In this 15‑minute YouTube monologue, Lucas Wilhelm Hedenbäck shares the personal journey that took him from years of calorie‑counting, two‑hour daily workouts, and chronic frustration to a sustainable, lean physique while eating foods he enjoys and training only 2‑3 times per week. He argues that the conventional fitness playbook—strict calorie restriction, high‑volume training, and ignoring the body’s internal systems—fails because it conflicts with human biology. Lucas introduces a three‑lever framework that addresses the root causes of stubborn fat and poor health: 1. Gut health and nutrient absorption – a damaged gut lining, dysbiosis, and chronic stress turn food into inflammation. He outlines how to eliminate ultra‑processed foods, seed oils, and artificial sweeteners, then rebuild the gut with bone broth, collagen, slow‑cooked meats, and fermented foods. A client case (Charles) demonstrates rapid improvements in skin, bloating, and energy without any calorie counting. 2. Hormonal balance and stress management – excessive training volume adds to an already taxed stress budget, elevating cortisol, lowering testosterone and thyroid function. Lucas recommends cutting training to 3‑4 high‑quality sessions per week, focusing on progressive overload, prioritizing sleep, and using simple stress‑reduction tools (morning light, breathwork, blue‑light limits). A second client case (Landon) shows how halving training frequency led to leaner physique, higher energy, and better work output. 3. Lifestyle regulation and habit systems – consistent meal timing, eating mindfully away from screens, and anchoring the day with morning sunlight create a predictable internal rhythm that supports the gut and hormones. Whole‑food meals (eggs, quality meat, fermented foods, healthy fats) become a by‑product of internal health rather than a visual goal. Lucas then walks through his own daily routine as a 7‑figure entrepreneur: morning light exposure, a protein‑rich first meal, 2‑3 upper‑lower‑upper strength sessions, and disciplined meal timing. He emphasizes that the system works because it aligns with natural biology, not because of willpower. The video ends with a call to action to book a health audit or one‑on‑one coaching. Overall, the content blends personal narrative, scientific rationale, client anecdotes, and concrete actionable steps to present a holistic, low‑effort method for staying lean year‑round.

Over the last three years, I've managed to get and stay lean whilst eating food I actually enjoy and working out only two to three times per week. But before this, I spent years looking like this while stressing about every single calorie I was eating, working out two hours daily, and basically pushing my body to its limit without seeing any results. And the only thing that changed to get me from here to here was one simple shift in my lifestyle that no other fitness, health guru, anyone in this space will ever tell you. But I'm going to tell you exactly. what that is right now. You see, when most people want to get lean, they cut. For example, back in the days, I dropped to 1,800 calories per day, cut out carbs, ate completely tasteless chicken and broccoli for months, and I did lose some weight. But then 2 or 3 weeks in, the cravings hit, my energy dropped, and I just completely fell off. Because when you do this, it turns into a brutal cycle of you telling yourself you need more willpower, but restriction actually fights your body's biology. So your body has no choice but to fight back. And I tried this for years, right? Perfect macros, perfect training plan, but I still stay stuck. But I was doing everything right according to these fitness influencers and roided-up bodybuilders that I was listening to. But once I realized that 2 people can eat exactly the same meal, same portions, and what happens inside their body is completely different— person A eats the food and breaks it down efficiently, protein goes to muscle repair, nutrients gets absorbed, and energy stays stable for hours. But person B It's the exact same meal, and it feeds the wrong bacteria, which passes through a damaged gut lining, triggers inflammation, and the protein never reaches the muscle. And that was exactly me. I was training hard, eating the best food I could, doing everything right on paper, but still getting bloated, holding onto water, thinking I just needed to push harder, and eventually I would get to where I wanted. But when your nervous system is stuck in fight or flight and your hormones are off, your body can't process what you give it. But there are three levers that you can use to fix this, and now that I understand them, I can eat 3,500 calories per day, not worry about tracking and getting even better results because I understand the fundamentals. And the first lever of this is the most overlooked one in the entire fitness industry, and that is absorption. You see, your gut determines whether the food you eat becomes fuel or becomes inflammation. So if your gut lining is damaged, if you have dysbiosis, if you're chronically eating in a stressed state, it doesn't matter if you're eating grass-fed steak or organic vegetables, organic potatoes, organic rice, organic fruit. And I see this constantly with clients— guys doing everything right, spending serious money on food quality, but still looking bloated and feeling terrible because their gut can't actually process what they're giving it. And the first step is to actually remove what's wrecking it in the first place. So that's ultra-processed foods, seed oils, artificial sweeteners, just to name a few. And once you've removed all the things that is damaging your gut in the first place, start rebuilding. And that's implementing things as bone broth, collagen-rich foods, slow-cooked meats, fermented foods at every meal such as sauerkraut, kefir, kimchi, to make sure we get good bacteria in our gut. And when your gut is working properly, your body actually starts to absorb the protein that you eat, so each nutrient reaches the muscle, inflammation drops, and that soft, bloated look most guys just accept completely clears up. And this doesn't just help with bloating, it It's fixing your system at the core, which also solves a ton of other issues. For example, my client Charles had been trying to fix his gut for 10 years. He spent somewhere between $20,000 and $30,000 on practitioners, tests, and supplement stacks trying to fix brain fog, energy levels, and skin issues that were not only affecting his work but his confidence too, and also his performance and results in the gym. And when we started working together, we diagnosed the problem and stopped what was breaking the system by giving it what it actually needed to repair in the first place. And within a few months, his skin was clearing, the bloating was gone, and he never once counted a calorie through the whole process. And if you'd like to work directly with me, where we take an approach where we don't just look at your training and nutrition, but actually analyze the entire system to optimize your health to the top 0.001%, we've helped hundreds of entrepreneurs, athletes, and high performers completely change and overhaul their health at this point. So if you're interested, go ahead and click the link In the description, you'll hop on a call with me or my right-hand man Anton, and we will audit exactly what is going on in your body right now and give you a clear action plan on exactly how to fix it and see if it's a good fit to work one-to-one. But fixing the gut is only lever one, because even with a healthy gut, there's a second thing that is storing fat, destroying your hormones, and making it impossible to stay lean. And most guys have no idea this is happening. You see, most fitness advice online was written by bodybuilders on steroids for bodybuilders on steroids. And if you're a normal person, With a business and a real life, real responsibilities, that advice is absolutely terrible because your body runs on a finite stress budget every single day. Training, work, bad sleep all eat up that budget fast, and your nervous system don't understand where it comes from. It all hits the same system. So when you stack intense training on top of an already full life, something has to give. And usually it's your hormones, it's cortisol staying elevated, it's your testosterone that's dropping and your thyroid that's slowing. Down. But the biggest mistake most guys are making is that they're training even harder when this is how their life is looking. 3 to 4 quality sessions a week is more than enough. You don't need 5 to 6 days and a bunch of cardio. Lower the volume, but stay on an aggressive progressive overload because muscle gets built during recovery. So when you prioritize giving your body the recovery and nutrients it needs to build the muscle, it allows you to go harder and get stronger faster. And you'll see your body composition change almost immediately as your hormones start to stabilize as well. My client Landon used to train 6 days a week, running a business, running on energy drinks and coffee, and getting nowhere. So the first thing that we did was cut his sessions in half, prioritize his sleep, and structured his training around his actual life and business. And 4 months later, he was leaner than he'd been in years with less effort than before, which is the crazy part. But not only that, his energy skyrocketed and his output per hour of work went up significantly. So the people who stay lean year-round without obsessing over it have built a system that works with their natural human biology. And that is the secret. And I was a perfect example. Full-time job while building a business, training 6 days per week, eating at my desk while my mind is raced 1,000 miles per hour, rushing through absolutely everything. And I was stuck there wondering why I didn't get the results that I wanted. My body ended up storing all of the fat because it thought someone was literally attacking me and trying to kill me. I want to challenge you here. Look honestly at your actual stress load right now. And let's be real, some of the things that cause stress are necessary, of course, like working hard or thinking about complex problems. They're very much needed. And the goal is never to fully take away stress. It's to teach your body how to handle it. The goal is teaching your body when to push and when to recover. Morning light, breathwork, walks after meals, capping blue light in the evening, training 3 structured intense sessions instead of 6 half-effort ones. If you do that, it brings cortisol back to a healthy rhythm and signals to your body that it's safe to release fat. Now, once your gut is rebuilt and your cortisol is under control, there's one final lever that locks everything in and turns all of this from a temporary phase into a permanent way of life that you don't have to even think about going about in your day-to-day. And that is lifestyle regulation, making it a system, not a sprint. And that starts with consistent meal timing. Just set an alarm or a calendar invite each day at the same time so your body knows when it's going to get fed. Timing is everything. Then we want to eat sitting down and away from our screens. Your body can't properly digest food in a stressed nervous system state. Like you're in all day at work. And a simple meal eaten completely calm will do more for your body composition than a perfect meal eaten at your desk rushed between meetings. The food itself should be whole foods, of course— eggs, quality meat, fermented foods every day, good fats from egg yolks and fatty fish— and build a body that is genuinely healthy from the inside. Because a lean physique is always a byproduct Real internal health. And that is the secret. And that is the shift that I want you to make up in your mind. If you're healthy, you will look healthy. Simple as that. So some of you might also be interested in how I'm structuring this in my everyday life. So here's what this actually looks like for me day to day running a 7-figure business. So the first thing that I always do every single morning is get outside. Morning light within 30 minutes of waking anchors my cortisol rhythm for the whole day, which improves energy, improves sleep later. So dialing in your light diet is such a powerful investment. First meal is either eggs or steak or maybe some properly made sourdough, depending on how I feel and if I'm going to train or not. And as I said earlier, I train 2 to 3 times per week with a simple upper-lower-upper split, focusing on progressive overload with each session. Now, if you're starting out, the gut takes weeks to rebuild and cortisol and hormones need consistent conditions to normalize. So start putting in the right inputs today and see how you feel a month from now, because the secret is always consistency. Well, if you do these things just one day, it's not really going to matter. You need to stay consistent with them. And funny enough, I'm not even trying to look good anymore. It just happens because I completely shifted my focus to generally trying to feel good rather than just trying to look good, which was my initial goal. So shift your focus and the results will come. So now you know exactly how to stay lean year-round without obsession. Staying lean is one byproduct of actually being healthy. And There's actually a full framework that I use with entrepreneurs to get every area of their health dialed in without it taking over their entire life.
