What’s Changing in Bridal Beauty in 2026 (and How to Stay Booked)

Marissa Brennan (Marissa Grace) presents a YouTube video of industry predictions for bridal hairstyling and makeup in 2026 aimed at helping pros stay booked. She argues the biggest shifts are: SEO-driven visibility across platforms (Instagram posts now feed Google), more client pushback/public clips on social media, authenticity and UGC-style content over highly polished imagery, rise of silent followers, brides being picky (not cheap), growth of AI-generated inspiration images and the need to call out unachievable AI looks, AI and automation (ChatGPT, ManyChat) as time-savers, personal branding/face-forward content, voice notes as a preferred sales channel, potential attrition of pros who don’t adapt, softened policies and greater flexibility, and tighter photographer timelines. She offers tactical advice (SEO keywords: location/look/trending, respond in comments with keywords, film bride reactions for UGC reviews, offer DM/voice-note options in inquiry forms, consider assistants/second stylists, accept Venmo tips) and references her paid offerings (Bridal Boss Academy, Bridal Printer Socials).

We are currently in one of the biggest industry shifts as a bridal hairstylist and bridal makeup artist since 2020. When it comes to your content, servicing clients, how you're showing up, and booking brides, a lot is changing. For today's video, I'm going to cover 102026 industry predictions that I'm seeing with everything outdated that you want to leave in 2025 and after polling my audience of 86,000 followers, what you guys are seeing in the industry that are trending as well. Disclaimer these are my predictions. It's what I'm see market what I'm hearing from my hundreds of students all over the world and it's based off of my expertise of being in the wedding industry for over a decade. Please take everything with a huge pink grain Himalayan salt. Take what resonates, trash the rest. I'm Marissa Grace. I spent a decade in the wedding industry as a bridal hairstylist, scaling my business from only $6,000 a year all the way up to half a million in just three years without a team doing weddings without me. And now I've helped over 400 bridal pros do the same. Starting off strong with the first prediction with your content, the way to get visible in 2026 is going to be through SEO. If you haven't already, you need to dial in your SEO. SEO is Search Engine optimization. So imagine when you go on Google, you type something in to search and then you get a page with a bunch of different options. You want to show up there where your bride is searching within Instagram, TikTok, all over social media, Pinterest, Google, YouTube, they all use SEO and specific algorithms for each going to be speaking specifically to the Instagram algorithm, which has gotten extremely smart when it comes to serving up what your bride is actually searching to the people who want to find it. If you haven't already, maybe you've noticed over On Instagram and TikTok, you can only limit up to five hashtags, whereas before it used to be 30 hashtags. Hashtags used to be a way that you could get visible and I still think it's a great way to categorize your content to be found by the right people. But Instagram has limited the search to only five hashtags. So when you go to post an Instagram, what you post, their algorithm is going to pick up all of these different signals that you feed it. So it's going to pick up signals in what you talk about in the piece of content the text that you put on the screen, if you do a voiceover, what you're actually saying, it's going to pick up anything in the caption and even within the comments. So you want to get intentional and strategic so you can start showing up where your brides are getting married so they can find you. And even better, Instagram now integrates with Google search, meaning your posts on Instagram can now show up when somebody is searching for that kind of content on Google. So, for example, let's just say your bride goes over to Google and searches simple low bun wedding hairstyles. Your posts can now show up in that search, meaning she can now find you and your content can have a longer shelf life outside of Instagram. This is amazing. When you post, just remember these three different things. Location, look, and trending. When we're talking about location, you want to integrate ways to talk about your city and the wedding venues that you want to work at within your post itself. The the caption. And even when you're responding to comments, the look, what is your signature and how can you describe that in your content, caption and comments trending? What is she saving? What are brides bringing to trials, bringing to the wedding day? What are bridesmaids showing you? What are those looks that they're showing you and how can you describe that within your content? So here's how you can use that to optimize your SEO within your content, within your videos. Bake in the location, the look in descriptive terms, what's trending? So here's a post that I did where I talked about what was trending at the time. And I was doing that look, which was the Sophia Richie midi clean bun. I talked about it in the voiceover, I talked about it in the caption. If people were commenting on it, I would make sure in my comments I was bringing it back to keywords such as clean, low, bun, Sofia Richie. And that's why this post was able to go extremely viral. Always bring it back to what's trending, what the look is and the location. You can really do this in an easy conversational way, but just keep those things top of mind. So now your post can show up where you want it in front of your ideal brides. And something that I don't really hear anybody talking about is within the comments. Again, you give Instagram signals of these keywords and whatever somebody is searching within that, they're going to show your content to them. Okay, so if somebody's commenting to you, the low effort is going to be they're commenting in emojis, which is fine, but if you're responding back in emojis, that's not really intentional or strategic. So instead respond with SEO in it so somebody responds just emojis. You can say something like I love working at insert the location and your city. It really has the best getting ready suites for bridal parties. That's SEO optimized, that's being strategic. You're feeding Instagram more signals to get your content visible. Prediction number two, clients are going to be clapping back on social media a lot more. We saw this in 2025 and everybody has the ability to pull out their smartphone, film a 60 second reel in the hopes of going viral for their five minutes of fame. And that might be at the expense of doing reviews of bridal make makeup of bridal hair that they necessarily didn't like or that they're just wanting to post to go viral. We all remember the viral TikTok video of the girl who washed her bridal makeup off. Personally I thought her makeup was great and she never said anything to the makeup artist, but you can tell that there was just this underlying intention where she kind of just wanted to go viral. I just, I didn't feel good intention with that. And we also remember the hair by Chrissy. Recent drama with the girl who spent $4,000 on her hair extensions got charged I a $3,000 hair by Chrissy fee and Chrissy only touched her head for like 10 seconds. I think a lot more brides are going to be wanting to show up online like they want to get on TikTok, they want to be doing vlogs and their wedding is usually a big place for them to start in that journey because it's something that a lot of people love to follow and they have a lot of content to post about it. So I do feel like they will be documenting that journey and I think for us it's super important to really take a step back and think to ourselves, how am I showing up for my clients? How am communicating with my clients to make sure that they're getting the best experience at their trials, within client emails and on the wedding day. And just like it's been super popular for us to clap back at clients for. This is why I charge a travel fee. And it's like you walking up the stairs or charge your worth and then you see clients commenting on it. I feel like there's going to be a huge rise of brides clapping back and reposting those reels and having a response to them. So if you are somebody who is posting that kind of content when you're still servicing brides. For me personally, I'm not a fan of it. I've never been a fan of that kind of content. I think it's only going to bring in hair stylists and makeup artists who want to feel seen in it. It's not going to get you booking more brides. But I think you need to prepare yourself for clients going back on social media and posting a response video to that. And hey, what if instead of trying to build a following off of like making fun of brides or talking about your travel fee, and this is why I charge xyz, what if instead you just thought, hey, how can I make my bride feel good about herself? Because in today's world the Google review is a TikTok online. So what if instead you thought to yourself, what are ways that I can get a bride to go on her TikTok to go on her Instagram and post a real raw, authentic review about my services? That's in a good light because your reputation can be Destroyed by a 60 second reel just like that. And I don't want that for you. Because also we remember the makeup artist who got kicked out of a wedding. Yeah, her reputation got destroyed overnight. And that brings me right into my third prediction for 2026, which is authenticity on social media over perfection. We saw that in 2024. We saw that in 20. And it's going to continue trending because we were on the rise of AI. Everybody is looking for real, authentic lifestyle kind of content. We want to feel like we're in the room with you. The content that I see outperforming in our industry is lifestyle content. I call this UGC content for the bridal industry. UGC content is user generated content. And typically influencers who are working with brands will create this kind of content for ads. Or let's just say you're working with skims and skims is paying you so they can post an ad. They're going to have you pull up your phone in that outfit and give a review on it and test it out and try it on. We are much more likely to trust that nowadays because we've lost trust with the traditional marketing of the brand telling us to buy something of the brand showing off their product. No, we want to hear it from the real people who are actually wearing those products. And it's the same thing with your brides. They want to hear from real brides who have worn that makeup, who have worn that hairstyle. What is it look like? How did it last? Because I think there's this mistrust, especially with the Gen Z brides where they don't genuinely trust the traditional like screenshots of like you're the not review. No, they want to hear it from the source. And it's the Google review going into 2026 and beyond. Pop up your phone in front of your bride when you're doing her makeup, when you're doing her hair, and when you're about to hand her over that mirror, you make sure that you're filming that to get her reaction. This is your Google review and it will outperform any kind of screenshot of review that you can have. They are so over just a flat photo because they want to hear the authenticity, the reality, the bride's real feedback. So that way they can trust you. So that's the kind of content that's going to outperform. So if you are not filming yourself at weddings, girl, what are you doing in 2026? You're becoming a tripod warrior. Okay, I have dozens of videos on my YouTube channel where you can become a tripod warrior. If you want to learn how to film yourself, how to edit videos, you want to head into bridal printer socials, I'll link it for you down below because is the kind of content that you want to be posting that will actually book you more brides and land brides in your inbox. The fourth prediction I have is she's silently stalking you on social media. I saw this post here by pretty little marketer that I absolutely loved where she talked about the rise of the silent follower. Meaning somebody is following you, but they're not necessarily engaging with your content. They're not liking, they're not commenting, they're just silently watching. When they're ready to inquire, they will. When they want to buy a course or something like that, they'll go to your link in bio and they'll stalk it out themselves. If have noticed that your engagement is down, you're not really getting as many likes, but your views are up and maybe your saves are up. Those are more those silent metrics because I feel as a general population we're all a little burned out because there is more content to binge than ever before. Brain rot is real. Okay, so likes aren't even measured the same way that they used to be. Adam Mosseri even went on Instagram and said that they prioritize sends per reach. They don't really prioritize likes anymore as the top metric that you should be tracking sends per reach is going to be how many people are sending your content to the DMs, whether that's their own DM. A lot of people will send your content to their own DMS and DM themselves to kind of go back and rewatch it later. But let's not panic because she's still there and she's still watching. So this is your little nudge to stop focusing on the likes, the views, and focus on connection. How can you get creative to get her to want to engage, right? When it comes to stories, we're much more likely to engage with something that's like a photo of your dog, a photo of your meat meal, a photo of a movie or documentary you're watching because it's lower effort for us than something that's straight business. So how can you infuse that and sandwich it into your stories that are selling your services right for your content? Leave them with some calls to action to save it. This is a silent engagement, but it still gets them taking an action or think of conversation. How can I start a conversation in the comments? And one of my favorite things on your stories consistently every single week, do the question box feature. Because this will start training your audience to want to engage with you and make it fun. When you do this, you're inviting them to have a conversation with you, to talk with you. And then they'll get used to it and you'll start training them to want to engage and take them off the sidelines of a silent follower. My fifth prediction for 2026 is that brides aren't cheap, they're just picky who they go with. So if you're falling into that trap of getting stuck in that spiral scroll of people saying, oh, brides want to do their own makeup in 2026 or they don't want to rates because of the recession. My girl, we're fear mongering. Love you so much, but we need to relax, okay? Because there are brides out there who will happily pay $2800 for Bridal Glam, $3800 for Bridal Glam when you know how to sell it. They are picky with who they go with. Because I've seen a couple different posts where people are talking about how brides want to do their own makeup. But here's what I say to that. When I went into the comment section and I saw real people commenting on it, the number one trend that I saw was they don't trust that they're going to get the look they want, so they would rather do it themselves. It's not that they don't want to pay somebody. It's that they don't trust that they're going to get that look that's on your profile or the one that they have in their head that they're envisioning. And what that stems from is back in 2020, when we had that boom of weddings, everyone was a bridesmaid, right? Because everybody was getting married and likely she was with, you know, maybe somebody who was more of a beginner and she didn't get that great of a makeup look of a hairstyle. So she has some distrust with our industry. So your portfolio needs to showcase bar minimum for your brides. If your portfolio is jam packed with more images of you than clients, that's going to be a trust issue. If your portfolio on Instagram doesn't have one dialed in signature look, that's going to create a trust issue. If you're showing more mannequin work or you're only posting pro photographer photos, that's going to create a client trust issue because she doesn't see the transformation she gets when she hires you. So she's going to rather do it herself or she's going to go and happily pay somebody else who, yeah, might be $1,000 than you, but she knows she's going to get that look. So I personally don't believe and I don't buy into the narrative that brides don't want to hire bridal makeup artists or bridal hairstylists and they'd rather do it themselves. I think we need to get better at building up that trust so they see that, yes, when you hire me, you will get this look. When I first started out in 2023, my bride's biggest fear was will they show up on my wedding day? And we've tackled that. Now the biggest fear for our brides in 2026 and beyond is will I actually get the look that I want? And they need visual confirmations of this every. So here's the takeaway for you. Ask yourself, how can you build up more trust with your Instagram portfolio before she inquires with you? Give it that audit. And that leads me into prediction number six, which is the rise of AI inspiration generated photos. I know you've seen it. I know your clients are showing you it in your chair and they have no idea that these are AI generated photos that they're pulling off Pinterest that are floating around on TikTok. And I think moving into 2026 and beyond, we're going to see a lot more of those looks that are just not achievable. They're not real people. And here's how I think you can start handling it. To get ahead, you want to start showcasing in your content why this look isn't achievable. Bringing awareness to it that, yes, this is AI, because your clients don't understand that. They just see this and they're like, I want to look like this girl. And you're like, girl, Nobody looks like that girl because she's fake. And so I think we need to take on more responsibility of showcasing what's real and what is fake because their eye isn't aware of that, but we are. So that's how you can actually stand out and shine as an expert. Expert be the one who showcases real in an AI world. And this hints back to my third prediction with authenticity is everything on social media because we are in such an AI world. And briefly, just talking about AI, you can use AI to integrate with your business in 2026 to get so much more done. And that's where automation and AI can be your new bff. One thing that I think is actually really cool is on ChatGPT, you can actually search for wedding vendors. I've had a lot of clients tell me that their brides are sometime finding them on ChatGPT. You can go in there and search bridal makeup artist near me, bridal hairstylist near me, and it'll show you a list of people in your area. If you are showing up within Google search, it kind of like pulls from all those search engines. And ChatGPT is one of my favorite things to use as like a personal assistant can help you create content, it can help you look through different tech software. If you're setting up things like one of my favorite CRMs, Dubsado, and you're like, I don't know what to do. You can actually like screenshot whatever's going on on Dubsado that you're kind of stuck on or any systems you're setting up, bring that over in a chatgpt and say, hey, act as a Dubsado expert and help me set this up. Give it the example of like, what you want to do and what's not working and it'll help walk you through that. Literally love to use it for that. Another AI integration you can use to save time is ManyChat. So your bride can comment a keyword, she can reply A keyword to one of your stories and you can send her a link to either binge more of your content or send her an inquiry form. This reduces so much friction and you can get way more inquiries this way because link in bio is dead. Okay. And if you want a full tutorial to set up many chat and key word triggers for 2026, that's going to be inside bridal printer socials. I'll walk you through every single step. Now, moving on to my seventh prediction. You are your personal brand. Okay. You cannot hide your face anymore. We want authenticity again. Going back to the bride for today, the Gen Z bride that we're moving into. She wants to connect with you. She's got major trust issues. So we trust humans. We don't trust just something at face value, Just pretty hair, just pretty makeup. She wants to connect with you behind the person who's doing those looks. The person who' actually showing up on her wedding day. Right. So you can't hide from socials anymore. I'm so sorry. And I'll never forget, one time I was doing a bridal party, I'm doing a bridesmaid's hair, and she was like, obsessed with the bun that I was doing. And she's like, are you available for my wedding day? And I checked and I wasn't available. And she's like, oh, I had to cancel my bridal hair stylist. And I'm like, okay, give me that tea. What happened? And she tells me she hired this wedding team based off of a referral from somebody. She didn't really look at their socials again. It was just a referral. So she felt confident. She hires them for hair and makeup. Then after she hires them, she goes to their social media, save photos for what she's looking for. And to her horror, she sees nothing. That was new. Everything was from, like, years ago. The person hadn't posted in literal years and everything was outdated. And she got stranger danger scary vibes and she decided to cancel because they didn't have an Instagram presence. She was nervous. No social media presence, not showing your face, hiding behind pretty hair, makeup, wanting to see, be mysterious and only post a few times. Yeah, Stranger danger vibes for 2026. We don't want it. Like, imagine you're on a dating app and you go to stalk his socials and you find nada. Nothing. Are you going to go out and go and meet up with this person and go on a date? Probably not. You're like, no, thank you. They feel the same way. So stop hiding from social media and let 2026 be the year that you finally get it to work for you. Okay, this one's my favorite. My eighth prediction for 2026 is that voice notes are the 1 number new sales calls you are still forcing every single one of your brides to get on a sales call or a consult call. My girl, I fear little Miss Gen Z is going to run so fast from you. They are so smart and they do not buy the same way. Let 2026 be the year that you get flexible with how brides are booking you in your sales process. Because if you force me on a sales call, I will actually rather die than get on it. I've spent $6,000, dropped $20,000 just from voice noting somebody. In fact, when I did a rebr year, I inquired with my branding girl and on her inquiry form it said, how do you prefer communication? And I believe I put like DM or text or something like that. And she asked me for my Instagram handle. So as soon as I sent that, she sends me a voice note over on Instagram and I was like, oh my God, this is so cool. I love this. We voice note back a couple different times and she's just asking me general questions to learn about my project. Nothing like salesy or weird or icky or anything like that. And by the end of that, I signed seal, delivered so fast and spent $6,000. I didn't feel pressured in any way. And that's what I feel like a lot of people are seeing with sales calls. They know it's not a console call. They know at the end of it, they're going to get sold to. And I feel like they're so aware of it that they kind of NFL stiff arm it at any cost. And again, some people still do love it, but I think what you want to do is give them the option. So in your inquiry form, update and add a section where it has a dropdown menu that says how do you prefer communication? Email, call, DM or text, and make sure you're giving a space where they can put in their Instagram handle. If she says she prefers DM or text, go over to her Instagram, shoot her a little voice note, and be personal because nobody else is doing that. You're going to stand out. My ninth prediction is I feel like we're going to see a mass exodus of bridal hairstylists and makeup artists leaving the industry because they are so burned out from 2025. They notice that shift. They don't Want to adapt to the shift and the way that the Gen Z brides are. Raise your hand if you've noticed this shift. Raise your hand if you're an elder millennial who just wants to do your art. That's not going to cut it in 2026. You need a social media presence. You need to be flexible with your boundaries for Gen Z and you need to adapt to this shift because your 2026 brides are not your 2020 brides. You need to have a sales process in place and I have an entire YouTube video that you can binge on that exact topic so you can go in deeper. But I think the stylist and makeup artist that joined in the 20 are kind of got that gold rush where brides were booking instantly. They could show up. Bare minimum on social media is just posting before and after looks. And now we've stabilized out. So now you need a marketing and a sales strategy. It's not that brides are slower to book, it's that we've stabilized and we've gone back to normal. And the pros who don't adapt are going to be the ones who unfortunately aren't going to make it. And I feel like a lot of pros felt that really hard, hard and felt the shift in 2025 with brides that are slower to book, harder to fill their books because they didn't do that work from 2020 to 2025, which is putting the marketing in place, updating their branding, learning how to sell in their content, getting comfortable filming themselves, because that's just the reality. Those are the pieces that you need to have a successful business in 2026 and beyond. If you do want help with the sales process, the booking process, even elevating your website to a luxury branded one within a weekend. I walk you through all of that and give you templates, DM scripts, emails, website templates that will help save you thousands because you don't have to hire a designer. I already did that. You can find all that in Bridal Boss Academy. I'll link it down for you below. And that leads me into my 10th prediction, which is going to be we need to soften our policies and boundaries in 2020 with that big influx of weddings. We really got hard on our boundaries because everybody was pushing on because maybe we were attracting in brides who weren't ideal for us. We were kind of running with the gold rush. Right. But moving into 2026 and beyond, that's not really going to cut it with those brides. It's a massive turnoff for the Gen Z Bride and the 2026 Brides and beyond to be super strict and not flexible on your boundaries. Always having that at the forefront. Like she emails you excited about her wedding, Ms. Gen Z's all about the vibes and you just hit her with the first email of, please note with like a 10 page paragraph of all your booking policies, boundaries, early morning start fees and she's like, whoa, I just want to book with you. They want to know that you can be a little bit flexible because let's just say you're charging an early morning start fee for before 7am and somebody else that she's comparing you to doesn't charge that well, she's probably going to go with that person. So something that you can do is start working with assistance, start working with second artists, second stylist to help cut down on that morning start time. Because yes, I don't want you cutting back on your service time. But I think it's time to think outside of the box and think, okay, how can I make this more seamless for my bride? One of my clients is actually bringing on an assistant with her for every single wedding she's doing. She's adding it into her packages and she's able to sell it to her brides of how much time they're going to be able to save, how they don't need to wake up earlier because she's always going to have this assistant with her on every single wedding. How amazing is that? I'm obsessed. I also think getting lenient with trials before booking is going to be big. Yeah, because they've been scarred as a bridesmaid. Okay. So some, not all, are going to want to do a trial before booking and there's nothing wrong with that. Why not let her book a trial and then she's likely going to book another one before her wedding. I think it's time to look at all your policies and really evaluate. Okay, do I need to put every little thing in there? Do these apply to every single bride? What are your true non negotiables and what are some things that you can be flexible on? Okay, this is my 11th prediction. I thought I only had had 10, but here's a bonus for you which is that timing is going to be crunched down by photographers. This is something that I keep hearing in my communities and I experienced it myself as well. Have you ever noticed that they'll leave like a massive gap for when we're finished to when she gets dressed of about an Hour because they think that we're gonna run behind. And then your bride is walking around for like an hour with nothing to do, and she's like, I could have slept in longer. And then they're looking at us as if it's our problem, but really it was a photographer. Because that's how we make our timelines. So we need to be diligent, double checking with our bride on the timeline of, okay, when do you need to get dressed? And have already by that time. And tell me down below, have you been seeing that with your weddings that you worked in? 25. All right, now let's rapid fire things that are giving her the ick. It's outdated. We're leaving it in 2025. Again, these are my personal opinion, holding your hand when I say, this is why I charge travel fees. You walking up the stairs carrying all your luggage kind of right reels. I'm sorry. This is for makeup artists. This is for stylists. It's not going to get your bride to be like, I want to hire her. Let me pay her more. I don't see it that way. She's going to be like, okay. It's going to make her feel bad about herself. Let's be so for real. No hiring any and everyone to take care of the bridal party bridesmaid. Hair and makeup trauma is real, my friends, and we need to take steps to alleviate that. Believe me, I've done it. Where you're in a pickle and you need to hire somebody to help with this bridal party because she just added on fire five additional people and nobody's available. So you'll take anyone. I get it. But let's be a little bit pickier. Let's try to pick somebody who is up to par and on our standards of what we offer, because it's a reflection of you, and that's your reputation. You got to leave this one in 2025, which is not allowing Venmo for tips and saying cash only or forcing gratuity on every single invoice. That one gets me every time, girl. We're going into 2026. Nobody carries cash anymore. Get a cutie little stand that has your Venmo with a code can set up on your station so she can easily be like, boop and tip you. She doesn't want to feel like a number. She wants to connect. So if you have a team, make sure you're showcasing that team. She wants to know who she's working with. Otherwise she's going to think she's working with you and when she doesn't she's going to be upset. Okay. And rapid fire. What I'm seeing from you that you said could be trending in 2026 these are their predictions everyone. Like this one the most smaller bridal parties either bride or bride plus maid of honor and one other another I live for that. They're seeing so many blowout style requested looks. Less is more. They said brides aren't paying for the bridal party as much. Don't love that one. Brides are more willing to pay for the second stylist in order to use the venue suite. See, I told you whatever fear you have of hiring assistance, let it go. She'll pay for it. Oh and this one my prediction is everything is unconventional brides. Okay let me know which one was your favorite, which one you're going to be testing out in 2026 and what you're leaving in 2020 25. Cuz girl, I can't wait to see you thrive. I want you feeling empowered walking into your 2026 era and I'll see you in the next one. Bye.
