Marc Haine explores Viktor Frankl's idea that the pause between stimulus and response is where freedom lives. Leaders who master that gap change their language, behavior, and how they show up for their teams.
With that awareness, we get a chance to teach leaders how to pause and actually understand their thinking.
So, what difference does that pause then make as far as their own personal awareness is when it comes down to the impact this is going to have on their language?
I wish I could know this man, Viktor Frankl. But there's a great quote by him and he says, between stimulus and response is a space.
And in that space is our ability to choose.
That might be the most important leadership thought of this century. This is where leaders without awareness have no space or little space. I'm stimulated and I'll respond. I'm upset, I'll get angry. But with awareness, we pause and expand our space.
