Leo Bottary introduces a series based on Joe Henderson's 1976 book The Long Run Solution, which argues that high achievers succeed through simple daily actions most people skip. Make your goals public and find people to support you, and ordinary effort becomes extraordinary results.

Hi, this is Leo Bottari with the What Anyone Can Do Minute. Today I want to talk about what anyone can do means. Back in 1976, Joe Henderson, who is a former editor of Runner's World, wrote a book called The Long Run Solution. In it, he was talking about successful runners, but also people in general, basically saying you look at someone who is really great at what they do, it isn't because in many cases that they were capable of superhuman feats. Right? Largely, it was they did the things that anyone can do that most of us never will. All of those daily things, they worked on their craft in a relentless way that was very, very powerful and helped them achieve what they wanted in their life. Think about us, for example, right? Where oftentimes we may declare a New Year's resolution, left to our own devices, we're pretty good at it for a couple of weeks and then it goes away. So the message here is this: Make your goals public, enlist people in your life that can help you achieve those goals, and they'll help you do the things that anyone can do far more often.
