Chapters
I've known her for about 17, almost 18 years, back in the day, 2007.
Yeah.
We used to work with each other at a Ford marketing company. Mm-hmm. Got together, young, you know, keep going. Started a little relationship. We had kids, a child back in the day, one child. It was good. Started that, kept going. There was a little, some infidelities going on in the midst of that.
Yeah.
But just being a man, trying to hold down the house, keep the house going, like, all right, that's something we can get past. I'm looking at the bigger picture.
Yeah.
4 years later we had another child. And in the midst of that, it was shaky. So we decided to like end our relationship, but I still stayed around as a parent to this day.
So, yeah. What was the infidelity?
She cheated.
She cheated? She used to cheat. Many times?
Many times.
Many times. With anyone you know?
It was with someone I knew and others that I don't.
And others that you don't know, okay. So do you think you're the father of her 4-year-old twins?
I wanna be, I believe I am.
You wanna be and you believe you are?
I believe I am.
So you have the 2 children together already that you know you're the father of and then there's the twins.
The twins, yes.
So totally you'd have 4 children with her? Correct. Got it. So I know you have the 2 children together. Does he have any other children with anyone else?
Yes.
She does?
Yes.
How many other children does she have with someone else? Or someone else?
She has 7 kids.
Okay, okay, okay, okay. So there's—
3 more outside of, yeah, what we got going on.
Okay, so there's 3 more outside of the 2 you have and these potential twins?
Correct.
Got it, okay then. I understand, I understand. And how old are your other children?
16 and 12.
Okay, 16. So you had them, 'cause you said you have known each other for 17 years. So you had y'all's right when y'all got together?
Right, right.
Got it, okay. And are your older children in question at all?
No.
Not at all. You know those are your babies.
Yeah, that's how I feel.
Yeah, how you feel, but you've never confirmed.
Yeah, never confirmed. Never confirmed.
If the twins are shown not to be your children, will that put doubt in your head about the other children?
It wouldn't put doubt in my head about them. I would just take this pill and swallow it as it is. No, I'm never in that doubtful mind with my children. I don't look at it like that.
Smart man. So your relationship now with her is bad. Are y'all dating? Are y'all not dating?
No.
Does she want a relationship? I don't know.
She probably.
Yeah, but you don't want it. But you don't want it. Yeah, that's over. Yeah. Okay. Are you married now?
Yes.
Yeah. To someone else, obviously.
Yes.
Yeah. And how's that going?
It's good.
Yeah, it's going good. All right. So what will you do today if the twins aren't yours?
It's a question you get asked over and over and over and over again until you're actually in that position and you find out. So I can say a whole bunch of things, but I don't really know until I know.
Got it. I understand that.
But I'm gonna still be there as a father, as a dad.
For the other kids?
For my twins.
For the twins, yeah.
'Cause I'm all they know.
Yeah. Okay. So you would still show up for them? With the twins even if they aren't yours?
Yeah, I can't do that to them.
Okay, okay. So, but today, today you want these kids to be yours?
Yes.
Okay, well listen, I wanna hear Sierra's side of the story, so everyone please welcome Sierra to the show.
Why you making it seem like you the victim or something? We ain't split up 'cause I was cheating. Let's get down to it for real.
I've been cheating.
Yeah, okay.
Been cheating from the beginning.
'Cause you was abusive towards me, that's why.
What led me to get to things to get physical?
What?
What led to me to get physical? I'm not justifying anything, but it got there 'cause I done put myself through so much. But if you cheating and still staying at home trying to take care of the kids.
That's not why, stop it. I tried cheating because you was abusive, that's why. And I tried to stay with you because of our other kids.
You slept with my best friend with, when you were pregnant with my first son. But trying to keep something, trying to keep a father in the home and not have it broke up like everything else is in America. I stayed there and I stomped it, I adjusted, and I just tried to look at the bigger picture. And you still kept going. You still kept going.
They just make it seem like it's me though.
Oh, I know I got bad. I can take it all in.
An old friend of yours that wasn't really a best friend, somebody we used to all work with.
You just wasn't my woman. And I finally realized that over time, trying to make something happen that wasn't ever gonna happen. You wasn't my woman to begin with.
'Cause you wasn't my man. You was doing you and I'm gonna do me.
But I've been here 16 years.
I'm not about to sit around and accept no man's father. But I've been here 16 years constantly. Okay, okay.
On and off.
Constantly, on and off.
Yeah.
Constantly.
And lately you haven't.
Okay.
Do you think the twins are his?
I want 'em to be.
Now she does.
Yeah, now I do. 'Cause they 4 years old. They been around, that's all, he all they know, right?
That's all they know.
Yeah.
Do you have any other suspicions? Do you have suspicions of somebody else? 'Cause I know he said that at the beginning you tested somebody else.
I had someone else tested and he wasn't the father.
He wasn't the father, okay then. Is he a good father to your kids?
When he wanna be, yeah.
When I wanna be.
He ain't been involved as much lately. He was more involved with our older kids. These kids now, it's like when he get in a relationship, he don't think about the kids, just forget the kids.
How does that work?
When you get with somebody, you don't care about your kids. I gotta call you, I gotta beg him to get the kids on the weekend. I don't get no time to myself. I got 7 kids.
I work 7 days. When I can get the time to have my kids, 'cause when I could take off, I get 'em all the time.
I've been hearing that since I've been 17 years old. But I get 'em.
I need some time.
So it's like every other week, all right, I'm not able to do it. You don't appreciate anything that no—
Like what?
That I do. Like that's crazy.
Oh, you buy stuff for them? That's not enough. They need time.
I got more than enough time and more time I'm getting in. Financially, I take care of 'em.
Violence don't mean nothing.
I support him, I talk to him every day.
You said that with the older kids, he did show them time, but with the twins, he doesn't show them time.
How does that work?
He did at first, I don't know what happened lately.
Okay. Well, is it true that you told him the twins are not his?
I told him it might be a possibility of somebody else. I never put all responsibility on him like, these your kids, I told him.
Okay, okay.
How long did it take for you to tell him? It wasn't in the beginning?
I think when I was pregnant because he was, when I was in the hospital, he was trying to get up in the room and my mama was stopping him from going in the room.
When you were having them?
Yeah, when I was at the hospital.
When I came to the hospital and couldn't see my children come out the womb, but I was at every doctor's appointment?
I didn't.
Every doctor's appointment?
Yeah, it's been, it's rocky.
I gotta ask you, how do you feel about the situation?
I'm sorry.
Here you go.
It's been a lot with Sierra and you know it. So don't get on here and lie. About? About? Have I not had your back since your kids been born? Now the twins, I asked you when you were pregnant, you told me no, you weren't pregnant by him. So I have nothing to go off of but what you tell me. But this, and I moved to Georgia.
Maybe 'cause I didn't wanna be pregnant.
I understand that, but this is what I'm saying. I'm saying? Have I not? Anytime you've ever called me, anytime you've ever asked me for anything, have I not given it to you? Have I not tried to help you as a woman? You have hurt my family. Oh no, y'all, you have hurt all of us because you lie, you manipulate. It's always when you want to do something. His kids love him, and those twins, I don't have the best relationship because I moved out of state. I didn't know. She told me they were not his children, or did she wasn't pregnant by him. My son told me about a year after that that they may be his, okay. I offered to get the DNA, I can pay for it. What did you tell me, that you was doing it with the state?
I wanted to do it, but Martell didn't ever wanna do it.
He was scared, I agree, but I don't care what he want, I told you I would pay.
We didn't have to come here to do this.
The thing about it is these are two kids that only know my son and he love them and they love him and I'm like, How do you think it makes me feel as a grandmother to have the other ones here? I do everything for them. We go on vacations, we go Disney World, we go to Vegas for Halloween, spring break. I buy school clothes, winter clothes, summer clothes, whatever they want. And you know that. He's a good father. He might not be perfect, and about him being with somebody else has nothing to do with you 'cause he don't skimp on them.
Yeah, he have. Every time he in a relationship or been in a relationship in the past, he's been cheating.
But you keep worrying about the past. He's married. Do you not understand?
It is worse.
No, baby, because it comes your wife, then your children. Maybe you need to understand that.
But my kids still never did.
He only been with her 4 months. How do they, how do they, how do they know? They only been together 4 months. Married 4 months and they come before your kids.
But they come before your kids though. They don't, nobody. They have, they have. How do you feel about that? How? I want you to first explain.
I can't just step out on my kids. When I want to, I'm with my kids 24/7.
You do.
Sierra, you are disrespecting your own child. You don't never have them, stop pretending. So he don't never have his kids?
No.
Can you FaceTime? We can put a stop to that. FaceTime now.
Y'all need to stop.
No, you need to stop.
Have you and Sierra always had issues in the past?
No, and I've tried to help her in business. Anytime she needs something, I'm connected.
We was close until you got married and she started acting funny.
She started doing this. I just don't know what I'm fixing to do with these twins.
Oh, excuse me?
I started acting funny? No, I don't respond to your stupid mess. You text me and I don't respond. You called me out my name. Have I ever called you out your name?
Yes, you did.
When?
I called you out your name after you called me out my name when you was on Facebook talking about I need to take the mattress off my back.
No, no, no, wait.
I sure did.
I commented on my daughter's page and I said unstrap the mattress to your back. That's what I said.
That your son stay on.
It don't matter. You so worried about him, worry about your babies.
I am worried about my babies.
No, you're not. Because we've been a village and you won't allow him. No, every time he try to do something, Because Sierra, you manipulate that situation. When he wants to do something is when you want him to do it.
Your son been with my family since he been 18 years old.
That's fine.
That's who I've been around. He's grown.
But what he been saying, you haven't been raising him.
Is she a good mother?
But this is your job. And my family has our back. And look what you do.
She's not a good mother. I don't say she needs to do all that.
Why are you still speaking on this? Do I talk about all your messed up and jacked up relationships?
What's jacked up?
What's jacked up? 'Cause Alex been in your situation.
He ain't filled my shoes.
She ain't do me no favors and ain't do nothing for me.
Are you saying she a good mother?
I can say, I'm never gonna say that she doesn't love her kids. I just feel like I tried to be a role model for Sierra because I was a single mother in and outta my life, but I wanted to show her things regardless. But you had a village, you had all of us. I ain't never told you no. Anytime you asked me for, have I ever asked you for a bag? No.
And when he was on the streets, who had his back?
I'm not talking about him.
You wanna talk about him 10 years ago?
Let's talk about right now.
Let's talk about right now.
You talking about the past. Abusive relationships and all this stuff.
Well, I think it's time to unlock the DNA truth here.
Thank God.
So I gotta tell you, since the twins are fraternal, it is a possibility to have separate fathers. I don't know if you know that. So I'm going to let you, I'm gonna let Martell open the envelope separately. Because that's how it works. So in this envelope is the DNA truth for one of your twins. Here you go.
This right here is a lot, y'all put this pressure on me.
Do you want me to do it?
Nah, put this pressure on me for real.
It's not my truth to open, that's why I don't open it. I give it to y'all.
It's okay.
We done had a lot of ups and downs. We done had a lot of battles. We done had a lot of battles. Mm-hmm. But I don't kick you while you down to make you seem like you such a— a bad person.
I didn't either.
You know what I'm saying? Like, I give you your credit being a mother, but you beat me when I'm down and I don't get no appreciation for the things that I do do. You run the story to everybody else, but you know the truth. I've been there since day one.
I give you your props.
I've been there since day one.
You gonna love him regardless. He gonna be they daddy no matter what. Just open it. I just hope they are so we can just go on, move on.
What does this say?
Yeah, not the father, biological father of Makayla. That was for Makayla, my twin.
You're not Makayla's biological father.
He gonna love them babies no way. I know my son. I raised a good man.
Here's the DNA truth for the other twin. There you go.
I've been all right with you. It's okay.
I can tell you, Kaylin is not your biological son. That's what you wanted though. That's what you wanted.
I just want you to heal. I've been trying to be there for you regardless of this. My son love them babies. Don't play the games of stripping them back and forth. That's the only father, maybe Alex, that he know. It's still a village, Sierra.
How do I go about it now?
Yeah. I have never not had your back.
Well, I think there's—
I think too.
Stop now.
Hugging on the screen.
Now them kids need a dad.
Honestly, this is the, if there was a time to stop, is this the better? 'Cause if you would've got this information when they were 14 and 20, it would've been a lot harder than at 4 for them to understand. 'Cause they're old enough to understand and process that, hey, I'm not your dad. I know.
Possibly.
But I have to tell you, there is a better silver lining of this information coming now than at 14 or 20.
To know.
I've seen people get this information at 20 and it kills them. I know, because they don't have their identity.
We do what we do. We a family, and I told you that. You got to—
so they have an opportunity to search. She has an opportunity to find the right man, and they have an opportunity to say, you know what, I know who my dad is, and not be holding on to you, and then get to an age where they're like, damn, all I know, man.
I am, but I want to make sure my son good first. I got to hug my baby.
Sierra, how are you feeling?
I got both of them. Just come on, come on over here 'cause we've been through a lot.
I know you love him. You can come down here if you want. You can come on down here if you want. Come on, D-Roc.
I know, give me a, just, no.
Oh my God, oh my God.
Let me process.
I know, I know, it's all right. It's gonna be okay. This has been a lot for all of us. You don't understand. And I know I need to say this because young people don't really realize you hurt a lot of people when you don't really know. And when you play games because you're upset, you can't do that.
You know what I mean?
We have had some conversations.
At the end of the day, just know that I'm not gonna be the one to tell him that. You gotta explain that to him.
But we not gonna, he not gonna switch up on him.
You gotta explain that to him.
It's gonna be all right.
Martell and Alexx, I wanna commend y'all for being mature and respectful and stepping up to the situation. I really do. And I know this is a hard situation. It's okay. It's okay. It's okay.
But it's a hard situation.
I ain't never failed you this way.
But if there's any silver lining for them to have this information now, I've worked with, I've seen many times kids who get this information at 20, 25, 30, and it shatters their world because they've built their identity around a family and around information that's not true. So it's better at a young age when they're 4 years old, when they still have time to be able to get over this, heal from this, and process for you to be able to find who their father is. This is a better option. And so it might hurt in this moment, but in the long run, this is actually healthy for these kids and for you all as a family even. So I wish you all the best of luck. If you need any support of figuring out who the father is, testing anyone else, we will do anything you need for support. And I'm sorry that it had to turn out this way, 'cause I know there's a lot of people hurting right now. I'm sorry, yeah.
