I wanted to talk to you about something that you can do right now that will make all the difference in your customer's experience. Let's talk about something that is as simple as it is powerful. That's a warm welcome. First impressions are made in about the first 7 seconds. That's less time than it takes you to find out that you're still on mute on a Zoom call. So, what is a warm welcome? Well, let's break it down to like a recipe. 3 simple ingredients. The first ingredient is a genuine smile. A real smile, not the I'm faking it until I make it kind of smile. A genuine smile says, I am happy to see you without using words. People can actually feel it. It's the kind of smile that could melt the worst of any Monday. Number 2 is The personalized greeting. If you know their name, use it. People love hearing their name. If you don't, go with something friendly like, good morning! What can I do to make your day awesome today? Every time I would say something like that to somebody, right away I'd see them melt. Their smile would happen and it makes everything better. And then of course, you have to use positive body language. You have to stand tall. You have to get away from the device. Make eye contact. And please, for the love of God, don't cross your arms like you're auditioning for a role as a nightclub bouncer. You're about to be someone's first impression, so let's make it a really, really good one.
