Why 95,8% Fail Their New Year Goals by February..

Lucas Wilhelm Hedenbäck explains why 95.8% of people quit their New Year goals by February: unrealistic targets and no system. He outlines what works instead: train three times weekly, prioritize 8+ hours of sleep, eat whole foods, and focus on daily inputs rather than outcomes.

Most people crash and burn by February, not because they're lazy, but because they're running on the wrong system. Here's the truth most people don't want to hear: they go too hard, too fast, and they set unrealistic goals. Every January 1st is the same thing, or maybe January 2nd depending on how your New Year's Eve is looking. But I'm going to wake up at 5:00 AM, train twice a day, and never eat carbs again. And then before February even hits, they're burnt out, unmotivated, injured, or just frustrated because they haven't reached what the goals they set out for themselves. Why? Because goals like that are not rooted in vitality; they're rooted in delusion. You have this picture in your head of who you want to be: ripped, motivated, energized overnight. But that's not how biology works. You don't wake up on March first looking like me or anyone else if you start from zero. I want to be very honest with you here. If you think two months of effort is going to transform you into your dream physique, that's delusional because what you see here. This shape, this energy came from years of consistency, daily alignment, and daily inputs. No crash goals, no unrealistic streaks. So this year, make one shift, one mindset shift. Detach yourself from the outcome and focus on your inputs. Most people obsess over the results. I want to be shredded by March. I want visible abs in eight weeks. I want to drop twenty pounds of fat. But the result is A delayed outcome. Let me give you a powerful analogy here. Think about a farmer. A farmer doesn't plant seeds one day and then walk into the field the next day expecting crops. He shows up day after day, he nourishes, waters, protects, and one day, seemingly out of nowhere, he reaps the rewards. And your body is exactly the same. You will never see the forest just after planting the seeds. You will never instantly see results just because you wanted them. But the inputs never lie. If you show up every day, do the work, you stack the wins bit by bit, your external results eventually show up. The mirror will always lie in the short term, but the steps you take each day, those quiet inputs, those are the real story. Here's where most people go off the rails in general. They think it's about effort. They train every day, they cut carbs to near zero, they starve themselves in midweek, they drink 3 cups of coffee just to get through the day, pre-workout. Energy drinks. And then, shocker, by February their sleep is shot, their nervous system is fried, and their motivation is completely gone. You see, effort without structure doesn't build performance, it accumulates stress. And stress is the biggest enemy of your progress. So if you want to build real results in 2026, here's the exact system I would use if I were starting over. I would train 3 times per week, 45-minute to an hour sessions. That's all you need, not 6 to 7 days of complete Balls to the walls. Purposeful training with intentional progression. Hard work isn't the enemy, overwork is. Because strength plus recovery is what will equal growth. Structured intent over random volume. Every set, every rep should have a purpose. You don't need more volume, you need better execution. You wanna eat whole foods, real foods, and don't fear carbs. Quality protein, healthy fats, and strategic carbs. Root vegetables, fruits around training, not avoidance. Living off shakes and powders, that's short-term thinking. Nutrition is fuel and signal. There's a super simple framework that I use here myself. If there's a boardroom of people behind the product or behind the thing that I'm going to put in my mouth, that's not food, that's a product. Cut out all processed food. Eat food, not products. And then we have your sleep. Sleep is not optional, it's foundational. Your hormones are rebuilt when you sleep. That's when testosterone, growth hormone, recovery, and repair happen. 8+ hours of quality sleep. Darkness, cool room, and no screens before bed. Circadian rhythm and sunlight. Try to get some morning sunlight even on cloudy days. Your biology runs on light cycles, not screen cycles. Go out in nature, walks, grounding, fresh air. These don't burn that much calories, but they balance your nervous system, which is a very important variable. So stop chasing outcomes, start building systems. Focus less on what you look like, focus more on what you do daily, because the outer world is just a reflection of the inner world. You stack inputs day in, day out, and eventually your body catches up to your intention. This is not a sprint, it's a system. And that's what will carry you through January, through February, and through all of 2026. Not short-lived willpower, not temporary desire. So if you're ready to actually transform in 2026, not just fade by February, I broke this down into a full guide, a more in-depth one. You'll find a complete roadmap and science behind it in my full 2026 guide. Check that out on my channel. Also, if you're interested in more of that nutrition philosophy, that I stick to myself and that I put all my clients on. That's also on my channel. So go check those out. That's your next step. By the end of those, you'll have a clear roadmap on exactly what you need to get done in 2026 to finish the year in the best shape of your life. Hope you enjoyed. I'll see you in the next one.
