In this short panel, speakers emphasize that songwriting is the most critical factor for an independent artist’s success. They advise constantly writing better songs, never being satisfied with current work, and persisting through creative blocks. While acknowledging the importance of performance, recording, and promotion, they argue that without strong songs, all other efforts are futile. Additionally, they stress creating music from the heart rather than following trends, asserting that authentic, personal expression is the only truly original path.
