How to Fix Your Gut Health for Good in 9 Minutes

In this 9‑minute video, health coach Lucas Wilhelm Hedenbäck shares his personal journey from chronic inflammation, bloating, brain fog, and low energy despite rigorous training and a typical bodybuilding diet, to discovering that gut health was the underlying problem. He explains how a compromised gut leads to dysbiosis, leaky gut, chronic inflammation, poor nutrient absorption, hormonal disruption, and mood issues, and why merely adding supplements or eating “clean” foods cannot fix it if the gut is damaged. Hedenbäck introduces a three‑pillar framework for gut restoration: (1) Eliminate the factors that damage the gut—stress‑induced eating, ultra‑processed foods, seed oils, glyphosate, unnecessary medications, and overstimulation from caffeine, nicotine, and artificial sweeteners; (2) Rebuild the gut by adopting parasympathetic eating habits (slow, screen‑free meals, proper chewing), supporting stomach acid, rebuilding the gut lining with collagen, glycine, glutamine, zinc, bone broth, and incorporating fermented foods, healthy fats, bile‑supporting bitters, and adequate hydration/minerals; (3) Make the changes sustainable through consistent meal timing, avoiding constant snacking, regular stress‑management practices (walks, sunlight, breathwork), and daily movement. He illustrates the framework’s effectiveness with client case studies (Artur and Blake) who experienced rapid reductions in bloating, inflammation, and dramatic improvements in energy, hormones, and physique. Hedenbäck emphasizes that gut health accounts for roughly 80 % of overall health outcomes for high‑performers, and invites viewers to apply for his “Superhuman Protocol” assessment and watch a follow‑up video on chronic stress management.

Okay, so this is a picture of me a few years ago. Inflamed, bloated, brain fog every single day, and energy levels that jumped off a cliff by 2 PM every single day. And during this time, I trained hard and I ate exactly what every single bodybuilder and fitness influencer told me to eat. I built some muscles, sure, but the bloating, inflammation, low energy, and low libido was still my reality every single day. And I didn't feel like I was rewarded from the work I was putting in. And it felt like I was literally fighting an uphill battle. And what I failed to understand back then was that my gut health was the root To all of that. And nobody had ever taught me anything about gut health. It was just eat your fiber, take this supplement, and take your greens powder, and you'll have a healthy gut, right? But none of those things works. So in this video, I'm going to show you exactly what actually fixed it for me, because it had nothing to do with supplements, training, or food. Fixing your gut is one of the highest leverage things that you can do for your body and your health, because if it's not working, it doesn't matter how clean you eat, how hard you train, or how expensive your food is. You won't absorb the nutrients. You'll stay inflamed. And your results will stay capped. I was putting in all the effort and getting almost nothing in return. And the one thing that changed everything was understanding that it was never a training or a nutrition problem. You see, your gut breaks down food, absorbs nutrients, regulates your immune system, influences your hormones, and even affects your brain and mood. Compromised, you get dysbiosis, leaky gut, chronic inflammation, poor absorption, and you You can literally be eating the best grass-fed meat and organic vegetables and still feel low energy, bloated, and foggy because your system can't process what you're giving it. And most people try to fix this by adding another probiotic or another supplement without ever removing what's damaging the gut in the first place. That's building on a broken foundation. You cannot heal a gut that you keep irritating every single day. Think of this as a flywheel. A gut that is inflamed and unhealthy doesn't just stay contained to digestion. It drags down your energy production, disrupts hormones, Raises inflammation, overloads your detox pathways, and affects your mood. Fix the gut and the same flywheel runs in reverse. Energy goes up, hormones improve, inflammation drops, and everything downstream gets easier at the same time. So now when we understand the importance of the gut, let's go over the exact 3-pillar framework I use to actually fix it. And it looks like this: eliminate what's damaging it, rebuild what's broken, and then make it sustainable. So first pillar is eliminate. And this is the most important step because if you skip this, nothing else works. So let's look at the most common mistakes you are probably making right now. First of all, eating in a stressed state. The single biggest one. Eating whilst you're working on your phone, rushing between meetings, keeps you in a sympathetic state, and your body cannot properly digest food outside a parasympathetic state. So stomach acid will drop, enzymes drop, absorption drops, and even a perfect food becomes a problem, right? I'd argue an average meal eaten completely calm beats a perfect meal Even stressed between meetings every single day of the week. And this is exactly the pattern I see in entrepreneurs constantly, right? Rushing 5 minutes between the next meeting, let's shove down the lunch. It's always just activated, always this grind mindset. Ultra-processed food is maybe not surprising for you to hear. You know, we have the obvious ones, but there's also a lot of non-obvious ones, such as instant coffee, flavored yogurts, Quark or Skyr, protein powder, store-bought sourdough. All of these things are ultra-processed and are damaging your gut. I have a very simple rule that I always use when I think about if something is a food or a product. If there's a boardroom of people behind What you're about to eat—it's a product, not food—and that simple framework alone will eliminate almost 90% of all the garbage. Seed oils and inflammatory foods, including you know once people think are healthy legumes, nuts, grains, seeds, oats, wheat—these skew your omega-6 to omega-3 ratio hard—and cutting them is one of the single biggest wins I see with new clients coming in. Glyphosate, pesticides, and unnecessary medication is also another thing. These wipe out beneficial gut bacteria the same way antibiotics do. Source clean, ideal organic food, and don't reach for pills. As your first response to every single symptom. Chronic stress reduces stomach acid, digestive enzymes, and blood flow to your digestion and increases gut permeability. Think in terms of a daily stress budget. Fill it past capacity and you're in debt, and nothing recovers properly until you pay it down. I go deep into this exact concept in my chronic stress video, so if you want that full breakdown, check one of the links below. Overuse of stimulations is also a big mistake everyone is making. Caffeine, energy drinks, nicotine, artificial sweeteners, even high-quality Coffein excess overstimulates a nervous system that's already overloaded. And once you've started to actually remove what's attacking the system, this is where most people get it wrong. They try to rebuild with supplements instead of what the body is actually asking for. So how does the second pillar then look? Well, we want to start to incorporate good habits. We want to eat in a parasympathetic state. We want to slow down, breathe, no screens, chew properly, and be present. This changes digestion more than any supplement ever will, and it costs nothing. It's literally free. Support stomach acid and proper chewing. A simple arugula, olive oil, salt, and pepper starter before the main meal works perfect. We also want to rebuild the gut lining. Collagen, glycine, glutamine, zinc, bone broth, nose-to-tail eating. And we of course always want to favor real food first. Oysters for zinc instead of an isolated zinc supplement, since real food obviously gives us the correct ratio, the balance between zinc and copper, as an example. We also want to improve the microbiome. Every single meal you should have something fermented— sauerkraut, kimchi, kefir, or properly made sourdough, pickles. Even just a teaspoon on the plate improves your body's ability to digest everything else on that plate. Optimize your nervous system— daily walks, sunlight, breathwork, time in nature. If there's one single pillar that gives you the most return on the effort you put in, it's this one. And I map out the exact protocols for this for each client inside my coaching program, since it depends heavily on, of course, your specific schedule and stress load and all these things. So if you want that level of detail, there's a link in the description. We want to improve our bile flow. Healthy fats, egg yolks, taurine, bitters. For omega-3s, favor real sources here as well— mackerel, sardines, herring— over nuts, seeds, or chia seeds. And of course, the supplement version. Hydration and minerals. Proper hydration and real unrefined salt will do more for you than almost any supplement. And your gut can't heal itself if you don't have salt and minerals available. Once we've implemented all these good habits, we move on to the last pillar, sustainability and lifestyle. And this is where The real results come from, because this is not a 7-day reset. This is a full-blown system. Daily, you want to eat at consistent times. You want to chew properly. You want to always avoid constant snacking. You want to manage your stress, move your body. And weekly, you want to keep inflammatory foods out, stay consistent with all the right and healthy meals, and support digestion every single day, not just when you remember, because gut healing takes time, but it compounds. So consistency is the entire game, and that's the secret. So fix this and you start absorbing nutrients properly. Energy stabilizes, your hormones improve, your inflammation drops, and your physique improves as a byproduct because you're finally optimizing the system that processes everything else you're doing instead of optimizing on top of a broken foundation. Artur came to me as a business owner, bloated, inflamed, had already been through other coaches with a decent training foundation but no real answers for how he felt. And 2 months later, Bloating gone, inflammation gone, and feeling like a completely different person, and obviously looking insane as well. And then we have Blake. Blake's transformation across three and a half months wasn't from just training and nutrition alone. This comes from dialing in your gut health, hormones, sleep, and mitochondrial health all at once.
This is definitely without a shadow of a doubt the strongest I've ever been in my life. I'm pretty damn strong. It feels good.
And that's the pattern every time. It's never just one input; it's the whole. System working together. And those were just 2 of all my clients I've helped go through the same journey. And I'll say it again, you don't get results like this from just having the perfect training and the perfect nutrition plan. That's maybe 20% of the equation. 80% comes from gut health, stress management, mitochondrial health, sleep, and optimizing your whole life around. So if you're just looking for a training and a nutrition plan, respectfully, working with me is not for you. If you're a busy guy who doesn't have time to mess around and want real return on the time you put into Well, there's a link in the description to apply for an assessment call with my right-hand man, Anton. We're going to map out your current situation, find your actual bottlenecks, leave you with a clear roadmap, and see if the Superhuman Protocol is the right fit for you. But there's also one part of this framework that deserves an entire video by itself— your nervous system. Because you can eat the cleanest diet in the world and do everything we just talked about, but if you're spending your entire day completely switched on, you're still creating an environment where digestive symptoms can be harder to manage. And the problem here is that most high performers don't even realize They're doing it. They've been stressed for so long that being stressed feels normal. So make sure to watch this next video. I'm going to show you exactly how I think about chronic stress, the stress chart, why your stress should look like a wavy chart rather than a line that climbs straight up, and the practical resets I use throughout the day to bring it back down. Because for me, understanding that was one of the biggest missing pieces to finally getting my gut and the rest of my health under control. So make sure to watch it.
