Full Trade Break Down Making 0$ Trading (advanced IFVG video)

A trader breaks down post-FOMC ES and NASDAQ moves, showing how fair-value gaps on the 5-minute, 1-minute, 2-minute, and 3-minute charts set up entries. He ended the day flat despite the market's range doubling, emphasizing stop-loss discipline and why most gaps aren't worth trading.

This is going to be another trade recap on today, and we are getting much better price action now that it is post-FOMC. Remember, do not rush and do not try and force trades. Wait for the trades to come to you. The reason why Monday to Wednesday were simply slower days of price action is because it was FOMC on Wednesday. Now today is Thursday, and look what we're having. We have a much better price action. This right here is a 240-point range. To put it in perspective, yesterday we were trading in around a 60 to 80 point range. Okay, so we have over doubled the range that we are trading in, and overall the price action was just cleaner. So let's jump straight into today's price action on what you could have actually done, and could you have caught any trades? And I am actually going to be diving deeply into this, so if you are a bit more of a newer trader and you might get lost during this video, so please do ask any questions in the comments below and make sure that you join my completely free Discord. And in my opinion, you have to be bullish. You have to be bullish on a day like this simply because look at the daily time frame. Whenever we're trading at all-time highs or close to all-time highs, you need to be bullish unless there is a very good reason to be bearish. And to put it simply, there is just not an amazing reason to be bearish right now, okay? We are up on daily where— oh my God, I hate replay mode. We're up on the daily, we're also up on the 4-hour time frame. The only thing that was— well, something that was extremely interesting on the daily time frame, we had this daily bullish unmitigated fair value gap. And what we actually did today, which I'll dive a lot more deeper into, is price action came down and perfectly tapped into this daily fair value gap. Look at how we swept this daily unmitigated— well, was a daily unmitigated fair value gap, and we tapped into it. Not only that, if we look at the 5-minute chart and we go to the left, we are also respecting the LFVG, the last fair value gap of the leg. As you can see, this is the lowest, the lowest fair value gap from the swing low. And yeah, this is what we call the LFVG. And when price gets a reaction out of these LFVG zones, we get such nice trades out of it, okay? It's not random. We have tested this over and over again. So Why this is important is because we have context, being that we just tapped into this daily unmitigated fair value gap, respecting the higher time frame bullish fair value gaps. The daily bias is bullish. We are also respecting the 5-minute LFVG. So if we were to get a long position in this instance, it would be very nice. But of course, we had this big drop down open. There's nothing that you can do here. You can't catch any trades. It's such an aggressive move. So if you want to enter into long positions here, what you need to happen is to get a move up and move down, creating an internal liquidity point, creating a bearish fair value gap here, and then embossing that bearish fair value gap, targeting these highs as your breakeven points. Okay, that is your best case scenario. So that is the type of play that we are looking for. And as you can see, we just shoot straight up here. There is no trade to take. You might be wondering, okay, why did we not enter from this 1-minute fair value gap? The reason why you can't enter any trades from these bearish value gaps to the left is because they are always on a higher time frame value gap. So we have these 5 minutes, 4 minutes, 3 minutes, 2 minutes, 1 minute. Okay, you cannot enter trades here because we're still respecting bearish value gaps to the left. So as we can see, we came up, no trades take that, multiple time frames. Then what do we do? We get a bit of consolidation. Now again, this consolidation here is nothing at all to worry about. Like I just said, we have literally just moved up 230 points. Sadly, price action isn't perfect, and we're not just going to look something like this. Price has to have this this tiny bit of consolidation because this is con— this is where we just build up some liquidity. You know, stupid people are entering into random trades right here. We have to have a bit of consolidation. It is nothing to worry about. Then what we have right here is this 1-minute bearish fair value gap. Not only is this a 1-minute bearish fair value gap, it's also a 2-minute. I believe this is not the trade that we take though. Yes, it's not. We We end up getting a move down and getting this tiny 1-minute bearish fair value gap. Why is this a bad trade to take? Tiny fair value gap, an awful candle close. Never take a trade that looks like that, please. You want a more convincing candle close and ideally a bigger fair value gap. We play the price action out. As we can see, boom, now we have this bearish fair value gap. We have a nice breakeven point and equal highs here, and it's actually very important that I get the ES chart up to look at this trade as well. So let me, let me do this. Okay, yeah. So now we have ES and the NASDAQ. So as you can see, we have the same fair value gap on ES as well. Very, very important. We have some trendline liquidity. Overall, we have a lot of context. A question I got asked on today's stream is, does it matter how many times that we have tapped into this fair value gap? And no is the answer. It doesn't matter if we tap into a bearish fair value gap 10 times and then inverse it after. The most important part is the candle that we inverse the fair value gap on. And as you can see, this candle right here is a very, very nice candle close above this bearish fair value gap. It was also a 2-minute fair value gap that did close as well. The only candle that did not close here was a 3-minute, but in my opinion, this is still a good enough trade to take right now. So boom, let's say you entered from this 1-minute and this 2-minute inverse. Nice displacement, also inverse on ES and NASDAQ. Now at this point in the market, I said on my stream, this is not a bad light position to take. I literally said that. I said that in my opinion, this looks like a decent light position to take. Why is this a nice light position and not a nice heavy position, let's say? No, the first reason being this tiny bit of consolidation before we inverse the fair value gap. It's not the greatest. Also, we're coming back into this range. We're not really creating fair value gaps beforehand as well. If you just The best way that I can explain this is if you look at this price action here and then look at this price action here. Yes, this price action doesn't look awful to the right, but if you look at this price action to the left, it is just 100 times better. Whereas let's say price came down here before, then came up, then came down, we got a bearish value, and then bust that. That 100% would have been a heavy position that I would have took. So you guys can see clearly, see the difference between the types of price action that we have there and there. So we get this bullish candle close above this bearish— bullish candle close above this bearish high value gap. This is why it's a bit more of a light position in my opinion. Stop loss to break even, either that or that. So if we play the price action out, as we can see, we come very close to taking that. We don't end up taking the break-even point. Price ends up coming back down, coming back up. At this point, you know, you're still in the trade. Now boom, this is the most important candle. As you can see, we got a nice big candle up here on NASDAQ. We also took internal liquidity out, which is the same internal liquidity that we are targeting for our breakeven point on NASDAQ. So this, in my opinion, is where you go to breakeven if you are entering heavy or if you are still entering light. This is the most obvious point to go to breakeven because even though we did not take out this point on NASDAQ, you have to use your brain. You're not a robot, okay? If we get a big candle like this Why on earth would we come less than 2 points away from this high and not take it? Yes, you can say it's equal highs. It's not very strong equal highs, in my opinion. If we were going to take this high here, we should have done it right there. There's no point over-risking. Cool, you don't have to move your stop loss to break even when we take the ES high like this, but with just the market conditions here, in my opinion, it makes the most sense. Just be be a bit more careful, okay? Especially in this price action. Even if you did not move your stop loss to break even here, the only reason why you shouldn't have, in my personal opinion, is if you are entering into a light position. If you're entering into a light position, then fair enough, you can play this price action out. And I know a lot of people did get their maximum stop loss did get hit here. Fair enough, you know, if you— you always want to make sure you're managing your risk. And if managing your risk means that you got stopped out here that's 100% fine if you entered lightly. If you entered heavily, again, you should already be at breakeven here in my opinion. So yeah, I mean, that's kind of the trade. We did end up coming up there and hitting that breakeven point. And then shorts here wasn't valid on the 3-minute. Shorts wasn't valid here because we just did not inverse the 1-minute bullish fair value gap there. If we inverse the 1, 2, 3 at the same time, then the shorts could have been good. Click the link in my bio, join the daily live streams every single day completely for free.
