Marc Haine walks through why small business owners like Maureen resist going digital: no budget, no tech skills, fear customers won't adapt. But those same customers already use Uber Eats and DoorDash without hesitation.

Maureen's initial thoughts were that she doesn't have the budget or the technical skills to incorporate any kind of a digital platform. She feared that her regulars would not understand the change and that their service delivery would lose the charm that they were known for. Add to that, she didn't know if her customers would embrace a different way of doing business even though they were adept at using services like Uber Eats, DoorDash and SkipTheDishes for their ordering. And I know a lot of small and medium-sized businesses are holding themselves back, scared of what that might mean, afraid to lose what they have now for the uncertainty that change brings.
