P*ptides Are a Scam, Here's What TO DO Instead

Lucas Wilhelm Hedenbäck argues that synthetic peptides like BPC-157 don't work because they bypass the body's own peptide-making system. Instead, he outlines three pillars: eat high-quality protein, remove chronic stressors like caffeine and overtraining, and optimize sleep and circadian rhythm. He claims this approach delivers faster sleep, stable energy, and better mood than peptide injections.

A few years ago, I was convinced that the answer to my gut issues was somewhere in a supplement stack. Glutamine, digestive enzymes, probiotics, greens powder, oregano oil, collagen peptides. I literally tried it all, but none of it actually worked. And if I'd known about peptides back then, I would have gone straight for BPC-157, thinking that was finally it. Finally, the one thing that would magically fix all my issues. The one magic thing I'd been looking for. But now, just a few years later, I'm insanely grateful that I didn't find that. And in this video, I'm going to show you exactly why BPC-157 And every sort of gut healing peptide on the market won't actually fix your gut and most likely make it even worse instead. And then I'll show you what actually will fix it and what you should be doing instead. At that period of my life I just talked to you about, I was literally doing everything right on paper. I was eating the highest quality food I could find, grass-fed steak, oysters every single week, spending thousands a month on food, but I still felt terrible. Low libido, bloated, soft, foggy, and I was training hard, eating the perfect macro split and still getting nowhere. But everything changed the moment I stopped asking, how do I look good? And started asking, how do I feel good? How do I actually feel good? Because that's generally all I wanted as well. I stopped caring about the visual results that I'd been chasing because everything that I wanted at this time was to feel good. I wanted energy that lasted me all day long. I wanted to eat whatever I want without getting bloated. Just wanted to feel good in my day-to-day life. And that single shift in focus is exactly what actually fixed my gut, not any sort of single supplement or a specific protocol. One of the mistakes that I nearly made, and the one I see in almost every single guy who messaged me and asked me about what my opinion on peptides and all these things is, is assuming that if the tissue needs repairing, The answer is to inject. Sure, BPC-157 might help repair tissue, but why did the tissue get damaged in the first place? That's the question almost nobody is asking. That's like hiring a contractor to patch a leaking roof every single time it storms. A patch holds for a while, but you never dealt with why the roof keeps leaking in the first place, and eventually the whole thing needs replacing. When you inject a synthetic version of something your body should be producing itself, you're not fixing the system, you're teaching it to stop trying. Your body's own repair signaling shuts down even further and you become dependent on the synthetic version instead of ever rebuilding your own capacity. You see, your body already knows how to repair tissue, gut lining, muscle, and skin. It does it literally every single day. So stick with me because I'm going to explain exactly how to optimize these things naturally. Before that, I'll explain something that almost nobody talks about, including most of the people that are selling you the syringes or these peptides, right? Your body is already a peptide factory. This is how I like to think about it. A peptide is just a short chain of amino acids. It's nothing magical. And your body produces this constantly on its own as signaling molecules, messengers that tell your tissue to repair, trigger specific hormones, regulate inflammation, and support your gut lining. And every single function in your body runs on this. The exact system BPC-157 is trying to replace is already running inside you right now. And every time you eat a quality protein source— beef, eggs, organ meats, fish— your digestive system breaks that protein down into amino acids, then reassembles them into the exact peptide chain that your body needs in the exact amount and in the exact time. That's not a supplement. That's not a syringe. That's digestion doing exactly what it's built to do. So here's the real question nobody's asking. If your body can already do these things, why isn't it doing it efficiently for you right now? And is injecting a synthetic version of the end product actually fixing that or just working around it? And we can think of this like a car factory with a defect somewhere across the sort of assembly line. Every car that rolls off is going to come out broken. Not because the parts going in are bad, but because something in the assembly process itself is off. And your body works the same way. When you're not producing and utilizing these amino acid chains properly, that's not deficiency of some synthetic compound sitting in a fridge. That's a signal the system doing the producing is broken. And what actually breaks that system? Well, poor gut function, impaired digestion, chronic stress suppressing the biological machinery. That runs this process, missing the raw materials your body needs to build these chains in the first place. That's the actual root, not a lack of BPC-157, because you cannot supplement your way out of chronic stress, poor sleep, overtraining, and a dysregulated nervous system. Eventually, that bill comes due. So here is then actually how to fix the factory itself and the 3 things I have every single client do instead of reaching For the syringes. First of all, we need to feed the factory. Give your body the actual raw materials it needs to build these chains itself. That means quality protein daily. 4 to 6 eggs, 300 to 500 grams of ruminant meat like beef, lamb, or bison. And this alone covers most of your amino acid base. Then we have organ meats, liver at least once a week, ideally closer to daily, as one of the most nutrient and peptide-dense foods that exists. I treat Liver, like the best supplement on the shelf. That's my go-to. And then we want to have heart and kidney as well if we can. They're rich in coenzyme Q10, taurine, B12 compounds involved around detoxification and immune regulation. We want collagen-rich cuts as well. Slow-cooked bone-in meat gives you the glycine and proline that the muscle meat alone just doesn't give you. And this is the single most commonly missed piece, and it's the actual food-based version of what BPC-157 is marketed to you as. This is the single most commonly missed. Piece, and it's the actual food-based version of what BPC-157 is marketed to do. If you only eat muscle meat, you're only supporting your muscle. If you want to support your joints and your gut lining, you have to eat the joints and the connective tissues too. Fatty fish, 2 to 3 servings a week. Sardines or mackerel are the easiest way to hit this consistently. That's what I personally do even while traveling. You can take a bunch with you. Collagen powder can also be good as a backup. Not a replacement. Especially useful if your diet leans heavily towards muscle meat, then this is fantastic to add in. But once again, not as a replacement. Hit these things consistently and there's no gap left for a synthetic peptide to fill. Like literally, your body already has every single raw material it needs. But the thing we have to understand is that none of this matters if the factory floor itself is shut down, which is exactly what chronic stress does to your gut. So the second thing in this equation is to remove the load and especially the stress load, because before you can rebuild anything, you have to stop what's actively breaking it down. Because you cannot calm a system you keep overstimulating. So chronic caffeine, especially fasted or late in the day, keeping your nervous system activated when it should be recovering. Late-night blue light— the longer you're in artificial light after sunset, the longer your system stays activated instead of winding down. One client, Jory, made one change: a hard stop on work at 9 PM instead of 10. Phone away, proper wind-down. His deep and REM sleep doubled from a 2-hour average to 4 hours in just one week by implementing one thing. Constant multitasking with no No real breaks, eating whilst working, no reset points throughout the day. That means that the stress load never comes back down to baseline. Think of it as a chart. Stress without a reset just climbs until you hit a ceiling and land in stress death. What you want is a wavy chart. Stress, reset, stress, reset, stress, reset. Undereating and low carbs during a high stress period, that's also one of the biggest mistakes I made myself. Your body reads a chronic deficit as another threat and doubles down on survival mode. This is why you can eat in a calorie deficit super low amounts of food and still not lose any weight. Overtraining, 5 or 6 intense sessions a week with no deload, pulls from the exact same stress budget as work and life. I go deep on exactly how to manage this stress budget inside my coaching program. So if you want that level of detail, there's a link in the description. The last pillar in this equation is to regulate and recover. That means morning sunlight. It will help you anchor your cortisol curve, regulate circadian rhythm, and improve sleep that night. Red light in winter when there's no sun is a fantastic substitute as well. Then we have breathwork, slow nasal breathing, box breathing, even 5 slow breaths before a meal that works It's magic. Use it often. It's the best tool we have available. And then we have grounding and nature immersion, lowers inflammatory load and improves HRV in ways almost nothing else replicates. One nature immersion a week minimum is the bare minimum, literally. Then we have parasympathetic meals. Sit down, no screen, chew slowly. Don't rush a protein shake the second you finish training. That's literally the worst nightmare because your body can't properly absorb in a stressed state. We already know this. Consistent sleep and wake schedule, an actual wind-down routine, weekly low stimulation days, and real deloads built into training so that you're nervous system can actually consolidate instead of just accumulating load consistently. Stress itself isn't the enemy. Acute stress, cold exposure, hard training, and focused work can train your system to handle more over time. So the goal was never to remove stress completely. It's rebuilding the capacity to absorb it, to adapt, and to come back stronger from it. That's the goal. Follow this framework, and within a few weeks, you'll notice deeper sleep, more stable energy, less bloating, better mood, and training starting to feel Easier with less caffeine needed. And within months, your body composition shifts, hormone signaling improves, inflammation drops, and focus sharpens because the factory is finally running on its own again, not because of anything you've injected through a syringe. This is exactly the framework that I take every single one of my clients with, because you're not just getting insane results like this in such a short amount of time by just dialing in your training and nutrition. No, this comes from actually addressing the root, the And fixing your whole system. Training and nutrition only gets you so far. That's 20% of the equation. The other 80% comes from dialing in your gut health, fixing your stress, fixing your nervous system, optimizing all these small lifestyle variables around. That is the real results, and that is where the real magic happens. So if you're interested in working directly with me, I should be very clear about this. This is not a generic training and nutrition plan. It's a full in-depth health protocol across your whole system, because until your stress and gut health are addressed, it doesn't matter how hard you train or how clean you eat. it won't yield any results. So if you're sick and tired of listening to all these surface-level things and people selling you the next magic pill or syringe, there's a link in the description to book a free assessment call with my right-hand man Anton to see if you're a good fit to join us. We'll map out where you're at, find your actual bottleneck, and see if the Superman Protocol is the right fit for you. Now, if you're already convinced at this point that peptides aren't the answer, the next thing to focus more on is obviously dialing in your nervous system. Video walks you through exactly how to optimize that without needing to go on a 4-week vacation. So make sure to go watch that one next.
