A guitarist explains they write songs to play guitar better, not because they're a virtuoso. They focus on their own compositions rather than mastering other styles. Derek works the same way: creative over technically perfect.
That's funny. That's funny. But I'm. I was the same way. It is nasty. But I was writing songs because it helped me play guitar. Like, I've never been a guitar player to be like, oh, I'm gonna go play. I don't know. Honestly, I just write songs, and then I play my songs really good, but I don't play much else really good, because that's not my style. And Derek is definitely the same way. He's more of a creative than he is some kind of, like, super talent guitar player.
