Marc Haine uses Stephen Covey's lumberjack story from The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People to argue that maintaining your tools matters more than just using them. He walks through checklists, measurement devices, and servicing routines that keep you sharp and prevent failure.
You know, in his book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Stephen Covey recounts a story of a lumberjack. He's under time constraints to get the trees cut down. He's getting so frustrated by how hard the job is and how long it's taking. And somebody passing by suggested to him that he sharpens this. And the lumberjack responds that he has no time to sharpen this. He's got to get these trees cut. And so, when it comes to our props, We must take time to sharpen them. If we don't service our props, clean our props, and take care of our props, they will cause us more trouble and fail when we need them the most. So being able to create a checklist and measure device is the solution.
