This Is Why Your Health Never Improves

In this solo presentation, health coach Lucas Wilhelm Hedenbäck argues that chronic health problems are not a collection of isolated symptoms but the result of a single overloaded system. He introduces the "domino and butterfly effect" metaphor: a small, often hidden stressor (the first domino) triggers a cascade of physiological failures—sympathetic over‑activation, impaired digestion, leaky gut, systemic inflammation, hormonal collapse, poor recovery, and ultimately the myriad symptoms people experience (gut issues, brain fog, low energy, skin flare‑ups, etc.). Lucas critiques the conventional approach of treating each symptom in isolation (e.g., gut specialists, dermatologists, trainers) and stresses that fixing one downstream issue while the upstream trigger remains active yields no lasting improvement. He illustrates the concept with client case studies (Adam, Landon, Nick, Leo, Thomas). In Adam’s case, cutting ties with a stressful ex‑girlfriend—an apparently minor psychosocial change—removed the first domino, leading to rapid systemic recovery despite unchanged diet and training. Similar patterns are described for other clients, showing that identifying and addressing the root stressor can produce swift, holistic health gains. Lucas then provides a practical exercise: viewers should write down the invisible stressor they suspect is their first domino and the decisive action that could trigger a positive butterfly effect. He emphasizes that health is about optimizing the whole system (nervous system, gut, hormones, recovery) so it can efficiently process inputs like nutrition and training. Finally, he promotes his 1‑to‑1 coaching program, the Superhuman Protocol, offering a full health audit, identification of bottlenecks, and targeted interventions to hit the “lowest hanging fruit.” The pitch is aimed at high‑performing individuals (e.g., business owners, founders) who need a clear roadmap rather than generic diet/exercise advice. The core takeaway: stop chasing symptoms; locate the first domino, address it, and let the butterfly effect transform overall health.

So let me guess, you train hard, you eat well, you invest in your health more than most people you know, and you still wake up feeling like something is fundamentally off. You still feel like you're not really getting the results out of the, the inputs and effort you're putting in. And this is not a discipline problem, this is a system problem. And Nobody has probably looked at the full picture, and that is exactly why you're at where you're at. You might have even been going to a to a naturopath or a functional medicine doctor for your gut issues, and they've only been looking at the gut. Or you've been going to a dermatologist for for your skin issues, and they've always been just looking at the the skin, right? What all of these people, whatever you've tried, has done wrong is just focusing on one one variable at a time. Maybe you've had a personal trainer. But they've just focused on the training and nutrition without understanding that you have some gut issues and that you have an overloaded nervous system and all these things. And the core principle that we have to understand here is that you don't have 30 different problems. You have one overloaded system. And in order to get to the root of this and to the bottom of this, we have to understand what the first trigger of that is. And that is exactly what I'm going to cover with you today. And I call this the domino and the butterfly effect. What this states is that isolating the first little thing that sets off the ripple effect is the most important thing when it comes to your healing. So if we have a gut issue, we have to understand what is it that triggers that, because maybe it has nothing to do with the gut and the food that you're eating. It might be something completely else. So if you watch this video to its fullest, you'll walk away understanding exactly how One little thing can spiral and ripple into multiple different things in your body, and this is the reason, in my opinion, why you most likely are stuck when you've been trying so many different things. Before you before we dive in, also, if you're new to the channel, first of all, welcome. My name is Lucas. I'm just a regular guy from Stockholm, Sweden, and over the last five to six years, I've dedicated all my time and energy to try to. Solve this complex thing called health. And all I do on this channel is break all the lessons and learnings from all my clients and from my past journey myself into valuable takeaways so that you can just walk away, implement, and see the results. Let's dive into it. So the domino effect, what is this then? Well, most people think about their health problems as separate things, as I said. Gut issues, brain fog, whatever it might be. Low energy, poor recovery, hormonal problems, skin flaring, poor sleep. Thirty separate problems, thirty separate solutions. But that is not what is actually happening. What is actually happening is a domino chain. One thing falls and it takes everything else with it. So think about this. Domino one. Let's say it starts with chronic stress—not always obvious. Work, training load, finances, whatever it might be—a relationship—all running in the background. Quiet, constant load. The nervous system never gets to put down. So the first domino here is the nervous system gets stuck in sympathetic dominance. Just a baseline that is slightly too activated. It doesn't have to be crazy. Just a slight, slight overactivation on top of baseline. The system can shift into the state where healing actually happens. That's the first domino. Domino 2 and 3 here. Digestion shuts down as a byproduct. Stomach acid drops, enzymes decrease, motility slows. Your body's not interested in digesting food when it thinks you're in danger. Third domino, the gut lining breaks down. Without proper digestion and repair signals, the gut becomes permeable. Inflammatory compounds start leaking into the bloodstream. This is where you see joint pains, brain fog, shit energy levels, whatever it might be. 4, 5, 6, 7. Systemic inflammation becomes baseline. Brain fog, low mood, anxiety, skin flares, joint pain, immune dysfunction. 5th, hormone collapse. Testosterone drops, growth hormone impaired, body diverts everything to cortisol. 6th domino, recovery disappears. Muscle is not built, fat not metabolized, and sleep degrades. Training returns less and less. Stress tolerance drops even further. You become more reactive, less resilient, And then the spiral tightens. Nobody looks at the whole chain here. You go to a doctor once again, they look at one domino, they look at one variable at a time. Gut specialist, one hormone doctor, one functional medicine, one. Nobody looks at the chain and nobody asks what pushes or what triggered and pushed the first one. And this is what we have to understand. You cannot fix a domino chain by propping up one tile while the rest are still falling. The gut protocol doesn't work if the nervous system is still on the road. The nutrition can't be absorbed by a digestive system shut shut down by survival mode. I've I said this so many times. It doesn't matter how clean you eat. You can still you can eat the best of the best food and still have bloating. It can still cause gut dysbiosis, leaky gut, even if you eat the best of the best grass-fed steak and everything top quality, seasonal, local, whatever. I don't care if your system is not. Properly efficient when you give the inputs, it doesn't matter. Doesn't matter. So I want you to think about this for a second because you probably have one in some sort of instance in your life where, where this has happened. Think about when a situation when everything started to shift for you, a period when the load first exceeded your capacity, and maybe a stressful period at work, drainage, relationship, overtraining, poor sleep. I got infection. Write this down. This is your first domino. Let's say it's overtraining. What happens then? What happens then? What happens after that? Spirals in, or the spiral continues and it doesn't stop. It just keeps on, keep on, keep on going. And I want to show you a very interesting example of this from, from, from another client. So This is Adam. This client of mine. So when Adam came to me for the first three months, nothing changed. This is the body composition that we held for three months. We were doing everything right from an input perspective: perfect food, perfect training, perfect inputs when it came to stress management and everything. So we thought, right? And Adam had the Severe gut issues and diabetes, and I thought that ah shit diabetes has has bet me this time. But then we realized something, and this was something Adam never filled me in on. But we always thought that oh it's stressful times at work that is maybe the issue, things like this. And then we deployed strategies to try to fix that, but nothing really worked. Two and a half months later. Or after making one small change and one small decision, this is what happened. I'm going to tell you the crazy part. You know what this one small input was? It was cutting ties with his old girlfriend. So looking back at it, Adam realized that his girlfriend was probably not the best for him, right? Maybe a bit of narcissistic traits, whatever it might be. That was something that constantly stimulated him and was constantly laying in the back of his mind. And if we think about this once again, that one little thing that elevates your baseline, a constant little stress stimulator that lays in the back of your mind, whether it's in your conscious or subconscious mind, that one little thing that is an unprocessed thought, something you think about all the time, just blossoms into all these other problems and things down the line. Right? This is why it's so important to understand this concept, because this means that you might be doing everything right, but there's something you're missing, whether that be your gut, your stress, your nervous system stuck in fight or flight, whatever it might be. There's one simple small little thing missing that sets off the bad, the negative chain reaction. But the opposite also here is true. If we can isolate that one thing, we can also very quickly start to set off the domino in a positive direction. And this is exactly what happened here. Literally no change in inputs, same food, same training. We'd been stuck here for 3 months, no change in the visuals, like literally no change. And then boom, one little decision, everything starts to click. And I have so many examples of this with clients where you have, let's say we're in a phase where we're trying to lose some weight and generally speaking get in better shape, and then fat loss stops, right? The scale stops. If you go to a regular personal trainer, what are they going to tell you? Well, they're going to tell you two things: eat even less and move even more. Do even more cardio. What is that? More stress, more stress on top of an already overstressed system. They never look at how's your workload right now, how's all these variables around, do you have a more stressful time at home, at work, whatever. How can we manage and and and change those things and auto regulate so that we adapt everything right? This is not even in the picture. It's eat less, move more. More stress, more stress. What do you think is going to happen? Well, it might work, but you're going to feel like a— you're going to feel shit. That is going to be the outcome. You might get in shape, but you're going to need 5 weeks of vacation after because you feel so terrible after you're done with that. And that's not worth it, at least in my, my opinion. What is the physique worth if you feel terrible? That is not the goal. The goal is to feel a million bucks. The goal is to have laser-sharp focus. The goal is to have energy that lasts you throughout the whole day. The goal is to be, to feel sharp and strong after you've eaten and feel like all the food that you're eating is going directly to recovery and to fueling you and to, to building muscle. Not feeling sluggish, not feeling bloating after you're eating, not feeling like you need a nap after midday just to get through, or not feeling that you have to rely on caffeine. This is the goal, and this is exactly what I did as well back in, in, in the days when I completely shifted my focus, because I always, always wanted wanted to be a bodybuilder in the beginning, and I completely shifted my focus because I felt terrible. Yes, I'd built some muscles, I got some results, but I felt terrible, right? Shifted my focus to instead of trying to focus on the look good part, how can I feel good? And everything changed from there. I actually started getting into the best shape of my life and got the physiques that I had always chased, and I felt amazing, which was the most important thing for me. So this is the domino and the butterfly effect. And how we can think about this is, you know, a butterfly flaps its wings in one place, changes the weather on the other side of the world. Small cause, enormous consequence. Invisible connections. You can't really see this. It doesn't make sense that this happened from just like one little thing, but it's absolutely true. And this is exactly how healing works when you address the root. You don't fix one system and And move to the next. You address one root cause and then the whole system starts moving simultaneously. Adam removed one small stressor and everything downstream changed from that. And you probably are living proof already to this. You watching this has probably made one decision: stop chasing symptoms, start addressing the system. And that one decision sometime in your life has set off a chain you couldn't have predicted yourself. For some of you, it might have been that your gut issues you carried for years fixed by by one little thing. Some of you might have had energy that now is best it's ever been, and for some of you, it might be a sleep sleep thing, and sleep is you're sleeping through the night for first time in years. You didn't do thirty things to get there; you made one decision, and that is the butterfly effect. I love this visual as well. Here we have the example: one stressor in Adam's situation just blossoms to multiple different things. And the concept and the key thing I want you to to take away from this is that your gut issues are not gut issues; they are system issues. Your low energy is not a sleep problem; it's a system problem. Your hormonal issues are not a hormone problem; it's a System problem, right? These are downstream dominoes, not the cause. The gut specialist looks at domino four. The sleep specialist looks at domino six. The hormone doctor looks at domino five, right? Someone looks here. Someone looks here. Someone looks here. Nobody asks what pushed the first one, and until you ask that question and answer it honestly, the chain will forever, forever always keep falling. You don't have 30 problems. You have one system, and that system has been trying to tell you something through every symptom, every plateau, everything that didn't respond. It has been. It hasn't been failing you. It's been asking you to look at the full picture. Adam's butterfly was a relationship. Yours might be something completely different. Whatever it is, when you find it and address it, the butterfly effect takes over. One decision compounds into. Everything else, and that is the takeaway I want you to have from this video. So this is also a good little practice that you can do: write down two things: the invisible stressor or root cause you believe has been your first domino over the last couple years, and second, the one decision that if you made it fully would set off the biggest butterfly effect in your health and life right now. What are those things? Those things. Be honest with yourself, write these things down, and most importantly, take action on them. If you take action on those, your life could change forever. One super, super small thing that will compound into everything else. Not a symptom to fix, not a supplement to add, a root to address. And this is exactly why I take the approach that I take with all my clients, as I say all the time. We don't focus on just training and nutrition because it's very surface level. We focus on fixing the root to whatever situation and whatever life you're living right now. Most of my clients are business owners. You will hear as a startup founder, you don't get these results from just addressing training and nutrition. You get this from addressing stress management, nervous system, and gut health, making sure that the system is fully optimized to actually be able to absorb and utilize the inputs it's Give you're giving it, right? Same thing with Landon here. Landon had been working out for ten years, ten years, and just four months later looking like this. This is not just from a perfect training and nutrition plan. This is from optimizing the system. Same thing with Nick. Same thing with Leo. Same thing with Thomas here as well. Forty years old. This is ninety days. You don't just get this from a from a little weight loss and a good training plan. This is optimizing the system. And letting the physique come as a byproduct of you actually truly being healthy. And if this feels like you, if you feel like you have some little trigger in the back of your mind, maybe it feels manageable right now. You're able to push through, you're able to push through. Maybe there's some brain fog. The gut is unpredictable, but you maybe work around it. One day it works, one day you're constipated, one day you have a bit of loose stool, but you can't really Really, really crack the code. The energy dips, but maybe caffeine is what covers it and gets you through the day. This only works until it doesn't, right? If you let your life look like this for years and you don't address the system underneath, the inflammation will compound, the hormones continue to decline. The gut environment gets worse and worse. Your recovery capacity drops every single week. The person you're building your business for, or your life for, and putting all this effort towards work, maybe the family, the people around you, starts getting the version of you that has nothing left after the day is done because he's fully wrecked, right? This is not health. Health is having a good system. that can handle all life's inputs. You shouldn't feel drained after work. You shouldn't have to be bloated and having gas after the food that you're eating. This is not life, right? And the sooner you realize that there is actually a solution to this, the better. Because otherwise, just as all the positive dominoes— how the positive dominoes works— the negative dominoes will continue to spiral and it will continue to get worse and worse. So you have to address all these things ASAP. And if that's something you want my personal help with, you should check out the first link in the description and apply to have a free assessment call with my right-hand man Anton. We're going to understand and take a look at your full situation, get a better understanding of where you're at with your health and see if the Superhuman Protocol, which is my 1-to-1 coaching program, could potentially be something for you. We do a full audit of exactly what you're doing and what your bottlenecks and issues are. Map everything out so there's never anything unclear about what you're doing wrong. Then we always focus on fixing the lowest hanging fruit. So if we see that your gut is the thing holding you back, okay, perfect. Let's absolutely double down on fixing that. What happens when we do this, when we do a full audit and then just addresses everything based on the issues and the bottlenecks we see, is that we also in most cases get results very, very quick. There will never be a fully guarantee that we, that we hit hit a bullseye on the first thing, on the first try. Maybe we think that you have a gut bacterial overgrowth and then it ends up being something else— SIFO, SIBO, whatever, right? There's never going to be a full, full guarantee. But what we do guarantee is that we will continue to shoot until we hit that bullseye. And that is exactly what I do with my clients inside my coaching program. Once again, Supremum Protocol. If you're interested in that, check out the first, the first link. This is not if you just want a training and nutrition plan. Absolutely not. This is for you if you're a high-level guy, you're running your business, you have hectic work, you just want to have everything laid out for you. You don't want to think, you just want to fix your shit, and you want to take the decision, the decision-making process off your table and just have someone to tell you exactly what to do, and your things will get fixed, and a crystal clear roadmap on how to get there. If that sounds like something for you, you know what to do. Without further ado, thanks for watching. Appreciate you. Hope this was helpful. Hope you have some good takeaways, and please go out and try to isolate that one thing that is holding you back. That's the one thing that I want you to take away from this. Thanks for watching. I'll see you in the next one.
