You Blocked Me From Grandma's Funeral! | KARAMO

Shannon says her cousins Sarah and January blocked her from a family chat and the grandmother's funeral, spreading rumors about her drinking. Chapters
So tell me, what is going on with you and your cousin?
This is what's going on, this family group chat. Uh-huh. My cousin, she cannot say anything to me. I do not like her at this point. She's really dead to me at this point.
Oh, wow.
They created a family group chat and left me out of it when my grandma passed away. Oh. This what they did.
OK.
They talked about me like a dog. My daughter put me back in the group chat.
So this is why you're grieving your grandmother?
Why I'm grieving my grandmother. I'm the closest thing to her. She came to my house every day. They was never around. And I'm the only one that was put outta this group chat.
Got it, okay.
It really pisses me off.
So there's parts of this that you wanted me to see that you've also shared with my producers?
Yes. They put a lot of stuff.
So they said you contributed to your grandmother's funeral? Contribute. Stupid ass.
That bitch, yes. Yes.
I don't think Shannon should be allowed to come to Grandma's funeral.
Yes, yes.
They didn't want you to come?
They didn't want me to come. I'm the only person they didn't want to come.
And you were also the closest, you said.
I was the closest.
Oh my gosh, okay. Well, so this is crazy. So your grandmother came to your house every single day?
Every day from—
Was there jealousy on their behalf?
Yes, because I was the favorite. I was her favorite.
Yeah.
My grandmama came to me, she bought me anything, she did anything for me. Got it. And they always was envious of this. Got it. And then when it's time to go plan to get her dress, they had to call my sister and ask me to ask her her size because I'm the one that went with her.
Yeah, so you're the one that did it.
They didn't know her size, her favorite color, they didn't know anything about her.
Got it.
And it really pissed me off.
So how did you find out about your grandmother's viewing?
After they kicked me out the group chat.
Yeah.
I had to call the funeral home. I called, and I was like, "Yes, this Shanna, I'm trying to see what, you know, when it's happening." Oh, they was like, "Oh, it's gonna be on Friday." Now, mind you, this Thursday. Yeah, nobody told me nothing.
Were you close to your cousin before this?
Yeah, we were close. My grandmama kept both of us.
Yeah.
You know, so we did grow up together.
Yeah.
And, you know, me and her were really close. You know, we used to hang out, chill, cook, barbecue, stuff like that.
Yeah.
But then, When you start coming to me and talking about me behind my back to people, I didn't like that.
Of course. What happened when Sarah came to your home after your grandmother died?
After my grandmother died, she came, her, she brought her mother over there. They came to look around to see if we had something to eat and whatever. And then, they basically, I was drinking because my grandmama had just died. Basically, they went back and told other family members I'm over there drunk and all this stuff and I need to stop drinking. And I'm like, where this come from? So don't come back over here. Y'all came to gather information and you took it back there to the other family members and now all y'all against me.
Got it. So you feel like it wasn't really concern, it was more so for gossip.
It's for gossip. It was for tea, as they say.
Okay, yeah. Okay.
They wanted some tea.
So from your opinion, do you think you have a drinking problem?
No, I do not have a drinking problem for the simple fact is, They say I have a drinking problem, but it's not a problem when they drop their kids over to my house. I've always kept them kids, I've always kept everybody kids in the family. So if I'm a drunk, why would you drop your kids off? I mean, and everything we have, I don't care if it's a baby birthday party, y'all bring liquor. As you could say, see, they say I didn't contribute nothing. So Shannon don't have no money, Who's Shandell getting liquor from? They already have it there. And they have it for me. Oh girl, we got you something to drink. So it works when it works for them.
First of all, I wanna say I am here out of love for my cousin.
Okay.
Like she said, we—
So you come in peace?
I come in peace.
Okay.
You talking about huh, you don't believe it.
This is officially our family crash out.
Okay. A crash out, wow.
As she has spoken so negatively about our family, and everyone has done everything they could to help our cousin.
Got it.
She's down and out.
What have y'all done to help me?
You know what we've done to help you. What would you done? I've given you a car.
Oh, you— Okay, okay, but, but, but, how long ago that was? And how many things I done did for you, baby? So let's not bring up—
You've never done anything for me.
And you gave me that red glad car. Did I give her a car? Please, stop.
Anyway, stop, please. So I gave her a car, I've given her a car, I've helped her with her children.
She helped me with my children. When? 'Cause I raised all 4 of them, baby. I raised all of them on my own. With my grandmama's help. She ain't help me nothing.
As she just said, with my grandmother's help. She is always the person that needs everyone to help.
'Cause my grandma wanna help me?
It's not just my grandmother. Her lights are about to get turned off. She's lost her food stamp card magically, month after month.
She has no food in her house. But I got food stamps. I own a house.
You have food in the house?
Two deep freezers, baby, full. Two deep freezers. I put them stuff, they cooked it.
She's gonna easily get lost, her children are hungry. There's always something that she needs.
My children ain't never been hungry.
So at the end of the day, we have always been there to help my cousin who is very disrespectful, very belligerent to our family, very nasty.
Girl, look how big I am. You think I'm hungry? You think I'm hungry?
Hungry, nothing.
I can say this. Hungry ain't nowhere, baby. I can say this.
Has recently put back on weight.
What?
Because Ashley has spoken about the family crackhead. She has been that as well.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, let's talk about the family crackhead.
I just want what's best for my cousin. I want her to do better. We are grandparents now ourselves.
Oh yeah, I sure am.
Why would you be on social media cursing?
Because I can do that, 'cause it's my damn page. Block me.
And you have been.
Oh, good, good.
So, Sherry, and so because of these issues, is that why you took her out of the group? Group chat?
Well, yes, so my grandmother passed away. Where's the paper? If you look at the— Our group chat is called We Love Shirley Mae. We had to start another one because of how nasty she was in the first one.
Y'all love Shirley Mae now, since she gone. So y'all will know them tonight.
So we're only seeing her side.
So we're only seeing her side. This is our family group chat.
Hold on, hold on. Don't get cute.
Y'all better get her, 'cause I'm telling you.
Don't get cute.
Y'all better get her.
Don't get cute. Don't take your paper out my hand. I am trying to explain. Get my paper. No, this is my paper.
She gave you one. I am trying my best because this girl is nasty.
She am, she never told you that.
These are the things that said, come down here and meet me, please come.
Oh yeah, come on down.
You see her telling you to come meet her?
Anybody else want problems, come meet me, come down here, meet me down here. So you just saying like if you had issues with me, you could fight.
First of all, first of all, if you was so grown, you could have very well came over there that night you was talking 'til you brought your mom over there. You could've talked to me then. You didn't. But you took information back, talking about I was drinking. I damn right I was drinking. You drink every day though. That's not anything to tell.
I don't drink.
Girl, girl. All the liquor bars I come to. Everybody in the club be selling liquor bars.
I have grown children who may drink. But again, it's my house.
I have a job.
I own my own home, cars.
So, I was drunk though.
What?
You do drink though. Okay, okay, so if I drink then what?
I'm not drunk though. You're not drunk either. That's the difference.
When? How many DUIs I got? What is a DUI? How do you get a DUI? I don't even have no car. Babe, you don't even have no car. I got two cars. How you gonna have no car? Let me ask you this. I got two cars.
'Cause I wanna go back to the funeral. Did you prevent Shannon from going to the funeral?
No one prevented Shannon from coming to the funeral. Again, there was some discrepancy with my grandmother's funeral policy. So we all had to get together to plan her funeral. I don't think Shannon should be allowed Shannon gets in the family group chat, curses everyone out, calls us fake. Now mind you, my aunt is coming out of her pocket over $10,000 to bury my grandmother, which is my aunt's mother. So my aunt is coming out of pocket for this and Shannon gets in, "Oh, y'all some fake ass bitches. Oh, y'all don't know what my grandmother wanted. Y'all don't know my grandmother, she didn't like none of y'all." Y'all not her favorite, so of course, because we're trying to pick out colors, cash, because y'all don't know these things.
If you would have been around her, you would have known her. That's not the point. If you would have been around her, you would have known her side.
See, this is the problem. You would have knew her side. That's why nobody wants to deal with her. I don't care.
This is why she got kicked out of the family. Because you know why?
Because she talks so much and has nothing to say.
Oh yeah, nothing to contribute.
That is why my cousin's note said come contribute to your grandmother's funeral.
But you guys were like, she ain't contribute to a damn thing, 'cause you know what?
Not a dime, penny or a nickel.
Do you think that you're the one who turned the family against Shanna?
No, no, Shanna turns the family against herself. She talks negatively, she's on Facebook talking about how bad our family is.
Yeah, I sure do, I sure did.
I sure did, I sure did.
I'm getting a ping right now.
Because of the similarities.
'Cause we're getting a ping right now and it's from one of your cousins, January.
Yeah, I'm here.
Let me hear what January has to say. Are you ready to unlock your best self? Key is my new wellness app made for you. Fitness, nutrition, meditation, sobriety, better relationships, self-love. 6 keys, 1 app. Change starts today.
So I did kick Shannon out of the group chat because She started to become— to go on a tirade. She did nothing but wanted to fight and argue, and it just was not productive at all. We wanted to lay my grandmother to rest, our grandmother to rest, in a respectful manner, and Shannon is just the agent of chaos. There's nothing that Sarah could have done to make Shannon behave the way that she behaved. It's one thing to have a disagreement with the people that you love, and it's one thing to be all out disrespectful, violent, and then expect everyone to put up with your temper tantrums. And what she is doing is verbal abuse, and she really expects us to put up with it. And, um, no one has to put up with that. And, you know, we love her, but if you choose that you don't want your family that you've been blessed with Then so be it. You won't have a family, at least not with me.
Good. Let me tell you something.
Well, the first thing I realized is that January just admitted that she kicked you out, not Sarah.
Exactly.
So that was the first thing I heard.
Okay.
So I think that's good for the two people we have here now. I'm not saying it was right that she kicked you out, but at least you know this isn't the person who kicked you out.
Okay.
It was January who kicked you out.
Okay. And lemme tell you something. Like I told him, I do have a, I will come full force. I, you know.
Yeah.
What I be saying, when I be saying it, don't be wrong. I make the delivery might be wrong.
Okay.
You know what I'm saying? So I do all of that.
At least you can be accountable for that.
I'm accountable for that. But that don't mean it ain't right. You know what I'm saying? Just 'cause you speak slow and soft don't mean you right all the time. 'Cause you can't fool me with that. Just because I'm loud and uproar don't mean I'm wrong either.
Yeah. So Sarah, you think Shannon may have called protective services because of being kicked out of the group chat?
Right, so after she was kicked out of the group chat, I then get a call to social services. I am now raising, my children are grown, I'm now raising my sister who passed away, I'm raising her two children.
You treated her like a dog.
I treated—
She treated her like a dog. She treated her like a dog.
She knows nothing about my relationship with my sister.
They took her kids.
This is very sad what she's doing.
Yeah, you treated her like a dog.
To try to embarrass us. Again, I have done nothing wrong to this girl, neither my sister. I am raising my niece and my nephew with absolutely no help.
Child, child, child. At the end of the day, for her to be so malicious. You ain't raising nobody.
For her to be so malicious.
So you think she's the one who called?
Right, she is, she is. You see, she wants to deny it because she is. She's the person who called. And this is very sad because she knows the struggle that I have. Like, I'm doing this on my own. I inherited baby daddy drama. I'm not struggling because I work 2 jobs.
You ain't got no struggle when your kids know what I'm talking about. You ain't got no struggle. I struggle 2 jobs.
So I don't have to struggle.
I take care of my business.
Well, my, Cheryl, you apparently had something to say earlier that my producer told me they want me to take a look at.
Can I see it?
Yes.
Sarah think I called CPS on her? Yes, I did. And I'll do it again, plain and simple, because of how she treated me at my grandmother's funeral. And had me blocked out of everything. Yeah. I have no regrets about what I did whatsoever. So yes, I did call CPS on her. And if I had the chance to do it again, I surely would because she very much deserved it. I just don't care at all. Oh, well. OK.
Which is so sad because at the end of the day, again—
OK, so—
At the end of the day, again, the things that I've been through in my life— I am a widow. My husband died. Almost 7 years ago. 6 months later, my sister died.
We know you gonna bring him up.
I became a new single mom and then also becoming a single mom to my mother's children. And so for her to sit here and do that, like, I've been blessed, I got a brand new house, like, things are going well for me. And for her to sit here and call CPS out of malicious, like, being malicious, not because there's nothing going on.
You know why?
'Cause my house is clean.
No, your house is never clean. Your house is never clean, they sat up there and told me talked about.
Well, were the kids removed?
No, the children— the CPS agent said there was no evidence of neglect or abuse on my behalf. My house stays clean.
You a lie, girl. Stop playing. Who house been clean? You been clean since you came out.
Are you serious? So Shannon, you wanted us to—
my house clean.
You want us to— Shannon, to unlock Sarah's phone so that we could get some information for you. So I think it's time to unlock the phone. Fire! All right, Sarah, we unlocked your phone. Actually, Sarah, you refused to unlock your phone.
Exactly, exactly. Because she talk shit about me all the time.
The truth needs no defense.
Yeah, everybody knows me. Yeah, if it was the truth, you would do it.
Everyone who knows me knows me well and they know that I don't speak ill of my child. Now, will we say things that are truly going on?
What the hell y'all do? I don't need no damn help. I need help.
Girl, I ain't never had no beef. And if you look at my messages from the group chat.
How many cock crabs you done had?
The actual group chat that we're here talking about.
Child, whatever.
And you look at my messages, there are messages of love.
Can I tell you something?
Just say that she needs help. I need y'all to both realize something, 'cause I realized this very quickly. I think this family was already borderlining on having issues, having some contentions.
Because of her though.
It ain't because of me, it ain't because of your ass too.
I need you both to hold on.
That's the part.
I actually don't believe I don't believe it's because of either of you. And I would never speak ill of your grandmother, but I believe that anything that happens comes from older generations. And especially when you talk about favoritism, you also said outta your own mouth that your grandmother would say things to you like she doesn't like the others. When we have that type of behavior, it then causes the next generation to feel like I have to be pitted against each other. And so then, so this tells me that this issue started from before then of like, We cousins and I love you, but then I'm also getting conflicting stories. But then what it was compounded by, and I heard this immediately, is that you were grieving and you were grieving in a way that was deeper that I don't think most understood. And I still don't think most understood.
I lost my grandmother and my best friend at the same time.
I know.
At one time.
I know, I know. But this is the thing, while you were grieving, the grieving because people didn't understand. And again, the understanding is not because you didn't try. It's because, again, what happened beforehand, your grieving turned into anger.
Yeah.
And the anger then started to say, you know what? If you're not gonna be there for me, I'm gonna get you first. And what is happening is that now as you're angry instead of grieving, it's now causing a bigger separation.
Yes, you're right. You're totally right.
So my advice to you off this stage and to you is to give her, set a boundary. No more going back and forth. So for you to tell the rest of the family, we're setting a boundary to let you heal. And when you're ready for us to support you in your healing, we're here. And then while they are setting a boundary to respect you and not talk about you, you gotta do the work.
Yeah, my whole world.
This is generational trauma and things that have happened.
Yes.
And so there's an opportunity to break that cycle and for healing to start, but everyone has to be accountable. And I think that you understand and I believe you understand.
Yes.
So I do wish y'all the best of luck.
Okay. All right.
Thank you for sharing this story.
Thank you.
All right.
