? She come from, I don't even see her in the place that we be around and stuff like that. So I go in there and I'm like, what's going on? What text, you know what I'm saying? So I take my grandma's phone and I'm reading the message and she's like, "Hello, Miss Rhonda, you know what I'm saying? Me and Josh," that's my dad, "we slept together and some stuff happened and—" Is this the message right here?
Yes. "Hey Miss Rhonda, how are you doing? I'm Josh, a good friend. I just wanted to let you know, Jersey, I believe she is his and I just want you to see her for yourself." And your grandmother, I guess, said, how old is she? When was she born? Why did she wait so long?
'Cause he only passed away 3 years ago. Wow. So you could have been like, said something. Something, yeah. You should have, you know, at least, or tried to get to know any of us or anything, you know what I'm saying? And so she sent, you know, pictures of the baby.
Me and Josh talked about, but we had only done something twice and I was in a relationship with someone I had been in a relationship with so long, just 4 months ago, "We got a DNA test and 3 months ago, my supposedly baby daddy told me she wasn't his. So I know it was Josh's. I was so hurt when he died. I've been torn about it, but she knows of him and she asks about him all the time. I'm so sorry for your loss." Oh my gosh, that's a lot.
Yeah.
How did you react when you heard about this message? Because you're 17, right? And so like you didn't know about any other little potential sister.
I don't know if he did know about it. I don't know what conversations they had. But if something had happened and something was that serious to why, you know what I'm saying, they did something, it could possibly potentially be his child out there, he would've told someone.
Yeah, tell me about your relationship with your father.
My relationship, it's good, you know, like the common daddy's girl. I'm always around my dad as much as I can. Well, I was. I could be, you know what I'm saying? Like my grandma, we was always, it was just always us. And we always, you know, had that open conversations. You know, it was never no like secrets with us because like I'm the oldest of like 6 kids.
You were 13 when he passed? Yes. Question, is your mother in your life still?
Yes, but I live with my grandma, but she's definitely still in my life.
And you lived with your grandma since your father passed?
Mm-hmm, before my father passed. Before your father passed.
And you have 5 other siblings, you said? 6.
6 other siblings. 2 on my mom and then 4 on my dad's.
Okay, and do they all live with you? No. Okay.
None of them live with me.
Okay, so are you worried about this DNA test?
Yes, because I've been being the big sister since forever. And not saying I wouldn't open her, but I'm big sister out. Like, I have a lot of siblings and like, I gotta deal with that forever. So it's always, Kamiah this, Kamiah that. Like, Kamiah, you know what I'm saying? Like, so I've been dealing with it. I mean, I'm not gonna like knock her down, but I'm like, dang.
Yeah, okay. It's hard. Well, listen, Kamiah, I'm gonna do this because I love talking to you. You're very smart. But listen, I'm gonna send you backstage because I know you said you mature for your age, but I gotta talk to some grown folks and we gotta have some grown folk conversation, okay? So I'm gonna see you backstage. But listen, when we figure out these results, I'm gonna make sure that we come to you immediately. Because you deserve to be involved and understand the scope You know what I mean? No more secrets being kept from you. And so I wanna make sure that if she is your sister, I know you big sister out, but you know, I can help you with some tools on how to like set some boundaries. And if she's not, we can also help you to understand that you know how to move on past this because it's a lot for you. But no matter what the results are, I want you to always remember that a new child doesn't take away any love that your father had for you. Okay? I just always want you to know that. All right? So I'm gonna see you backstage. All right? And I'll see you back there in a little bit. All right? See you in a bit. So I wanna meet the woman who sent this message. So everyone, let's meet Ladacia. Welcome her to the stage. Hi, Ladacia. Hi. How are you?
I'm all right.
Nice to meet you. Hi. So let's get into this message you sent to Kamiyah's grandmother, Rhonda. What made you message her?
Naturally, I'm a truthful person. Of course. And it was, a very unknown scenario. I was deeply in love with who I thought was Jersey's father, allegedly. The first time I posted Jersey, Josh reached out to me and he said, "She is so photogenic, as if she was mine." That stuck with me. I was in denial. Josh was gone. I couldn't surprise him with this news. I had no one to talk to. People made fun of me for years. They sent me screenshots comparing me and his other child's mothers. They compared my child. I didn't have too much support other than Corey, other than my mom, other than— family barely fooled with her. She looks similar to his kids, but it was a very absent relationship for sure. So I just wanted to at least allow her to have that alarm. Yeah, of course.
Take me back to how did you and Josh meet?
I don't know if I'm supposed to be as truthful as I'm supposed to be, but— Yeah, of course. The crazy part about all of this is I actually do know Kamiyah. Oh, you do? Yes. Me and her mother were best friends. We grew up together, went to high school together. Wow. I knew when Kamiyah was conceived, we were happy about it. Wow. This was before me and Josh. I didn't even know Josh at that point.
Of course, you didn't know Josh.
I didn't know about his mother. I didn't know any of these things. But for the most part, it hurt me so bad because she does not know me. I was, you know, that was my best friend then. So I'm excited. Hey, Kamiyah, you know, as a baby, hey best friend, you having this baby. We broke off, of course, as high school went on. But me and Josh met up in Indianapolis. Wow.
Well, I think it's time to hear what Rhonda has to say about this. So everyone, please welcome Josh's mother, Rhonda, to the show. Hello, how are you?
They said you was gonna give me a hug.
I'm gonna give you a hug, of course. I'm mad I missed my hug. I know.
Well, I'm gonna give you one as well, love. Thank you so much. Thank you for being here. So were you shocked by the message you received?
Absolutely, I was shocked. You know, it really caught me by surprise. You know, I never expected it because my family is so close-knit. You know, and me and Joshua, we were so open, open about everything. Other times when girls, females, young ladies would say, "This is Joshua's baby," Joshua, he would come to me and they turned out not to be his kids.
[Speaker:KARAMO] Yeah, but he was always open with you?
[Speaker] Yeah. I don't know La'Deasha. I don't know anything about her, but I know my son.
So y'all have never met before? No, no, sir. And you've never heard of her before? No, no, sir.
And my son, you know, he's not here no more, unfortunately. But—
He passed away in 2022. Yes, sir.
Can you tell me what happened? My son lived a street life. You know, I'm not ashamed of it. He lived a street life. He was incarcerated. He passed away. Well, he passed away 3 weeks after he got out of prison after being gone for 2 years. Oh wow. It's like I'm still grieving my son's death. Of course, of course you are. I don't dismiss what she says about her child. I just don't know. And I just don't understand it.
What do you think of LaDacia? What do I think of her?
Yeah. Well, I'm not ignorant to the street, you know, 'cause my lifestyle has not always been my lifestyle that it is now. So I know my son's lifestyle, And so, the things she told me when we did have, we've had one conversation, and the things she told me for that situation to happen, she had to have dabbled in that lifestyle for a while. And I dabbled in it for a while too, for many years, but I was able to bring myself up out of it. I have. And if it turns out that she's not my grandchild, I wish no ill will. Wouldn't have no pain at all. I wish no ill will to this young lady. I hope she finds out.
Well, I think it's time to solve. So, Nadesya, are you ready?
I'm gonna do it.
So, Nadesya, in this envelope is the DNA truth. This is your truth to open, not mine. So here you go.
—wasn't tonight.
You know what's crazy? Before I do this, I have been tortured. I have had people make fun of me. I just lost everything. I have nothing. I have been hurt with you because Josh is my friend. My fiancé knows. And the reason why God blesses me so abundantly Regardless to whatever situation is because Jersey is your granddaughter. Jersey is your granddaughter and she looks just like you. She looks just like you. She's yours. Come on back and meet your daughter. I am not promiscuous. I was not lying to you. I only had two partners and I want you to have that. And my mother is watching and our families are watching and the people that made fun of me now have zip ties across their mouths and wait till my birthday because the truth is gonna reveal. Amen.
So you got another grandbaby, little Jersey.
And she's the best kid ever, by the way.
Beautiful. Well, I'm happy to be another K in y'all's journey. You know what I mean? I ain't one of them Ks.
By the way, she has a J name, so Josh and Jersey.
Oh, Josh and Jersey, we gotta do. Listen. I'm so happy that you got your answers and that you've been vindicated, you know what I mean? And I'm glad that you all are able to now come together. You now have answers so this family can start to build and grow together. Rhonda, how are you feeling?
Oh boy.
You my girl now. That's my girl now.
I don't know, I'm gonna have to go home and break the news to the rest of my family.
Well, we gotta break— At least Jersey knew. Yeah, Jersey knew. Well, we gotta go break the news to Kamiah. I did send her backstage just 'cause I think for grown folks, like when we were talking about certain things, I know she said she matured for her age, but I'm always like, no, you don't need to be in all conversations yet. Even though she says she nosy, she check your phone, so just know. So let's go backstage and we can tell her together. Yes. Hey. So we here 'cause we got some news for you. Oh, I'm opening it?
Yeah, I already seen it.
You can open it. Yeah, you can open it.
You already seen it.
Oh, you got another little sister. I know you said you big sister now, but I, I— you— life is love. From her mother is that you have a wonderful little sister who I don't think you're gonna have to have the pressure of being a big sister, like taking responsibility.
I hate we missed 5 years of this child's life. Yeah, I know. And I hate my son never got to know her. I'm okay with warming up and getting to meet the little girl and getting to know her and getting to know her personality and know about her. It's just that It's not just me. Yeah, of course.
It's gonna take time. It's gonna take time.
It's not gonna happen overnight. And I don't want LaDacia to get her expectations up too high. I know she was sure, and I know she knows her daughter, and I know she— But you're grieving. It's gonna take some time.
It's gonna take some time. Karamo, what are your thoughts right now?
Um, I of course wanna meet her.
I wanna talk to the mom. I'm at a loss for words right now.
It's a lot to process, and I think that's the biggest thing. You get to take your time on this. Neither of you were involved in the decision-making that Josh and Ladejia had, so you get to process, you get to take time with this. And at the end of the day, what I know to be true is that your heart is full of love. We found out earlier, and she'll tell you, Ladejia, is that she actually knew you when you were born.
When you was a baby.
She knew your mother. They went to high school together, were best friends. And so she's best friend, she was best friends with your mom. So she was there when you were born and knew you, so. What's her name? Aladejia. Aladejia. Yeah. It's good that you get pieces in some chunks because at 17, I want you to keep on focusing on how amazing you're gonna be. And sometimes you don't need all the adult, I know you nosy 'cause I was nosy like you, but you don't need all the adult information, okay? You know what I mean? Well, listen, I'm going to bring her back so y'all can all talk. Congratulations. Congratulations. All right? And I'm here for y'all. All right? All right. Here, let me give you a hug. Let me give you a hug as well.
I wasn't there when you were born. I just— we kind of broke off. We were in high school. But [MASKED] was my best friend. So it was never that. It was a secret. I just was with someone. Josh looked at my baby. And said, "She look like she could be mine." What changes now is I have 6 grandchildren now.
