Your Gut Will Heal Itself if You do These 3 Things

Lucas Wilhelm Hedenbäck says most gut problems come from a dysregulated nervous system stuck in fight-or-flight. His three-phase protocol starts by calming your system through meal practices and sleep, then rebuilds digestion with foods like apple cider vinegar and fermented foods, then gradually reintroduces diverse foods to build real resilience.

This was me a few years ago, bloated after every meal, holding on to water, brain fog, and barely any libido as a young man, despite eating perfectly clean whole foods, tracking every single macro, training 5 days a week. And this is me yesterday, eating whatever I want, training 1 to 2 times per week, and having rocket energy all day long and looking better than ever before. And all of this happened because I properly fixed my gut health. And in this video, I'm going to show you exactly how to heal your gut by doing these 3 simple things. That absolutely anyone can follow. This is exactly what I wish someone told me earlier when I started looking into fixing my gut. It would have saved me so much time, energy, money, and a lot of headspace. So let's get into it. I believe that almost every single gut problem, whether you're dealing with bloating, brain fog, food reactions, all of it comes down to one thing. So stick with me because by the end of this video, you'll know exactly what that one thing is. So here's the thing almost nobody talks about. Most people try to fix their gut issues at the surface level. Supplements, restrictive diets, antibiotics, antimicrobials. Detox protocols, but that's like clearing traffic of a broken road for one day. Tomorrow, the traffic comes right back because the road is still broken. And I genuinely believe almost every gut issue is an upstream effect of one broken system, and that is your nervous system. And in the next few minutes, I'm going to show you exactly how to fix it in 3 steps. So before you can fix anything in your gut, you have to answer one question: is your body even in a state where healing is possible? Because here's the thing, most people are trying to heal their gut whilst their body is actively Working against them, and they usually don't have any idea about this. You see, your nervous system controls whether your body is in fight or flight or rest and digest. And here's the part that matters. You physically cannot digest, absorb, or repair properly while you're in a stressed state. Your body deprioritizes digestion the second it thinks it's under threat. It doesn't care how good the food is on your plate. It doesn't care how clean it is. And this is exactly why the same food, the same supplements, and the same protocol works perfectly for one person and does absolutely nothing for another. It was never just about the input. It's about the state your body is in. was receiving the inputs. So if that's true, then the question becomes, what's actually feeding the stress response every single day without you even realizing it? And it's usually not dramatic stuff. It's rushed eating, eating whilst you're distracted, working, scrolling, chronic undereating, overtraining, poor sleep, constant stimulation from your phone and screens. And none of those feel like it's a big deal in isolation. And that's exactly why most people miss them. Nobody stops to think that eating lunch at their desk between meetings is stressing their gut. But your body doesn't know the difference between a deadline and a threat. It reacts the same way. And all of these things keep your nervous system wired around the clock. And this is what creates the problem. And once you understand this, the fix for phase 1 is pretty simple. It's actually most likely the opposite of everything you've been told to buy or to take. And it looks like this: eat calmly, sit down, no screens, get morning sunlight, Walk, do some breathwork before meals, prioritize your sleep, reduce overtraining. That's it. Calming your nervous system before you try to fix anything else. None of this costs any money. None of it is a supplement. It's the exact opposite of what the gut health industry is trying to sell you. And if this is making sense so far, please stick with me because phase 2 is where we actually start rebuilding. So once your nervous system calms down, your gut still isn't fixed. Because years of stress have actually broken down specific parts of your digestive system. So here's what's actually broken: low stomach acid, which means your body can't properly break down protein or kill off bad bacteria in your food; sluggish bile flow, which means fats don't get digested properly and toxins don't clear the way they should; poor motility, meaning food moves through your gut too slowly or too fast. This is a big driver of the bloating and the irregularity people are dealing with And a depleted microbiome where the good bacteria that are supposed to be doing a huge chunk of your digestion for you just aren't there in the numbers that they're supposed to be. If they're supposed to be trillions, they're millions. And here's the problem: you can't rebuild any of this by just taking a pill. You have to rebuild the system the same way you'd rebuild anything that's been broken for years. I like to think about someone that is recovering from a tore ACL. You don't go from crutches straight to sprinting. You rebuild in stages. First mobility, then walking, then strength, then jogging, then long jogs, and then Then running, and then eventually you're back to sprinting. Your gut works exactly the same way. You don't go from years of damage to eating anything you want just overnight. That is exactly how you will make sure that you will start back on square one. You rebuild your stomach acid, your bile, and microbiome progressively, not all at once. That is the key. So what does that actually look like day to day? Well, here's exactly what I do. Apple cider vinegar before meals to support stomach acid. Bitter foods or something like beetroot to support bile flow. Collagen-rich foods to support the gut lining. Fermented foods introduced slowly to start rebuilding the microbiome. And proper spacing between the meals so your gut can actually finish digestion before the next round shows up. Your gut is like a washing machine. You don't put in clothes, put on a program, and then 30 minutes later you put in another pair of underwear or another t-shirt. No, you put on the program, you let it run, And when it's done, you throw in the next batch. That's exactly how digestion works as well. So keep it simple. You don't need to understand every single enzyme and pathway involved. You just need to do these basic things consistently. The third part of this is optimizing the system. And here's where almost everyone gets it wrong. Even people who do phase 1 and phase 2 correctly. The mistake is staying restrictive forever because they think feeling better means they're healed. It doesn't. Feeling better means that the load on your system has been reduced. It doesn't mean you've rebuilt your capacity. Real healing isn't staying small and restricted for the rest of your life. It's rebuilding the capacity to handle real life again. Because if you're staying restrictive for too long, symptoms will just get worse and worse with time because you're continuing to downregulate your acid microbiome and bile. How do you actually know when you're ready to expand, and how do you do it without ending up right back where you started? One food at a time. Small amounts paired with a stable meal you already tolerate well, built up gradually. This is where diversity and resilience comes in. The goal was never a perfectly restricted diet forever. The goal is a gut that can handle restaurants, travel, and stress without falling apart on you. You don't have 30 separate gut problems— bloating, brain fog, low energy, poor sleep— whatever it is for you, you have one over Loaded system, and everything you're dealing with downstream is just a symptom of that one thing. And this is the part that changed absolutely everything for me personally, as well as more than a hundred entrepreneurs I've worked with over the years to help them fix their gut for good. Let's take Charles as an example. When he came to me, he had spent twenty to thirty thousand on detox protocols, practitioners, naturopaths, programs, and supplements. But he still got bloated after every single meal and had brain fog that didn't allow him to. think clearly. He got diagnosed with IBS, hyperthyroidism, and was told he needed to be on meds for the rest of his life. And now, just 90 days after fixing the root, all of his issues were completely gone. Or Tonda, who spent years frying his system in his high-demanding sales job. Hormones, sleep, gut, libido, everything was a mess. 4 months into the Superman Protocol, and he was in the best physical and mental shape of his life. And this is not magic. This is what happens when you give your body the right circumstances to thrive. And remember I said almost everything comes down to one thing. This is it. Your nervous system, calmed and rebuilt properly, is what lets everything else— digestion, absorption, hormones, energy— actually work. So if you've tried everything and nothing has worked, I want to show you exactly how I build this out for your specific situation. You can check the first link in the description to have a free strategy call where we will understand your exact bottleneck situation and build out a clear game plan to fix your root problems. Of course, there's a lot more nuance to this depending on your specific situation, whether it's histamine, SIBO, parasites, or bloating that shows up after very specific foods. And that's exactly what we map out on this call. So if you're tired of patching the same broken road over and over again, let's actually fix it for good. The link for that is below. And if you've ever wondered how it looks to fix your nervous system more in depth, then make sure to watch this next video here where I go in detail on exactly how to regulate it with a busy and demanding life and without adding even more things on your already full plate.
