In this brief interview, the interviewee recounts the quirky origins of their interest in playing guitar. Their first memory stems from watching a scene in the film The Mighty Ducks where characters sing "We Are the Champions" around a campfire. Inspired, they used a toy lacrosse stick to mimic playing while listening to Queen on a cassette tape. This imaginative play continued until their mother took them to a music store. There, the interviewee was drawn to a flashy Flying V electric guitar, but their mother steered them toward a modest acoustic nylon‑string guitar, which the interviewee initially dismissed as inferior.

What inspired you to play guitar? Right. Let's start there. Like, you know, weirdly enough, like, my first memory of it was, like, seeing that scene in the Mighty Ducks where they're just singing We Are the Champions around. Around the campfire. And I had, like, this, like, toy lacrosse stick that I was watching the movie. I was like, yeah, that's cool. And I would, like, put on, like. I think I put on, like, the Queen. I had, like, recorded it so I could listen to, like, the Queen stuff on, like, a cassette tape. And I would, like, jump around on the couch with the lacrosse stick, like, pretending I was playing guitar, until finally my mom was like, all right, let's go get this kid a guitar. We went into the guitar store, and I'm. I'm looking at, like, the Flying V, and I'm like, yeah, that one. And. And she's like, no, this acoustic one. Nylon over here. And I'm like, oh, that thing sucks.
