Short instructional clip by Sofia Richie advising creators (esp. wedding makeup/hair professionals) to optimize the first three seconds of reels using a visual hook: fast movement, cutting on action (e.g., touching/brushing hair, quick zooms), and recognizable overlays so viewers immediately identify and stop to watch.
First three seconds aren't optimized with a visual hook. And with a text hook, it's going to get scrolled past. The visual hook is me brushing our hair quickly moving to the next clip, adding in a zoom. So those first three seconds, there's a lot of movement. It's not just like stale, me standing there. You're cutting at those action steps. When I start to touch the hair, I cut it there like half a second. These action steps were a lot longer. In person is another one with the visual overlay brushing her hair. But I have the visual overlay did really well because it is someone that people already. People already know Sofia Richie. They already know that look. They already have that safe. When they see that, they're stopping. Because if it's something that you're seeing a lot, your client has already seen it. So when she sees it on your reel, she's going to stop, she's going to watch it because she identifies it.
