Empowerment The Key to Leadership and Success

There's a huge difference between delegation and empowerment. We all know that word delegate and that gets overused too. I hate the word. It means you tell somebody what to do or even how to do it. Anybody can do that. That doesn't make you a leader. That makes you a boss or a manager that barks orders, right? Instead, empowerment is all about recognizing talent in people, inspiring them, motivating them, showing them that they can do better, showing them that they can take on additional responsibility. And when they do, giving them incentives for— make mistakes. And instead of criticizing performance, saying, go out and do it the right way, it's all about building them up and showing them how they can do things better until they get it. And then recognizing that performance. And you got to do that all the time.
