Lindsay McMurray, founder of human-capital consulting firm Kiehl's in Motion, warns that Baby Boomer retirements combined with flatter corporate structures will create a severe shortage of mid-to-senior leaders in the next 7-10 years. Hi, my name is Lindsay McMurray and I'm the founder of Kiehl's in Motion. We're a human capital consulting firm that focuses on the effectiveness and efficiencies of your mid to senior level management. I'd like to talk a bit about what we see as coming in the near future. The next 7 to 10 years are going to be critical for organizations. Right now we're seeing some significant changes that, in management, that hasn't been there before. We have flatter organizations, we've got leaner organizations, we have technology that's driving complex change. I believe that within the next 5 to 7 years, we're going to see some changes. We know that the baby boomers are going to start leaving. Within 7 to 10 years after that, I do expect that we're going to see some of the Generation X starting to retire. And that's going to leave a significant void. And organizations are starting to pick up this next generation, although the challenges with that is they aren't overly prepared because there haven't been, because of the flatter organizations, there haven't been the positions. What we can do as an organization is help you shortcut that learning curve, get your staff prepared to move into those management roles, and create that succession pipeline that you're looking for. Love to have a chance to talk to you about some of these services. Please don't hesitate to contact me.
