Full Guide to Fixing Your Gut Health in 11 Minutes

In this 11‑minute YouTube presentation, Lucas Wilhelm Hedenbäck shares a personal transformation story and outlines a three‑pillar protocol for rapidly improving gut health without extensive cooking or obsessive dieting. He argues that gut health underpins energy, hormone balance, immunity, and cognition, and that most conventional approaches fail because they focus on adding supplements rather than stopping the daily attacks on the gut. The three pillars are: 1. Elimination – remove stress‑state eating, ultra‑processed foods (especially those containing seed oils and artificial additives), and chronic stress, which all impair stomach acid, enzyme production, and gut‑lining integrity. 2. Restoration – rebuild the gut lining with collagen‑rich foods (bone broth, slow‑cooked meats), re‑introduce food‑based fermented foods for beneficial bacteria, and support stomach acid with apple cider vinegar or similar. 3. Regulation – embed non‑negotiable daily habits (morning sunlight, timed meals, walks, breathwork, limited training sessions) to keep the nervous system in a parasympathetic state, maintain circadian rhythm, and prevent relapse. He reinforces each pillar with concrete examples, client anecdotes, and a call to action to join his “Superhuman Protocol” for personalized implementation. The video ends by positioning gut health as a foundational piece of a broader performance system for entrepreneurs.

This was me before I fixed my gut. I was bloated after every meal, had consistent brain fog, and my energy would crash after 2 PM. And this is a photo of me a year later once I fixed the root problem. Sharp, energized, and lean from when I woke up to when I went to sleep. Your gut health is the foundation of your health, and in the next 10 to 15 minutes, I'm going to show you exactly how to fix your gut health fast without spending hours cooking or obsessing over what you eat. Because if you understand how gut health really works, it will allow you to To feel like a completely different person. Because your gut is the foundation for everything. Energy production, hormone regulation, immune function, all of it runs through your gut. My gut was so damaged it couldn't process any of what I was giving it. I used to work out super hard, eat what I thought was the perfect diet, and track everything just to feel average. But the second I stopped adding things and started asking what was constantly attacking the system, I finally fixed it. When your gut is inflamed, your lining is damaged, and your microbiome is wrecked, your body cannot absorb the nutrients you're giving it. You can be eating the most expensive, highest quality food on the planet, and it means nothing because it literally passes through a broken system. That's why you can eat perfectly and still sit down at your desk after meal, look at your screen, and feel like you don't have a single brain cell left. But when you fix your gut, it's the highest leverage thing you can do for your health and work. But here's where almost everyone gets this completely wrong. And it's the reason why what you've tried before didn't work. You see, most people try to fix their gut by adding things: more probiotics, more supplements, more fermented foods, more fiber. And look, some of those things matter. If you're adding all of that on top of a system that you keep attacking every single day, you're trying to fill a bucket that has holes at the bottom. So what does it actually look like to fix it the right way? Well, it comes down to 3 pillars that I will tell you exactly what to do and in what order. So pillar number one is elimination. The most important thing to eliminate is something you're doing every single day without even realizing it. And it might be the single biggest reason your gut is a mess. And that is eating in a stressed state. If you're eating between meetings, rushing through lunch, or right after a training session while you're still activated, your body is not digesting your food properly. Your body can only properly digest food in a parasympathetic state. Or when you're relaxed. When you're in an active or stressed state, we call that sympathetic. When you're stressed and your body's in fight or flight mode, stomach acid drops, digestive enzyme drops, and blood flow to the gut drops as well, which means that your body is prioritizing survival over digestion. And a stressed person eating a perfect grass-fed steak will absorb less from that meal than a relaxed person eating something average. I see this constantly. Entrepreneurs especially. Always in go, go, go mode, 5 minutes between calls, shoving down food and wondering why their clean diet isn't moving the needle. But eating in a stressed state is just one of the inputs that's damaging your gut every day. The second major input is ultra-processed foods. And even if you already eat whole foods or you buy organic, you're likely still eating food that is slowly attacking your nervous system. A client messaged me the other day and showed a picture of a sourdough he had picked up from the grocery store. And I told him, Take a look at the ingredients. He came back a few minutes later with a list. Sunflower oil as the second ingredient. Things like 0% Greek yogurt, flavored protein powders, and store-bought sourdoughs are ultra-processed foods as well. So is pre-workout and most electrolyte powders with sweeteners as well. Just think about it. When manufacturers strip the fat away, they have to add flavors back somehow. So they load it with artificial sweeteners, preservatives, and stabilizers that directly strip the gut lining and alter your microbiome. If there's a boardroom of people behind what you're about to put in your mouth, it's a product and you shouldn't be eating it. That's not food. Then seed oils, of course. Sunflower oil, grapeseed, soybean, which promote inflammation, damage your gut lining integrity, and feed pathogenic bacteria. And they are in almost everything ultra-processed, which is why these 2 overlap constantly. The only thing you should be cooking with are butter, tallow, and olive oil for cold use. And then there's chronic stress. Beyond how it affects digestion in the moment, sustained high cortisol literally increases gut permeability while disrupting your microbiome and shutting down your body's ability to repair and generate the gut lining. Most people call this leaky gut. We have to understand this: if stress is a constant in your life and you haven't addressed it, nothing else in this video will work long-term. Once you've started removing the things that are breaking your gut, your system finally has room to breathe, and we can actually start rebuilding, which is where most of the visible results start to show. Restoration is where we rebuild. First, we have to repair the gut lining. The best foods for this is collagen-rich foods, bone broth, slow-cooked meats, connective tissues. These are loaded with glycine, proline, and glutamines, which directly support your gut lining, calms inflammation, and help close the gaps that let toxins and undigested food particles leak into your bloodstream. If you can make bone broth at home, do it. If you can't, get a good quality collagen peptide maybe. But real food comes first if you can access it. Second, we want to reintroduce beneficial bacteria through fermented foods like sauerkraut, kimchi, and kefir while avoiding probiotic capsules. Food-based ferments come with context, with cofactors, with a full matrix your body knows how to use. Capsules don't replicate that. I have a non-negotiable rule for myself: every single meal gets something fermented on the plate, even if it's just a spoonful of sauerkraut. And if you Do it consistently, you will notice a massive shift. Third, we gotta support the stomach acid. Low stomach acid is one of the most overlooked causes of bloating and poor digestion. Before a big meal, apple cider vinegar, a shot, or a small arugula salad with a splash of olive oil on it. This manually kickstarts the acid production and gives your digestion system the signal it needs to actually process the food you're about to eat. Here's the thing that most gut health advice never tells you. You can do perfect elimination and perfect restoration, but if you don't address this last piece, The one that most people skip entirely, everything you built will collapse within weeks. Your gut health follows your nervous system health, and this is not optional or a nice-to-have. Chronic stress is the root cause underneath most gut dysfunction I see. High cortisol increases gut permeability, alters microbiome composition, and shuts down repair mechanisms. You are not building anything while your body thinks it's in danger. The people I work with who've come to us after having been through functional medicine doctors, supplements, and elimination diets, And still aren't getting results, we almost always start at the nervous system. Which, by the way, if you want to work directly with me and have me give you a custom plan to fix your gut health and optimize your performance, then just check out the first link in the description. So what does this actually look like in practice? Well, morning sunlight within 30 minutes of waking anchors your cortisol rhythm and sets up your sleep quality for that night. Daily walks are non-negotiable as well, especially after meals. And that will dramatically improve digestion and blood sugar regulation on its own. Then doing breathwork throughout the day is the fastest tool you have to manually shift your body out of sympathetic drive. A short and simple 4-second inhale, 6-second exhale is all you need to start. That plus going on a walk in nature every now and then makes a huge difference in your overall stress levels. And then if you're currently training every day in the gym, You're doing yourself more harm than good. 3 structured sessions a week is more than enough for most high-performing people running businesses and having a high-demanding job. But 5 to 6 intense sessions is a stress load your gut cannot recover around. More input doesn't mean more output when your system is already overloaded. That's the one thing we have to understand. So you've done the elimination, the restoration, and addressed the nervous system. The last question is, how do you make this stick? Because it happens all the time that people do this for 2 weeks and see incredible results and then slowly slide back because they treated This, like a protocol with an end date, which is why pillar 3 is regulation. And this is just about installing the right non-negotiables into your daily routine so that what you've built doesn't fall apart. Consistent meal timing matters because your body runs on rhythm, and eating at a similar time each day reduces digestive stress and stabilizes energy, hormones, and sleep. Stop snacking constantly and give your gut actual rest between the meals. Circadian alignment matters too. Morning light, earlier dinners when possible, because your gut repairs itself at night, but only if your circadian rhythm is intact. Screens late at night disrupts that repair cycle too. So get a good pair of blue light blocking glasses if you have to be on Slack until 9 PM. Now, the thing that separates people who get permanent results from people who keep cycling through protocols is also mindset. Stop treating your health like a problem to solve and start treating it like a system The goal is a body that functions well as the default. You stop thinking about food, you stop planning your life around your symptoms, you literally just live your life. When people actually execute all 3 pillars within the first few weeks, bloating usually drops significantly, energy becomes more stable throughout the day, brain fog lifts, and sleep becomes more restorative. Your skin clears up, your mood levels out, and within months, your body composition changes without obsessing over calories. Your hormones improve, training performance goes up because your body can finally absorb what you're giving it, and recovery between sessions improves as well. And most importantly, the mental tax disappears. You stop thinking about food constantly. You stop researching protocols at midnight and planning your day around whether your gut is going to cooperate or not. You just show up with a clear head, stable energy, and full capacity. For example, my client Arthur. Was bloated and inflamed, had been through multiple coaches before arriving, and within 2 months, the bloating and inflammation were completely gone. Landon looked at himself in the mirror at the start and thought, I know I can do better. Months later, standing at the same mirror, feeling genuine pride for the first time in years. Lucas Medal had 9 years of gut issues. He tried vegan, carnivore, keto, and gluten-free while seeing multiple practitioners. 3 months in, Zero bloating, stable digestion for the first time in a decade, and the mental clarity restored as well. If you want help implementing all of this training, stress, sleep, and hormones as a full picture, that's exactly what I do inside the Superhuman Protocol.
