Stop Chasing Streams. Build Real Fans With the FAME Framework #shorts

Mark Roberge argues that playlist placements and streaming counts don't build lasting fan bases. His FAME framework tells artists to find fans, get their contact info, turn them into advocates, keep them engaged with consistent releases, and expand through word-of-mouth and live shows.

Stop chasing playlist ads, stop chasing streams. These are vanity metrics and they're not gonna build your fan base. Ultimately, you need to be finding real fans out there and then engaging them, having their information, getting their contact information, having the ability to then get them to take other actions and become your advocate so that now they're promoting you outside in the real world. Here at Make Art Music, that's our biggest focus, ensuring that all of the artists with our tools and our knowledge and all of our frameworks is focused on that.
Piece, right?
So we've created a framework called FAME, which is Find, Activate, right?
F-A-M-E, Maintain, E-Expand, FAME.
So Find, obviously very simple. We need to find fans that actually care about your music, people that actually give a shit, that are gonna listen to you, feel like they wanna be part of something, and ultimately join your community and be willing to give you their information. Activate, right? Now we're gonna activate them.
We're gonna capture their information. We're gonna get their name, phone number, email, location, preferred streaming platform. We're gonna get them into a community. We're gonna get them on your socials.
We're gonna get them to now become, you know, your biggest army, right? We want them to become an army member, digital army member, sharing your stuff, liking your posts, telling other people. They go to the cookout this summer, they're gonna play your music on the Bluetooth. You get in the car with them, hey, check out this band, I really like them. Check out this artist, I really like them.
They're gonna start basically promoting you outside in the real world. And maintain, right?
So now we gotta ensure that we have momentum and we're continuously engaging them with content and new releases. That's the biggest thing is making sure that you have releases that are coming out consistently and content and out of back catalog back that up. We want to make sure we're engaging them and staying right on— right in front of them. Um, and then expand. And now from here is to expand. We need to get them to become your— like I said, expand and get them to be your advocate. We need them telling everybody. We need them to be behind you at 100% and showing up to your shows, purchasing your merchandise, pre-saving that next release, telling everybody they know about that release.
And now that's where word of mouth spreads, and that's where you're going to have the increased attendance at your shows, increased pre-saves, increased, you know, algorithmic push now because now more people are there on the weekend of your release.
So these are all the things that we focus on.
