Spotify Followers Matter More Than Monthly Listeners #shorts

Mark Roberge says Spotify followers matter more than monthly listeners because they signal growth to the algorithm, expanding your Release Radar pool and playlist chances. He recommends messaging Instagram followers to ask where they stream, then sending a Spotify link and asking for a follow. Even one or two new followers daily adds up.

stop focusing so much on Spotify monthly listeners and focus more on Spotify followers. That count is what's going to indicate to the platform if you're growing or not, and then increase your Release Radar pool on each release. So if you're growing that follower count in between releases, each release is just going to naturally, organically be bigger. And the way to grow your follower count is to find out where your fans stream, right? Send them a DM on Instagram. Hey, thanks so much for the follow. Where do you stream music? Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, right? You want to find out where they stream. If they stream on Spotify, perfect. Then from there, send them the link. Hey, 'Have you heard our latest release yet? Here's the link,' right? 'Oh, I heard it. I love it.' Or, 'No, I haven't heard. I'm gonna check it out now.' Awesome. Get the feedback. Then from there, 'Hey, do us a huge favor. Can you give us a follow? It really helps us big time,' right? Then from there, you're getting them to take that action, and a fan will, and that increased growth over time is going to start to compound and ensure that all of your releases start to really, really trigger that radio playlist ultimately, which will then, if it does well inside of the radio playlist, it'll go into the Discover Weekly. So that's what you really want to be focusing on and making sure that that follower count is just going up. And even if it's 1 to 2 a day, right, really make it an initiative to make sure that's going up. Because as you know, if you're not doing something to grow it, it doesn't really grow, right? There will be some organic growth, but on a regular basis, if you want to have it consistent, you have to put in the consistent work. And, you know, ultimately that's one of the features we put into Fanflowy that make sure that that gets automated where it's continuously asking these fans and followers to then do these actions because we're recognizing where they stream. So obviously if if they stream, uh, on Apple, we want them to favorite. If it's Spotify, we want them to follow. If it's on YouTube Music, we want them to subscribe, right? So we're always finding out where the fan streams, and then we're getting them to take those next actions so that we can then trigger the algorithmic side of these DSPs. So go out there, go do that.
