Fixing Your Gut Will Change Your Life. Here's How

Lucas Wilhelm Hedenbäck fixed chronic bloating, low energy, and digestive issues by calming his nervous system first, then gradually adding fermented foods like sauerkraut to rebuild his gut. He credits gut health with restoring his hormones, energy, and ability to build a 7-figure business.

Because I'm a firm believer that fixing your gut health will change the whole trajectory of your life, because that's exactly what it did for me. A few years ago, I was working a corporate job. I was working out 5 to 6 days a week without really getting any results, and I was struggling with my energy levels. I was struggling with my libido. I got bloated after eating. I had— I was toggling between constipation and loose stool, and I didn't really feel like I had something to live for on top of that as well. And back then I didn't even know gut health was a thing, right? Of course you've heard someone say that it's important to eat your fiber and that it's, you know, your mom has told you that it's important to get your veggies in and whatnot. And some roided up bodybuilder had sold me some greens powder that I was taking on an empty stomach every single morning. And I tried some probiotics and things like this because I started to get aware about my problems and started to understand that, you know, maybe I'm not supposed I'm not supposed to feel like this. I'm not supposed to struggle with my energy levels and have this little performance from like an energy, mental capacity, and also libido perspective as a young male, right? This is not how it's supposed to be. And, um, but yeah, there was no real depth to it. And now fast forward, I'm able to look like this year round. I run a 7-figure business, but more importantly, I actually enjoy my day-to-day life and I have more energy than I could ever wish for. No digestive issues, no bloating whatsoever. Everything is, is perfectly fine. My stool is top, top quality. And all of this happens because I understood the importance of gut health and actually started to act accordingly. So in this video, I'm going to break down exactly what I did and why, so you can just copy and do the same and hopefully get the same outcome. So let's do it. But before we jump in, we have to understand why gut health is so important. And to simplify this, we— I love the quote from— don't quote me on exactly that this is what he says, but all diseases begins in the gut or something. Hippocrates said that, something along those lines. And this is absolutely true because your gut, and more specifically your gut microbiome, is sort of the first defense mechanism in your entire body. That's where all the food that you're eating is processed, Or it's going through your mouth obviously and into your microbiome. And that's sort of the first thing that starts to break these things down. And if your microbiome is not healthy, that's when things will become problematic. And this was the case for me because back then I thought that, you know, just food, good food will equal good gut health, right? Good inputs, good outputs, right? Because I was eating pretty clean, but I still had some things in there that was sort of destroying my microbiome without me knowing it. pre-workouts, artificial sweeteners and whatnot. But generally speaking, I was eating very, very clean, very local, good food and whatnot. But grass-fed meat, rice, potatoes, all the good stuff, right? I was still eating very, very good. And how can that, or the thing that I started asking myself then is like, how can my gut, or how can I not get better? No, how can good food still destroy my gut is kind of the first question that I started to question. Because once again, from my perspective, You know, I was doing everything right on paper, so how can I still not get the outcome? This was the first sort of question I understand. And all of that started one day for me when I was eating my classic yogurt bowl. This was in the in the beginning of 2024, and all of a sudden, like just a regular day, I was eating my my yogurt bowl, and I got the most insane stomach pain that I had ever experienced. Like insane! I had to lay down in we call it fosterställning in Swedish, like. With a pillow beside my— or between my legs and my stomach. And I had so much pain that I couldn't do anything for the rest of the day. It was like midday. And obviously I started looking into it. I was like, oh, what is this? Have I gotten lactose intolerant one day to another? Was sort of the first thing that came to my mind. So I started looking into that, you know. But no, I didn't have that. Obviously went and checked it up. And that's when I really started to start dig into gut health because how could this be the case when I just literally one day to another, yesterday it was working fine, had the same meal, no issues, and tried every single surface-level solution you could ever think of, right? Cut out the lactose, cut out all the dairy for good, went super, super restrictive and I did all these right things. I tried all the gut healing protocols that you can think of, all the probiotics, like literally every single supplement on the shelf I've tried it, right? Glutamine, glycine, gelatin, bone broth, salt, I did everything but nothing actually fixed it initially. And then I started to think to myself, if I'm doing everything right, Here, there must be another layer underneath that I'm missing. And this is when everything clicked because I realized that the state of my nervous system is what's gonna dictate the health of my gut. And let me explain this a bit further, right? Your gut is the most important thing in your body, 100%. But there's one dictator that dictates how your gut is functioning, if it's in a position to be healed Or to heal, or to kind of make things worse. Because the next thing we have to understand here is when it comes to gut health and when it comes to everything in life, there's never a neutral state. You're either progressing or you're regressing. Always. You're either making your gut health— you're either improving your gut health every single day or you're making it worse, right? There's no, oh, today was an average day, and that's not the case because of sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system states, right? You're either in one or the other. There's no in-between, right? And depending on which of these you are in, that is what's gonna dictate if you're regressing and progressing. Because when we're in fight or flight and we're doing all the right inputs, we're eating correctly, we're doing all the right things, our stomach acid production will still be lower, our bile flow will still be lower, and our body's ability to flow blood to our digestive tract when we're eating stuff will be— Lower. Lower, which means that now you're in a suboptimal environment when it comes to all the food that you're eating, which means that all these best of the best food that you're eating will still cause gut dysbiosis, gut permeability, or leaky gut, right? SIBO, SIFO, parasites, all these things can still happen because these internal processes that are supposed to work, stomach acid, bile, just to name a few, are downregulated. And this is where it all starts. And this is where it also starts, everything also starts when it comes to infections and viruses and things like this. Because if all these processes are upregulated where they're supposed to be, like, your immune system starts in your gut as well, right? Because the stomach acid, the bile, all these things, they will completely eliminate. Your microbiome has good healthy bacteria that will outcompete the bad bacteria. So if your gut health is super, super healthy, you will not get sick. I haven't been, I can't even remember now the last time I was sick. It was probably sometime around when I got this issue, which is more than 2 and a half years ago at this point, right? That was the last time I was sick because ever since I've been absolutely obsessed with my gut health. And as a byproduct, I haven't gotten sick because my gut, like, of course I'm exposed to bacteria all the time, right? I'm exposed to viruses, I'm exposed to all these things. I'm going to the gym, I'm probably, more unsanitized or whatever you say than you watching this as well. Because I believe that a bit of the bad is actually good for your bacteria, for your microbiome as well. If we constantly just keep everything super sanitized, we'd never have any sort of invaders. Well, then you're signaling to your microbiome that you can just chill, take it easy, you know, we don't have to work, right? We always want to be exposed to a bit of bad. And this is my whole philosophy when it comes to food as well. Everyone is like, oh, vegetables, this, that, you can't eat veggies, you can't eat this because it's anti-nutrients and it's bad and defense chemicals and whatnot. Sure, but there's also bacterial profiles that you get in, that you like give, it's like imprints to your microbiome and different sort of bacterial profiles that they have to constantly handle and stay like sharp So we never want to eat those things from a nutrients perspective, we want to eat those things from a bacterial perspective. And these are all things that I was just starting to experiment with, obviously digging through all sorts of rabbit holes and trying it on myself and realizing that this is actually the root. So calming down my nervous system was the first thing that I needed to do, and that's through things like literally connecting more with nature, being out as much as I could in the sun, Grounding, doing breathwork because I was stuck in this constant sympathetic dominance because I was working the corporate job at the bank, you know, constant stimulation, work, bank job, whatever, it was hectic. So I needed to calm myself down, right? Outside a lot, sun a lot, doing all these things and just lowering the amount of stressors that I was putting onto my body. You know, cut the workouts instead of doing 5 to 6 days a week, I started to do 2 to 3. Right, then I look better than I've ever done before. Started to prioritize in getting minerals in, starting to, what else did we do? Yeah, calm down nervous system and calm down the gut was the initial thing we did, right? So that's cutting everything out that was damaging in the first place, both from a food perspective but also from like a lifestyle and habits perspective and work perspective and stress perspective, right? Second thing, I started to progressive overload and here's where I made a lot of mistakes because I was like, okay, now everything is more stable, like my bowel movements are more stable, energy is a bit stable. And then I started to add in like a lot of sauerkraut or whatever it might have been, and it's just back to square one. Like completely nuked me. Loose stool, just an urgency like a few minutes after eating. And that is because your microbiome works exactly like a muscle. What would happen if we go to the gym today and we did— if I'm— my average right now is 40 kg dumbbells for Chest press, just as an example. But I went in there today and I did— I picked up this 80 kgs, right? And I was like— and I was trying to get them up. I'd probably injure myself pretty badly trying to do that. This is exactly what happens if you're— with your gut. If you're not— if your microbiome is not adapted to a set thing and you provide or you overstimulate it, you're gonna injure yourself and damage yourself, right? So what we have to do there is we have to start on the lower end. So I started Like literally just tiny, tiny bits, like tiny, tiny bit of sauerkraut, see how it works, right? And then the next day a bit more and then a bit more. And then I applied this strategy on every single like food that I started to experiment with. This is how you progressive overload your bacteria in your microbiome and upregulate everything. And when you do this, this is when the magic starts to kick in because now your microbiome will start to send the right signals to support your recovery. It will start to send the right signals to support your hormones because your microbiome is where Everything gets broken down, the nutrients, the minerals, all the things which are turned into building blocks is how I like to view it. And then through your blood is where it's getting transported out to wherever it's needed to, you know, to recover your muscles or up to your glands that's in charge of producing your hormones, right? And if those building blocks are not there, it doesn't matter how much signals you're sending to the glands from your brain if there's no resources to produce the said hormones, right? So now Everything started to get better. Hormones started to upregulate, upregulate, upregulate, right? Recovery got better, better, better. Energy better, better, better. Everything just better. Obviously, I sort of fixed my— in the process of this, I fixed my gut permeability as well, or my leaky gut, because now the bacteria profile started to send signals to produce butyrate, which is the one thing that will help, or one of the things that will help repair your gut lining. And all of a sudden, a few months into actually doing this, all my issues were literally gone. And I'd gotten into the absolute best shape of my life as well in just a few months. And I'll throw some, like, I'll see if I have the timestamps so you see exactly when this picture is taken as well. But like the difference in the time, it's like half a year between these pictures. Training less, no change on the scale. I actually, I think I'm weighing in heavier on the, like, the after picture here. And more importantly, once again, feeling absolutely a million bucks. And ever since, everything has just been keeping, keep getting better and better and better. And I've now started my business because I have so much energy. I help people do the same and whatever, whatever. Like, everything has steamed from me actually coming Or going back and fixing my gut health properly for good. And no, I didn't do this through supplements or some other bullshit and all these things, because all those things I tried were tried at the beginning, but it didn't actually fix it. So I had to do some digging, understand that there's a little thing called your nervous system that is the first step that you have to sort of get in check. And then focus on doing the right things. And then everything started to just click. Because now imagine how much of a positive spiral I'm setting in motion. Because once again, as I said, everything in your health works as a spider web, and in the center you have your gut health, and that impacts your recovery and impacts your performance, and your performance impacts your, your whatever, and that impacts your sleep, and then that impacts your Your hormones, and when you have better hormones, you're getting even better recovery and even better performance as well. And then it just spirals and continues in the right direction. And this is the reality of fixing your gut. Like, there's no, no other thing in this life that is of higher leverage than fixing this, because it will literally elevate every single area of your entire life if you actually fix your gut and keep it fixed. Keep it fixed because that's also a mistake a lot of people do. They fix it and then they sort of stop all these things that actually fixed it. And we know that you know prevention is the best cure. So if you fall off all these things that you actually did to help fix your gut, well then you're going to get back to sort of square one and mess it up at one point. So keeping it fixed is what's actually the real secret, especially when you have a busy life. And you know for for me right now, I obviously. there's a lot of responsibility when you're running a 7-figure business, right? It's staying dialed with all the things and making it like a lifestyle that is actually sustainable, that is the actual sort of real secret, I guess. And maybe I'll do some sort of day in the life and kind of show you how I manage everything on a day-to-day life. Let me know if that's something you would be interested in. Yeah, that would be awesome. in to kind of see the behind the scenes of what's going on and how I manage things. But that is it. Nervous system, fix your gut health, start to progressive overload. This is literally what changed my entire life. And I know for a fact that if you fix yours, it doesn't matter where you're at in your life, you know, if you're already running a business and whatnot, it will make your life 10 times better. You will be 10 times more productive. You will have 10 times more energy. You will Actually be able to digest the food that you're eating, which will lead to you feeling a million bucks. You will actually start to get some results from the work you're putting in in the gym because now you have all these building blocks available to actually put towards muscle building and recovery and all these things. Like, it's infinite scalable fixing your gut health, and that is why I'm preaching it so much and why I'm saying it in literally every single video. It's the thing that has helped me, it's the thing that has helped All these clients get these insane results in short amount of time. You don't get this from just training harder and dieting even harder. It's you don't, right? Get this from actually fixing the system underneath, and that starts with your gut. Thanks for watching. See you in the next one. And if you're interested in a bit more detailed video on how to actually fix it in a 3-step process. I actually made a video the other day, I'll pop it up on the screen here, that breaks down the 3 steps a bit more in detail. So check this out.
