A Day in My Life (Superhuman protocol)

In this vlog, Lucas Wilhelm Hedenbäck walks viewers through a typical day following his "Superhuman" protocol, covering his morning routine, "superhuman coffee" (coffee with butter, honey, and heavy cream) and electrolyte hydration, breakfast of eggs and revived sourdough, and a walk with his dog Penny. He then heads to the gym for a workout and sauna, emphasizing the importance of sweating and recovery. Throughout the day he shares meals—lunch outdoors with sourdough, eggs, kiwi, and a dinner of wild‑caught salmon, potatoes, sauerkraut, pickles, and a kefir bowl with berries—highlighting fermented foods and the timing of meals relative to light exposure. Lucas intersperses client anecdotes: Alim’s improved strength after mindful eating, and a detailed case study of a client (Dylan) who suffered gut issues worsened by unnecessary antibiotics and supplements. Lucas argues that the "eating environment"—calm setting, natural light, post‑meal walks, and avoiding rushed meals—is the most leveraged factor for gut health, energy, hormones, and mental clarity, outweighing even the quality of the food itself. He critiques the modern efficiency mindset that sacrifices health, urging viewers to allocate dedicated time for proper eating conditions. The video ends with a brief dessert bowl, a final walk with Penny, and a recap of his structured day (deep work, workout, client calls).

Okay, so the goal for today is pretty simple and pretty straightforward. I'm gonna show you I'm gonna take you through a full day in the life. What I'm eating, what I'm doing, all the. Hey, what's it do? Yeah, just show you long, long, long time overdue. I was about to say it was a long time ago I did did a video like this, and it's been well requested by you guys. So. It's time.
It's currently 9:50.
I went up, as you saw, I went up like 6:30, went down to and jumped in the lake or in the river, went for a little walk with Penny, came back, and been in front of the computer ever since 7-ish. So for the last 3 hours almost. Now it's time to eat. So first meal of the day is going down. Obviously I'm not, I didn't show that, but I'm, I don't really like to eat the first thing that I do, but you also don't wanna sit and be like fasted for super, super long. So what I usually do is what I call the superhuman coffee, right? I do a bit of obviously high-quality coffee and then I have butter, honey, And some heavy cream in it to kind of, you know, you don't want the sort of caffeine cortisol response on an empty stomach. So you do that to sort of smoothen things out. So that's what I did. And obviously I drank my plasma the first thing I did as well, water and salt to hydrate. And now it's time to eat the first meal. Almost 10. Eggs are on the pan as you saw. Sourdough is brought back alive after being— it's like a week old, whatever. But there's actually a hack you can do where you put some— you pour some water on it and then put it in the oven and it comes out like basically as fresh again. So that. And then we're actually— We're gonna go. Penny's getting really big. Time flies. I've had her for four. What is it? Three months now.
Penny, Penny, Penny.
I'm actually gonna go to the gym today, so I'm not gonna work out at home outside because I really feel like sweating some shit. Shit out. So I'm gonna do sauna, and unfortunately I don't have one at home yet. Looking at getting one, but therefore I'm gonna go to the gym. So I'm gonna show you that as well, show you what I eat, show all the things. But basically I've been just sitting and punching through some deep work for the last 3 hours. Not super interesting, super fun. Um, go for a little walk, walk now after eating with Penny, then gym, then more work, and then calls and check-ins with clients later. And then we'll just see what happens. But that's, that's the game plan. So let's do it. Let's eat. We'll see what happens. Okay, good.
Of course, practicing.
What we, or what I preach as well, always when the weather allows, eating outside. Sourdough, eggs, kiwi.
Egg and honey. What's up?
Took Penny for a walk. Now it's a gym.
Time.
I haven't been there in a long time, so I'm actually looking forward to it. Just a bit of a change of the— change of the scenery. Yeah, let's get there and let's get it here and let's hit a session. Because we have beef, rice, kraut, fermented pickle, zucchini, herbs. And of course, Eden outside.
But like past couple nights I've slept amazingly even with coffee. Strength too, like at the gym I'm just feeling so strong, but I haven't felt strong like this in a very, very long time too, which is quite good.
Alim, would you say that that sort of has always been the case?
Out of an S?
No, 100%.
Like very specific and Yeah, definitely feeling a bit better. Um, I'm gonna be honest, like last week, the whole tracking thing, this is like, I've been pretty like, this is the most locked in I've been in like the last 6 months. And like, I'm definitely feeling like the results of eating in a calm state and like not rushing my meals. Like I never knew until now how big of a difference that makes.
Yeah, it's night and day, especially when we know, and I think that we see that very clearly in your, in your tracking as well. Like, we're purely looking at the systematic, systematic issue here. It's like, it's motility.
It's—
so I need to reduce a bit? Not reduce, but that's what I would do is I wouldn't do it sort of like if this, but on the 4th day you mess something up, right?
Yeah.
So you, and so you need to, you need to respect this sort of recovery time. So you want to train it and then you want to wait 1 or 2 days And then you want to have it again. Okay, okay, that's okay.
Let's, let's do it.
Okay, so work is done for the day. Things ended up taking a bit longer than expected because I just randomly ended up recording a little client interview/testimonial with Mr. Davidas. I'll probably have that out before this video, so I can link that in the description. But it's a really good one. David has had massive problems with his gut before. He had been going to functional medicine doctors, practitioners, all the jazz, without anything improving and working. And now, just a couple months, 4 months in actually, barely any joint pain, left, no bloating, sleep 10 out of 10, whatever, you get the drill. Watch the— I'll link the video down underneath. But anyways, now it's time for dinner, last meal. It's a bit late, it's 8. Ideally I would have wanted to eat that a bit earlier, you know, an hour ago-ish, but you gotta do what you gotta do. So we're gonna have some— we're gonna have potatoes and salmon. Wild-caught, high-quality, super, super good. Yeah, I gotta make it quick, so I'm not gonna set up the camera and do any fancy edits, whatever. I just need to make this food pretty quickly. I'll show you when it's done.
What?
Anyways, one thing that I wanted to talk about. I just put the salmon in the air fryer. Air fryer, by the way, is a suck. I picked one up. I have one for like $100, stainless steel, from Amazon. Game changer. Put food away, it makes itself, right? Takes no time to cook. For efficiency purposes. Usually efficiency when it comes to food comes with a Big cost, right? Which is usually your health because just ordering food and all these things is not obviously not the best thing. You want to be involved in the cooking and whatnot in order to start to smell the food and whatnot to prepare your gut for what's to come. Super underrated thing, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. And there's it's obviously better to use and utilize an air fryer than to order food. It takes me two minutes to prepare this meal. 2 minutes, then into the air fryer, then 20 minutes later it's done. So there's obviously levels in health as well. But anyways, I had a first check-in call with Dylan who joined like a week ago, as you saw. But one of the things that I just wanted to talk about there, which I think is so insane, he's been struggling with gut issues, right? And a few weeks ago, a month ago, he went to a doctor And they ran some tests and didn't even find anything, but they still prescribed him antibiotics. Obviously he took it because the doctor told him to. He'd been trying to— he'd been doing low FODMAP and tried sort of researching his way to fixing it himself. And then nothing worked, so he ended up going to traditional medicine and ended up taking antibiotics. Antibiotics, and everything got even worse after that. Surprise, surprise! Because obviously you're nuking your whole microbiome and nuking your whole system. So it's like asking for things to make it worse, especially when you don't have an even confirmed sort of overgrowth or whatever. It's just like, who is this doctor that let this happen? It's mind-blowing for me. But Anyways, now just a week in, we're already starting to feel a bit better, which is just insane. But the crazy thing here is that this is the approach that so many take. It's always the pills or the supplements or the this and that. We haven't touched a single supplement. I actually— the first thing that I told him to do, Dylan, A week ago is stop the supplements you're taking, stop all. Because first of all, they're just causing more damage than good, and they're also masking the actual symptoms. So if we keep, if we keep like having them in the picture, we're never gonna fully understand what the true— what the truth is, because we're just masking, masking the symptoms. But it's crazy, it's antibiotics. I have so many other clients where they go They have infections, this and that. Oh, the doctor tells I need says I need to take antibiotics to kill kill everything off. What's gonna happen? It's gonna make everything even worse. You're gonna nuke your whole system. So all these defense mechanisms that you're supposed to have to kill off these things in the first place, that you that obviously is very downregulated because otherwise this thing wouldn't be in your be. There in the first place. Now that's gonna get even worse, and then the spiral just continues and it gets worse and worse. You might feel better for a few few weeks, but then it comes right back. And that's what happens when you just symptom manage rather than actually fix the root. So yeah, it's actually insane how that works. But anyways, I hear it every time. I still get I still get as shocked every time because it's just like. How is this allowed? Yeah, crazy how the world works. Now I'm gonna eat. And one thing that you've seen, obviously now, I mean, yeah, obviously I can eat outside, but there's no sunlight. Ideally, you don't want to eat as the sun sets because light has a big impact on your gut as well, right? Light diet and your sort of nutritional diet goes very hand in hand. You know, we don't— when it starts to get darker, it signals to our body to produce melatonin. Melatonin blocks your body's ability to digest food as well. But it's also super, super important to heal your gut lining and your gut. So anyways, what I'm trying to say is eating environment in general. If there's one takeaway that I want you from this video, and that's what you're gonna hear from Dylan as well, maybe if the camera picked that up, but that is the core thing that I always stay doing. dialed with. It doesn't matter what's happening or whatever, I always prioritize my eating environment. So that is making sure that I— and why I do this as well is because eating, like, it's literally the most leveraged thing you can do in the whole day. It's making sure that the food that you're eating is going to the right places. And not just that, but also not causing any problems. Because once again, a common thing with all my clients is that they are already eating the best of the best food when they come. Yet they still have problems. They're eating grass-fed steak, they're eating pasture-raised egg, they're eating the best of the best food that money, money can buy, but they still have problems. How does that make sense? Well, that tells us clearly that it's not just about the food, and you want to utilize that to your advantage. So making sure that your eating environment is dialed in, and this means that you have to allocate some time towards it because you have to calm down after a meal. You ideally want to go for a little digestion walk, which also takes time.
Mm-hmm.
But this is the biggest investment that you can make. And people nowadays are so stuck in this efficiency mindset of just like, I just have 10 minutes and I have to get back to work. And then you're constantly finding yourself in this loop of just making things worse and worse, and your energy keeps getting worse and worse, and your hormones get worse and worse, and you're getting more and more bloated, and you wonder why, right? So yes, you're gonna have to allocate some time to do this properly every single day, but it's one of the Best investments you can make with the highest return because it's literally infinite, infinitely scalable, infinitely scalable. And it's going to have a massive improvement or a massive effect on your energy, hormones, like recovery, performance, everything, mental clarity, everything. And as a byproduct of that, you're going to be able to work and get more shit done in less time because you're, you're so much more mentally sharp. So this is the mindset and the reframe that you have to go through as well. You can't just look at it from like a first layer in the equation perspective, right? Yes, you have to put some time towards it, but what do you get out of that? That's what we need to ask. ourselves rather than just think about— and I think efficiency, efficiency, efficiency all the time. I'm so fed up with efficiency because efficiency comes with a cost, and that cost is usually your health. So that is what you need to get into your head. So eating environment, the one takeaway: listen to Dylan. One week in, already feeling better. 7 months of struggles, antibiotics, All the jazz, all the bullshit, nothing helped. A week in, helped. The one major thing he focused on: eating environment. Started raining, so we have to scratch the idea of eating outside. That important. Is it not for me? Tasty. Salmon, potatoes, sauerkraut, pickles, some just Greek yogurt as sauce-ish on the side, and then herbs as always, right? Another trend you probably see is obviously I have something fermented in every single meal. Also to make sure that I feed a constant flow of good healthy bacteria. It's also gonna help me digest the rest of the food better. Obviously be cautious doing this because if your gut is a bit more sensitive, this will literally be like shooting yourself in the foot. So only do this when your gut is functioning properly and you can actually handle it.
Mm, super good.
These are really funny. Let's see if you can focus. It's purple potatoes. You see? I don't know if you see it. They're purple.
Crazy.
Tastes like regular white. I'm gonna save you from seeing or watching me eat all this. It's probably not that fun. Because that ended up not being enough food since I really wanted to get in another meal. So as a little dessert bowl, almost, now some kefir. We have, or a kefir bowl, kefir, buckwheat, goji berries, Apple from the garden. I have no clue what they're called in English. Krusberg. Some some other berries from the garden. Some blueberries in here. And then, what the fuck is nichter in?
Peach.
Peach but not a peach.
Almost a peach.
I don't know the English word. Yeah. So this is like the dessert bowl slash. Slash the 4th meal. Not ideal to have everything now, a big chunk now, but, uh, it is what it is. Eat up, then out for the last walk with Miss Penny. And then, and then that's it for today. Food, training, work. I like to structure my days as you saw, like admin, deep work, focus in the morning, workout or do some activity to split it up. And then afternoon I have calls and talk with clients, all, all the jazz. That's usually how, how I like my days. So morning is for focus, deep work. Undistracted, headphones on, some Reset intro today, of course. Workout, you saw it. It's nothing fancy. And this is it. And then tomorrow we wake up and we do the same thing. I wouldn't want to have it any other way. Thanks for watching. I'll see you in the next one.
