Most leaders I talk to say that they have great communication. Where might they be dropping the ball?
Well, I love that conversation because I spend a lot of time in the communication lane. I think a couple items that come to mind is, and I'm a big fan of John C. Maxwell as an author. He writes a lot of great books on leadership. And one of my favorites back, it's probably 10, 12 years old now, but Everyone Communicates, Few Connect. So, I think number one, Obviously, if we're having a conversation like we are right now, there's a listening component that needs to occur and intently listening to what the other individual is saying and to be present. That's the other aspect, that distraction of texting or someone walking at the door. But right now, if we're spending the next 30 minutes one-to-one, you know, all hands on deck and I'm focused on you, my valued employee. So that's one for sure. And then connecting is really just better understanding what makes that individual tick.
