Okay, so Monica is here to get the DNA truth for her daughter. So everyone please welcome Monica to the show so we can hear her side of the story. Monica, you are so pretty. Can I have a hug? Nice to meet you. You are so pretty.
Thank you.
So why do you need the DNA truth for your daughter?
Well, I feel like I am living a lie.
Okay.
Honestly, I feel like I need to give my daughter the truth. I don't want her to end up on this show, even though I love it. I watch it religiously.
Listen, I have said to people a million times, I don't want y'all children on my show 20 years from now, okay? Like, I don't. So like, I like that you're doing the work now.
Absolutely.
Appreciate it.
Yes, and I just want her to be able to not have that whole, I'm adopted, so I know what it's like to have that missing piece.
So who else could potentially be involved in this DNA mystery?
This man that was my friend a few years back, I had interactions with him before my husband and I decided it would be a safe space to have interactions with him now.
Uh-huh. I like when grown people call it interactions. I'm gonna start saying that. We had interactions with him. That's a classy way to say it, right? Did you have interactions? I live, okay. All right, so take me back. What happened around the time of conception?
I have about a 2-week window, okay? So before I had interactions with my husband, and then I had interactions with this man. So now I'm a little bit confused and I just wanna be able to take accountability and bring peace back to my home.
So what is your nature of your relationship? Yes. So what is the nature of your relationship with Jamal?
How do I say? We can have sex with other people, but it's not an open relationship, okay? I just want you to know, it's not that. We don't like that word. We don't like that.
Okay, so you can have interactions with permission?
With transparency and communication.
You can have interactions? Yes. But you don't like the word open?
I don't. The reason being is because we're not out dating other people. We just want to make sure that it's between us.
Okay.
We know that.
So do you have to both be there when you're having interactions?
No.
Okay, so he can have interactions on his own, you can have interactions on your own. Absolutely. Do you have to tell each other before you have interactions?
Yes, and that's where I messed up.
Mm, got it. 'Cause you got caught up in the moment.
I did.
Got it, okay.
I was learning boundaries.
Got it. So you are still in contact with the other man?
No, not at this moment. He ghosted me.
He ghosted you. Okay then. So potentially if he is the father, do you know how to get in contact with him?
No.
No. Okay then. How has all this affected your relationship?
My husband likes to have, he likes to pretend everything's okay.
Mm.
But I feel like it's causing struggle between us.
Okay.
We can't communicate properly. This situation has caused so much, like, I never thought I would be that one.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, well, when you have interactions with other people, girl.
I'm learning my lesson.
You might be that one, okay? Like, okay, okay, okay. But at least, listen, the thing that I appreciate is that you're saying, I'm gonna step up, I'm gonna figure it out, I'm gonna do what it is. And I appreciate you also trusting me to be here to support you all through this because—
Exactly, and thank you so much because we are both a part of the community, both of them.
Okay.
So we watch you religiously and we know what you do and we're so grateful.
Thank you, I appreciate that. Thank you, I appreciate that. So what are you hoping the DNA truth will reveal today?
That it's his, 'cause even though it's not a science, we planned this baby.
Okay, got it.
We planned it and it was a love child.
Got it, okay then. Well, I think it's time to meet Jamal and hear what he has to say about all this. So everyone, please welcome Jamal to the show.
[APPLAUSE] [FOREIGN LANGUAGE] How you doing, Jamal?
I'm doing all right, how you doing? Nice to meet you.
Nice to meet you.
Yes. So are you and Monica married?
Absolutely.
You are? Yes, sir. Okay. And how many times did you propose to her?
I proposed to her 17 times technically, but she said I wasn't thinking big enough. So 3 times I attempted and I took them back after putting deposits down.
Wow. So you got married last November? Yes, sir. Yes. Okay then. Do you love Monica? Oh, I've loved her for 15 years. 15 years.
15 years.
You beaming with pride when you said that, when he was saying that, you were beaming with pride.
Oh yeah, look at her. Oh my gosh, she's gorgeous.
She's gorgeous. My native African goddess. Girl, stop. So how is your relationship with your potential daughter?
Oh, Yazzy's my princess. Yeah. She's everything to me. I struggle with this sometimes because as she said, I'm not in denial, but I'm not finna put the baby in denial.
Y'all are such a cute couple to me. I love it. You're adorable.
I'm not finna put in the forefront of my mind that I have that as a reason to not give her all the love I need to give.
Got it. So you're trying to make sure that you still have a close relationship?
Oh, absolutely.
Got it. Okay. Absolutely. So tell me about that night that Monica disappeared from your perspective.
Now we had gotten into an argument the day before. She had proposed to me and/or asked with this old friend to possibly go hang out with.
Uh-huh.
I had not demanded, but you know, asked that he needs to come by the house, I need to meet him. After that, we got in an argument. She disappeared after I went to sleep at 3:00 AM.
That's not what happened.
So that's not happening from your point of view. What happened?
From my point of view, we already had that entire act. So there's complete transparency already. We met, we talked, and then I decided to go do my own thing.
At 3:00? But he was asleep. But he was asleep. So why didn't you just wake him up and say, "Hey baby, I'm about to go have an interaction with somebody." I was like, I was like, I was like, I'm buying it.
Well, her intention was not to go into it with an interaction.
She just wanted Okay, she did leave me a text message.
But I—
3 o'clock in the morning, that's demon time. We all know what happened there.
I knew, I knew.
I woke up searching the apartments for her.
Yeah.
At the time though, we was not married. We was not living together technically. And I was still doing my own thing, which I felt like I kind of had the right to do. But again, like I said before, I was learning boundaries.
You were learning boundaries. Okay, I respect that. So when did you begin to feel uncomfortable with the DNA situation?
Initially, I had asked her when we had conceived Yazmin, 'cause she was not an accident. We had planned for her, if there was any reason for any doubt.
So were you aware that you were in an open relationship?
Absolutely.
Okay, then you were.
She posed the question to me when we had first started getting into a relationship. The way she posed it was very interesting though.
How?
She had asked me whether I would be against or with that if a possibility were to come in the future, if she were to travel and an African prince had asked her out hypothetically to go out.
So you asked her hypothetically if you went to Africa and found a prince?
You know what I'm saying?
I might have worded it like that.
Okay. Verbatim. Verbatim. Verbatim. And so in your mind, you're thinking like, oh, okay, yeah, sure.
Don't get all prince.
But he responded by saying, hey, I might wanna do my little one-two too. But guess what? I'm cool with that too.
Okay, okay.
So then it became a very joint Wonderful blended thing.
Okay. So you told producers you already struggle.
With my son? Yes. My stepson? Absolutely. Uh-huh. So as a new father in a, as a stepfather in a relationship, and with that, she's been a single mother doing a great job for 6, 7 years on her own.
Mm, beautiful.
So I have to learn to take a step back and learn that I cannot control my progression or growth with my stepson, which makes it difficult when the possibility lies in that my daughter may not also be mine.
Mm. You know? Because you're already struggling trying to figure out how to be the best father. Right.
And my fear there is that I'll, pull myself away from her as she starts to grow in the fear that she may not be mine.
Very valid fear. Very valid fear. Oh my gosh, she is adorable. Oh my gosh, she is adorable. Get that girl in an ad tomorrow. Well, listen everyone, we're getting a ping right now from Jamal's best friend who is the baby's godfather.
Yes, sir.
Okay, let me hear what this says.
To be honest, I feel bad for my friend Jamal. Just the fact that he already has to take care of one kid that's not his. Now it's going to be a second one that he thought was his and now it's not his. Like, what the— you know, what a bombshell. That's just— if it was me and I was in Jamal's shoes, I'd be gone whether the baby was mine or not. I'd be gone. Sorry, I'm out.
Did you know your best friend felt like that?
Oh, absolutely.
You did? Did you know his best friend felt like that?
No, he don't say nothing.
He don't say nothing.
He had to say something to her and I didn't want her to tear him to pieces.
Yeah, he doesn't speak to me, but he also, he has his own beliefs and I don't care what nobody think at the end of the day. I know my truth and I know our truth.
No doubt. Yeah. So does he feel this way because he's only hearing your frustration? Are you telling him this?
No, I think he feels this way 'cause he doesn't understand a healthy adult communicative relationship in terms of everything that we go through and understand with full open communication. He's just initially thinking, oh, he's betrayed, you know what I'm saying?
The baby may not be his. And that's his right to feel some type of way about wanting to protect his family. Family, so I understand that.
So if you are the father, would the relationship remain open?
I leave that entirely up to her because I have no intentions of controlling her physical and otherwise life or wants. She is a free woman to do what she pleases. She's been through a lot of struggles in this life with people trying to control her and I do not want to control her.
So I respect that, but I also disagree. You have a choice in saying this as well.
Oh, I'm completely with it.
So you are with it? Oh yeah. Okay, so yeah, so you wanted to continue? No doubt.
Okay then.
Or you wanted to continue.
Or if that's not what she want.
I feel it should take some time. Just make sure that we heal the trauma, making sure that we respect each other's boundaries, and then do those things.
I would give you that advice. I would tell you if you were gonna continue this, that's exactly what I would tell you.
Okay, good.
Yeah, that's, no, that's the exact advice. I would say if you want to continue this, you have to heal this because there's gonna be distrust. There's gonna be, whether these results show that she is your daughter or not, there is going to be that distrust. So you have to heal that and then you set new boundaries of how we move forward. Well, listen, I think it's time for the DNA truth. Monica, come with me. Okay. So Monica, in this envelope is the DNA truth about your beautiful, beautiful baby. You had an interaction that, as you said, you were still learning, you were trying to figure out boundaries, and it almost affected your relationship to some degree with the man who is your husband. But it sounds like you two need these answers so you can really figure out how to move forward and start to heal. This is your truth to open, not mine. So good luck.
Okay, I just want you to know.
I love you too.
I calculated.
I know.
Okay, and I ain't no scientist, but I'm like 99.9999999999% sure.
So was the paper.
Uh-huh. Okay, but I'mma love you regardless, and my baby. Monica Jamal is Yasmine's mom.
Okay, good.
I knew it.
You know it. Can I keep this?
Yes, of course you can keep that. Monica, is there a sense of relief?
Yes. Oh my God.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It is.
Yeah. What is going through your mind right now? Here you go, love.
Because it took a long time for us to get together. So I feel like for me to be in this situation and to ever hurt him, were to ever hurt my daughter in that way, unintentionally, it's hurtful and I don't wanna be that person.
[Speaker] Yeah. There is so much desire to always be emotionally intelligent, have an IQ, making sure that you're doing what's gonna be right for yourselves, but also making sure you're being thoughtful about the other person, about your daughter. And so y'all are on the right path. Y'all are very much on the right path. And especially if y'all are only 30. [Speaker] No, I'm 36. [Speaker] Y'all are light years ahead of many people that I've come across So what I would tell you, just continue to be honest, continue to communicate, and continue to learn. Like you just said, this will continue. You will continue to grow and be healthy together. Take time to heal this. Take your break and get stronger as a unit before y'all have any more interactions out there. And I think this is gonna be a very strong family unit.
I know that.
Yeah, yeah. I believe in y'all and I'm very happy for y'all. Thank you for sharing your story with me. I'm so glad to meet both of y'all. Y'all's a cute little couple. Okay, now listen, make sure to come back next time, friends, so we keep talking. And growing. I love you all.
