EP 127: No Clue How To Accomplish Your GOALS? The Only Way I Know How To Set Goals...
21 Sept 2022 · 50 min
Motivational podcast episode by Mark Evans DM about setting audacious goals even when you have no clear plan for achieving them. Using personal stories (growing up poor, seeing mansions, buying a Rolls Royce, flying private, chartering yachts) he argues that physically exposing yourself to what you want, visualizing it, surrounding yourself with higher-performing peers, and treating expenses as investments will pull big goals closer and create the habits that realize them. He also emphasizes giving, normalizing generosity, and pushing listeners to write down and publicly commit to bold targets.

Welcome to the Making of A dm. You have no clue how to accomplish your goals. That might be a good thing. We're about to find out. So with that said, let's get started.
What I know and how I did it to discover freedom There ain't no question Mark Kevin's when he stepping the doubt, he's closing deals. Time to tell them what the DM stand for. I'm a deal maker, a deal maker. But I'm not just a deal maker. I'm a dream maker.
Hey there, it's your boy, Mark Evans, dm. Welcome to another show of the making of A dm. That's right, a deal maker that you are of your life and most importantly, a dream maker. Hope you're having an absolutely amazing day. We're getting tons of responses from last week's show, so I just want to say thank you so much. If you're brand new to the Making of A dm, welcome. I'm your boy, Mark Evans, dm. I've been a deal maker my whole life. I didn't know it was for the first half of my life, but there's a lot of cool things that we can do once we understand what we're capable of if you're been around for a long time. Thank you so much. I appreciate you. I know I get excited and I scream and yell. Not yelling at you, I'm yelling with you because this is how we feel inside. We're ready to push, drive, create, accomplish and succeed at new levels. And I'll be the voice to scream and hopefully you can pull some insight from that and some power and strength. I. I genuinely sitting here in the treehouse in Kirtland Hills, Ohio, just got a pretty cool car I ordered, which I'm excited about. And I just want to let you know I care so much about you, the listener, because there's so many people that I don't want to talk to. There's so many people that I just can't talk to. They're negative. They think the world's against them. They're not chasing a dream, a goal. They've given up. They've just settled. And that's not what I stand for in any way, shape or form. I want to go down with a fight. I want to accomplish goals that I never even thought were possible. And that's what I want to talk to you today about. Before I do, if you've been listening to the show and you've got any value in this ever, please share the show on social media. Please tag me at Mark Evans dm. And please, if you get a chance, hop over into the platform that you're listening to, leave. A five star review takes two minutes of your life. If you want to help me, I don't need money, I don't need recognition. But you sharing a story review, like, what about the show that really made an impact in your life, if you made any money, made any new connections, got more clarity or any of that and above, I would love for you to share that. Why? Because there's someone sitting at home right now searching for a podcast show in a dark time or looking for something new to grow. And when you do these posts and you share your comment, what happens? It gets pushed up in the algorithm systems. Someone, somewhere, maybe could get introduced to this world that we live in. Positivity, growth, pushing forward, excitement, knowing that we're learning, investing in ourself. And all that because you took two minutes of your life to give us a shout out, let us know what you think. It really is important to me and in a selfish way, I have bad days just like we all do. I love going over there and reading the five star reviews, listening what, what you got going on, who you are. I might even reach out to you if, if, if it's visible of how to. I can tell you this, it means so much to me when I get that. So don't think it's like, oh, it's not, it's no big deal or whatever. It's a huge deal and it's all I ask of you. I don't want your money. I don't need your money. I don't, I don't need any other recognition. You don't need to do it. Like that would be huge for not just me, but to connect with more people. So if you do that. Thank you so much. Today's show, like I said, I want to talk about something I've been thinking about a lot as I sit here in this crazy $50,000 tree house, which is absolutely wild, overlooking this massive ravine in the middle of the woods by my house, walking distance, just hanging out like it's. I'm very, very, very fortunate to be in this position. I'm not lucky. I busted my ass to be here. I can waste money. There's some people would say, oh, 50,000, that's a waste. You could do this, you could do that, whatever. That's on you, not me. I can get in here and hang out and, you know, clear my head. I don't need to have music in here I can listen to the birds chirping, the squirrels running around, wrestling around in the, you know, the, the, the brush or the leaves or whatever and see the deer and turkey and foxes and all that. It's really to me this, I like to come here and just connect with myself. And today's show is about that I want to share with you something that I see a lot of people and this is me too as well still today, connecting about how to accomplish your goals. So let me talk about this. So you probably have no clue how to accomplish your goals to the level you're capable of. That's okay. I've shared the story many times about the time I got off the bus. I shared it last week actually, and I've shared it many times. But I've always wanted to buy a mansion. A mansion, right. That was like my first dream. I was like, you know, a nice car and a mansion. A Rolls Royce and a mansion to be exact. And I got off a bus, I was paid money to be at this charity event and we were going to this 30 something million dollar mansion on the ocean on A1A in Delray. Actually Manalapan Beach, Florida, which is between, in between Palm beach and Delray Beach. I invested. This is like early 2000s. I remember I was wearing white pants. I'll have to find the photo. If I can find it, it'll be up on the site and you can see it because that, that was the night. But I had white pants and a pink shirt on. This was pre pink before. It was cool for a guy to wear, right? But I was, I, I liked it. I like to be different. It was kind of my thing. But something changed. Like I said, I always wanted to be in a mansion. Where I come from, a mansion would be like 6,000 square foot, cost like 500 grand. Small town, Ohio, that would be like a mansion. But I stepped foot on this grass to walk down the driveway to this party. Getting goosebumps about it, even talking about it, because it changed my life. At that moment, my dreams just became closer. My goals. See the thing is, it's different when you think about it. It's different when you write it. But when you touch it, feel it and see it and smell it and connect with it, you start pulling yourself closer to what you want. I had no clue how to do it. 0 Several years later, I was sitting in a 16,000 square foot mansion with a brand new white Rolls Royce Phantom out front. And it was all mine. I had no clue. I didn't Have a plan. I didn't understand how it was possible. I mean, just managing the house cost 10,000amonth just to take care of basic stuff. Taxes, you know, paying the lawn care guy, the pool guy, the clean. I mean there's a lot of stuff there, right? Changing out lights, for God's sakes, every month. Zero clue. You got to remember back in 1996, one of my journey, my goal was to. My dream goal was to make a hundred thousand a year net. My dream goal. Now I'm sharing with you what I wanted to connect with. The mansions and the cars and all that stuff. I. I've always liked that. Lifestyles in the rich and famous. I' remember sitting in my mom and dad when I grew up in a trailer watching, you know, Robin Leech talk to famous successful people in different categories, but in their mansions, in their wealth and the yachts and the helicopter. Like I've always had a thing for. I've always kind of like drawn to it. We all have a thing and it's not a judgmental thing. If you want to go save, well, save wells. If I want to buy 50 cars, I buy 50 cars. It's not this or that. It can be all. But I want to share with you, this is what I still do today. If it's my health, if it's cars, if I'm trying to buy businesses, if it's yachts, maybe I want to tighten up my marriage. Maybe jets, you know, selling a company, buying companies. What I do is I, this is what I want. Like again, I have no fucking clue how I'm going to do. I'm going to buy a jet. So I said probably 10 years ago. And then what I did, I went to a DuPont registry event and there's like seven jets there, two helicopters, lots of cool cars. I was like, damn, that's a cool jet. And then I got to sit in the jet, I got to take a picture in the jet. I got to touch it, feel it, see it, smell it and connect with it. I still at this point have no clue what's happening because I'm in the euphoric state that I was just on a jet. I didn't go anywhere. We didn't even take off. It was sitting there and there's 100 other people in line to do the same thing. But it became. Started getting closer to me. And then you fast forward. Then I started. I was always flying first class, which was a big deal where I come from, mentally and financially. And then I flew private. I think my first private flight was 15, 18 grand, maybe 30. I don't remember, but it was a big deal. I'm sitting on this jet, flying private. I pull out my computer and I start working differently. I start thinking differently. My actions are more thoughtful, more on point. I'm not just trying to kill time. I'm trying to create time, trying to create revenue, to speed up my opportunity to get closer to this. I was in a time capsule, see if I'd go to the airport. I hated going to the airport, by the way. Absolutely hate it. I feel like a piece of shit. You know, these TSA people, they talk shit to you. They treat you like a dog. They act like. Like I feel guilty and I'm not even doing anything right, so. But you walk in the line, and I'm not saying all but a lot of them, but I'd walk in the line, take your shoes off, pull your belt off, do this, do that, touch your toes, bend over, whatever they do. And then I'm like, there. And my personality, I like to be there an hour and a half, two hours early, and I'm just killing time. I eat bad. Back then, I was having a couple drinks, waiting for the plane to come, and then there's a delay and this happens and that. You know what I mean? Right? So two hours of my life. And I dreaded each minute of it. Then I flew private. I go to the gate. Hey, tell number, blah, blah, blah, blah. Follow me. The cart comes out. I follow the cart. We pull beside the jet, unload the bags, give them a tip, give them the key, tell them where we're coming back, we get on the plane, we take off. I like that experience. Made me feel good, made me feel empowered. Made me feel like I was moving in the right direction. Made me realize that if you fly private, you're. You're leveling up your brain. Not just your finances, but both have to go together. Certain things, like time, to me, is very important. I'm not saying you have to fly private. I'm just saying, for me, I am flying private. It's important to me. I just told you I hate going to airports for that reason. If I hate it, why keep doing it? Well, because of the money. I care more about time than money. I believe and I know for a fact there's infinite amounts of money, finite amount of time I can spend. I'm going on a flight right now. It's almost 70 grand. Me and my wife and kids. This is round trip. I'm not bragging. I'm sharing the truth. Round trip for three days somewhere. I'll pull up to the jet, I'll get on, and we'll take off. I want to be clear though. I still feel weird about sending $70,000 wire for a four hour trip each way. It feels weird. I feel silly, I feel naive, I feel wasteful, I feel overwhelmed. I'm very excited. Our brain plays tricks on us, but my goal is to own a jet. I'm not there yet because I don't fly that much. So to sit in the hangar more than it'd be flying, and that's not good for jets. So I have timeline pieces with it. My kids are 7 and 3. When Dre gets probably 4, 6 or 7, I'm gonna start looking into it. Very serious. Taking action right now. We'll just charter four or five times a year and just be done with it. Let's say if I allocate, you know, a million dollars a year for flights, give or take, I gotta do that. Why? Because I'm gonna own a jet. To run a jet costs about a million dollars a year. If I'm not willing to fly right now without all the other expenses on the jet, this is just operating cost. Paying a million dollars a year. I'm in training right now. I'm in the gym. I'm working the muscles. You don't have to know how to accomplish the goal to write it down. I know a lot of people out there say, write goals that are attainable so you don't get disappointed, huh? The truth is, I think most people have goals that are easily attainable. That's why they're just eking along. This week alone, I've turned down several business deals that I could do to generate 500 to a million dollars net to me, minimum per year. The old mark, prior to where I'm at today. Twenty years ago, I would have been like cutting my left arm to do this deal. Now it's like, dude, it's a distraction. Making a million dollars in a business, to me is a distraction. This type of business, the one I was looking at, because I don't have the mental capacity. I don't. I don't want to commit the time that it would take to make that a million plus dollar business. It's already doing that and above, but like, you got to hire more people. The way I run company, like, I just look at it differently, right? No right or wrong, just that's what it is. My goals back in the day was the make 100 grand. Then it went to 500 grand. Then it went to a million. Now it's way more than that. But like, we're pushing. And I promise you, if you keep listening to the show, five years from now, I'm going to say, man, I should have been thinking bigger. I have this $50,000 a year group, small amount of guys, 36 people, 35 guys actually in this group, and it's called the DM family. All amazing entrepreneurs, you know, pushing boundaries every day. And these are semi highly functional guys doing some good stuff. Lots of employees, lots of business, lots of cool stuff going on. I sent him a big check in the mail and said, write down the five year liquid dollar amount you're going to have in your bank account. It's kind of a funny experiment because a lot of them struggled with it for months. Writing a number. Remember what I said? Touch it, feel it, see it, connect with it. See, when I say reach for your goals, you don't know if you truly are goal setting. The truth is you have no clue how it's going to happen. You just know it's a goal. Too many people are setting goals in their life and business. I want to lose three pounds. Huh? Just don't eat. One day you'll lose three pounds. It's easy. I want to make an extra 5% of revenue. Huh? 5%. I can't hire anybody to help me make 50%. 20%. 10. Like, there's so many easier ways to accomplish what you're trying to set out with your Mickey Mouse goals. See, the thing is you're doing it because you're egotistical. You're too afraid. You're protecting your ego from getting hurt because you don't accomplish your 5% increase in rev. I'd much rather have you fail at 50% and hit 25% because you'd be 400% higher than your shitty goal. See, it's a game. It's a mental twist. Do you want to set a 50% increase and fell and hit 25% increase, or do you want to set a 5%, pretty much guaranteed increase and be a winner? I didn't fail. I set a goal that's realistic. I accomplished my goals. Let's celebrate. Celebrate mediocre goals, huh? I used to do the same forever. I was doing it all the time. Do you think you're going to lose more weight more intentionally? If you're trying to lose £3 or £30, you're going to come with a way different effort at £30 than you are £3. I guarantee it. Cars Houses. I like that. I know it sounds materialistic. You know what's crazy, though? I like it. I buy them, but I don't give two about them. It doesn't define who I am. See, the thing is, it's funny. The people. Oh, it's about the money. They buy stuff, they hoard it and hold it on so tight. And it defines them. Gotta be honest with you, if I lost it all materialistic things, I'd have it back in more within 12 months. Because I'm not defined by the things I have. I'm defined by me and what I'm capable of. See, I don't care about the fucking roses. I don't care about the cars I'm buying. I like. I like it because it's neat to me and it's fun. These are goals I've had. Buy the H1 Alpha, turn it into an Omega, 800 horsepower, custom interior, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Spend 350 grand on this badass car that I'll probably put 10 miles a year on it. I want it. I don't care what you think. I don't care what anybody thinks. I'm just proud of myself that I had the balls to put down. It was my goal. More importantly, I had the balls to take action on it. Yes, you can buy an Alpha for less than 350 grand. Yes, I could have settled for 200,000. Got a pretty cool okay car. That's not what I wanted. I wanted a custom one that I put my thumb on, get close to it, get connected with it. See the jet? The jet I'm going to buy would be 1012 million for the first jet. I already know. I already have the collars picked out. The interior exterior, what the stitching looks like on the seating, what the carpet looks like, what the wood looks like on the. Around the. On the interior of the jet. What the tell is looking like, what the tell number is, what the logo looks like, what it's going to do for me and my family and the people I want to connect with. It allows me to connect with you better, quicker, smoother, more easy. Does that make sense? I can fly to a location on my time, my terms. I have a buddy that owns a jet. I talk to him all the time. He. He literally flies like six times a week. Literally. And he loves flying. Truth is, I hate flying. I genuinely don't like flying. I think I'm going to die every time I get in a plane. Which is silly, I know, but that's who I am. And I've flown a lot. But I talked to him. I'm like, dude, like you're on the plane line. He's like, dude, I'm moving. He's like, I don't believe and buy into the bullshit that we have to be like, you know, people are taking 45 commutes to the 45 minute commute to their job, which is like 12 miles down the road. California. I'm taking a 45 minute flight. I'm in a different state doing different deals, connecting with different people and then I jump on the jet after coffee and come back home and then I fly to another place, connect. Like he's just, he, he's thinking differently. I like to be around that. It inspires me. It gets me thinking different, gets me questioning my thoughts like we talked about last week, questioning my thoughts about what my goal should look like. And it's not judging. It's not like, well, that's what they want. That's what I want too. Well, maybe it is. There isn't. I'm just trying to understand what it looks like. It's always funny when I drove, like I drive the Rolls or whatever and someone like, oh my God, what? How many miles a gallon does that get? And I always laugh. True story. I don't even know what gas cost because it doesn't matter. And secondly, no one buying a Rolls Royce or multiple Rolls Royces is worrying about how many miles to a gallon a car gets. I've realized in early in life, thank God, knock on wood, that what we consume consumes us. If you're consuming, oh my God, gas prices are up, gas prices are down. Like it's going to take over your brain and that's what you're thinking about. You make everything about money. You don't understand value. You understand cost, but you don't understand value, right? I could fly to the same flight where I'm going. True story. I'm paying about 70 grand. I could take that. It's a four hour flight for me, direct each way, right on the jet. Or I could pay for all of us, probably about seven grand. But it'd take 11, 12 hours. One stop, a layover, it'd be first class. You understand that cost, right? 7,000 or 70,000. But do you understand the value? I'm saving six to seven hours of time. I'm doing something I love doing. I don't like going to the airport. So I'm not going to the airport. I'm going to the jet. So I'm saving two hours. There so now I'm saving nine hours of my life and I'm happier. And I can tell you, I promise you, when I get on that jet, I'm thinking I'm hanging out with the fan. But I'm also on the computer thinking about writing a book, making content, creating something of value. Because I like that feeling. It puts me in a new state of mind, as if I own it. I think I shared with you when I bought my first rolls at 30 years old. It took me 12 years to buy my first high end car. Rolls Royce Phantom. White with brown interior. And I remember I used to drive a 1987 Chevy truck. No air conditioning, tape deck with a CD plugged into it. Through the tape with the windows down, shitty truck, burning a quarter two oil a day, listening to Tony Robbins, improving my life, thinking of what I'm going to have, my goals. Rolls Royce Phantom. Back then I had a little bit more hair than I do now. I had to window down, wind blowing through my hair, it's 95 degrees. I'm sweating my ass off, but I'm happy as a pig. In. In my mind, I was driving a Rolls Royce Phantom. You couldn't have told me any different. When I was sitting in that 1987 Chevy C10. You couldn't have told me any different. I knew where I was going. I had no clue how I'd get there, but I knew I would buy one and own one one day. Set goals that are unrealistic in your brain. It's not unrealistic in the world, just in your brain. Because if it's unrealistic in the world, it wouldn't even exist. Rolls Royces are everywhere. If you're hanging out in the right places, jets are in every airport, right? Yachts. My first yacht experience, I. I chartered a yacht with a buddy of mine because I was scared to take down the whole yacht myself. He was scared too. We did it together. There's a lot of money. A lot. But I knew, one day I'm gonna own a yacht. I was on this 125 footer for 7 days. Changed my life. I rented, I went to a yacht show prior. Got close to it, touched it, felt it, saw it. Saw all the names on the back of the boats, wrote them down on my phone, went home and researched them. Who owns them? How much does it cost to buy? How many bedrooms, how many staterooms? How big's the beam? How many decks? Is there a hot tub on board? What's the distance? What's the range? Why is this 125footer cost this much and the other one doesn't. Oh, what's the age, what's the retro, what's the refit, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. All this stuff. I was at a yacht show and then I chartered. I remember going into the charter company in Palm beach on Worth Avenue. True story. Me and my wife, we're talking, I'm scared, I'm nervous, I don't even know what the fuck I'm talking about. I might chicken out, right? I'm like, yo, who do I speak to about chartering a yacht? I'm in flip flops, khaki shorts, in a white linen shirt with a nice watch. I didn't know that's how they tell you if you're serious or not. The guy showing up in a suit ain't renting a yacht. Typically they're paying attention to that stuff, but I digress. So I meet this lady, Katie. Katie hooks me up. She talks to me. She like I always thought, like, they talked down to me. I created this story in my head, but I was like it, I'm going in and see what happens. Super nice, amazing person. She has a little boy, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. I can tell you all kinds of stuff now because I've chartered from her multiple times. But I remember when I went in there and touched it, felt it, saw it, realized that it's a like, okay, now I can get. I can't buy a yacht for 50 million today, but I can charter for a hundred thousand. I can make sense of that in my brain. Not today maybe, but that's something I can go towards. And when you get on a yacht and you hang out for seven days in the beautiful Caribbean and you go bounce around on the little dinghy, Actually when I say little 34 foot dinghy, you're hanging out the fam. Connecting, disconnected from the world, no Internet, none of that BS became real. I've chartered many yachts. I will buy a yacht again. I'm just not there yet. I wouldn't use it. Probably everyone I turn around, 50, I'll have a yacht. 50, 55. I'm telling you, I still don't know. I still don't know when, but I will have one. That's all timing, but I can charter two, three times a year now, which we typically do at least once. Once you know what you want. What I want you to do is write down your crazy goals. I want to make a million a month. I can tell you right now, I know a lot of people make More than a million a month net. It's doable is what I'm saying. I want to make a hundred grand a month. Dream bigger. 100 grand a month, nothing. If you're building a real company, a hundred grand a month is only three months away from disaster. Three bad months because you burn up some cash in a negative time like that. I'm not saying if you're making 10 grand a month, that's not good. That's, that's where you're starting at. We gotta grow. But what do you want? What's your vision board, by the way? Your vision board is your goals that are so over the top. I want a six pack abs, show the picture of a guy or girl with the abs that you want. The body you want, the clothes that you like, the cars you like, the houses you like, the charities you want to give the animals, you want to have the kids you want to have the amazing family life that you want to build. Write them down. Maybe you have a shitty husband, wife relationship right now, but you want to put on your vision board. I want to be a better husband, I want to be a better dad, I want to be a better brother, I want to be a better cousin, better uncle all. I want to be better. I want to be a better friend and get to work, get around great friends. Like get around that guy or girl and say, dude, this guy has. Everyone loves this person, everyone. I want to be like that. In that category. Get around the husband and wife to hold hands that make out. I'm not saying in a disgusting way, but in a real way. Like they love each other, they connect with each other, they talk to each other. One thing I'm proud of, I shared with you on my anniversary. But my wife and I, you know, our kids, you know, we want to lead by example. My wife came up with a great idea. We just had our eight year anniversary of being married, 17 years together actually. And we're sitting there and we read a letter to each other, you know, out loud in front of the kids. Obviously they're seven and three. Like that's. Yeah, yeah, you know, whatever, but just fun. One or two page letter like, Dina, I remember the time I walked in and saw you like just sharing a story. The kids are listening. They're seeing how mom and dad love each other, how we're talking, how we're laughing, how I'm always crying because I'm this very emotional guy. Not balling, but little tears here and there. I love my family deeply. I want to be a Better dad. I always want to be a better husband. I always want to be a better brother. I always want to be a better son. I always want to be a better friend. These are things I'm always looking to improve upon. Find this couple that you want to connect and, like, that's the kind of couple I want to model. Get around the jets, get around the yachts, get around the cars, get around the charities, get around the great givers. It's one thing I take great pride in as well. I have worked very hard to become a giver in life. I want to give my time and energy to the right people. I want to give back in a big way on charity. Last, like, at my birthday bash event, we gave over $500,000 away because I held a party and designed it that way, to give. Not just me, but all of us give. We can give so much more as a collective. And it's important to me because I can show you how to give more. You give more, and hopefully you carry on that feeling because it feels pretty good when you give. It's scary, but it's good. What's wild is today in my life, I give away more money in a year than I ever dreamt about making in a year when I first started. Truth is, for the first six years, I didn't even think about giving money away. I was like, dude, I need all the money I can get. I don't have any money. I don't know how to do it. I don't even. I thought if I gave, it took from me. We all know that's not true. If you give, you get back. I'm not saying give recklessly. I'm not, but sometimes it feels recklessly. One of the first times I gave big, it was 25 grand. I was half. Half liquored up. I got excited. I wanted to do something crazy. I've been thinking about it. I've been in the mental jungle in the gym, thinking about it, grinding about, like, I got to give. I got to do more. I got to be better. I got to share. I got to lead by example. When I did 25 grand, I looked at my wife, Dina. She was my girlfriend, and I'm like, oh, my God. I think I just did that. I went to the room. I was kind of, like, scared. 25 grand wasn't going to change my life, but it changed my life in a good way, because giving 25 grand became normal. Now giving more becomes, like. It just becomes normal. It's normalizing. It's kind of like when you bought your first car, you remember how scared you were. It's kind of like when you moved in your first apartment. You're so excited. You had the crate, you had the tv, you had a shitty futon bed or a couch or whatever. It was awesome. You're not going back there anytime soon. That was a dream to get out of the house with mom and dads. Now you're there. Now it's like, I'm not going back. And then you bought your second car. And then you bought a brand new car. You're like, oh my God, 400amonth. This is insane. And now you don't buy a car for less than 600amonth. 800amonth, or maybe pay cash. Hopefully you do. You've normalized your growth at all levels. Some are doing it consciously. Very few do. Most are doing it subconsciously. They're just going through the motions. I hope that's not you. If you're at the show listening, you know you're capable of more. Like, I remember I was like, dude, I want to make a million dollars a year. I said in my office in Columbus, Ohio, on Reed Road, keep mine. I was paying $750 a month for this office. I was scared when I first signed that lease. I'm like, dude, this guy's going to believe me. I, I don't. I hope I can pay it. I never didn't pay him. I always paid him. But that's what we do to ourself. 750amonth. I used to make, want to make a million? A million a year. That was my, like, if I could make a million dollars a year, I'm done for life. I'm set. If you fast forward now, I spend a million a month just on expenses. Business stuff, marketing people, commissions, problems. Right? I'm not sharing this to br. Like minimum, a million a month. That's like minimum. It's normal now though. Think about that. I wanted to make a million, now I spend a million a month, minimum. It's funny, I was at a boti. My neighbor across the street has a bunch of older guys come over for botchy. Last night was his last day of the year kind of thing. So a lot of people get there, about 70 guys, old school guys, 70, 80 year old guys. I always love hanging out with older guys. These are a couple business guys over here and just connect with them. I, I, they, they have so much knowledge and wisdom. And I go over there, they don't know who I, some of them know who I Am. But some, most don't. And we just talk and connect. Nor does it matter who I am. I'm a nobody, right? So. But we're, we're connecting. And his name's Chuck. Such a good dude. And he's the guy hosting it. And I'm sitting there and another guy comes up. Bob. He's a big time, big, big time lawyer. Like he's in his mid-80s, old school, has a lot, a lot of people in his life in business. And he's like the dm. Keep in mind, I've only met him twice. He lives diagonal from me. And he's like, I did a little, did a little researching on you, Evans, and super nice guy. But anyways, he's like, man, he's like, my sons have taken my business to another level. It's their business now, but it's amazing what you young kids do. His kids are 51 and 53, I believe. And he's like, we, our, our co. Our hard cost, our, our just churn rate a month is, you know, low over a million bucks. It's like, that's awesome. He's like, I know it is. And I looked at him and we started laughing. I was like, what's awesome about that? That means you're making a couple more dollars than that. See, the thing is, I used to think if I spent $10, I can't make $12. I used to think I had to make nine and spend eight. It was a weird thing. I played with myself in my brain. I want to keep expenses down. Well, you can only control so much expenses. I can dream bigger than my expenses. See, if you spend a million dollars a month like normal, it's like normal month. Collectively, you're probably making more than a million a month. In business, he's probably making 4x that, maybe more. That means he's generating 4 or 5 million a month in gross rev. His hard cost is a million. So he's able to generate a net profit of 3 or 4 million a month. Now all of a sudden you're thinking, huh, a million a month's not that bad. I'd spend a million a month if I could make four a month. Well, this happens at all levels. Spending 10 grand a month to make 40 grand a month, spending 40 grand a month to make, you know, 100amonth, etc. See, the thing is, I see a lot of people and I'm paying attention to most of you. You're holding back on your expenses because you're looking at it as an expense not an investment. If I hire a great person that can make us money, if I can pay five grand to someone a month and they can make the company 20 grand a month or 50 grand a month or whatever your formula is on that revenue. That's not an expense, that's an investment. I'm always amazed at people because I'm a real estate guy originally. But I could buy a house for a hundred grand and sell it for 120 and make 20 grand. I'm a genius. But I won't hire someone for 100 grand a year to make me 500 grand a year. That's risky, huh? That doesn't even make sense. Well, it kind of does, depending where you're at in your brain, who you're rolling with. See, I always used to say, I don't want to make. I don't want to have a lot of employees and blah, blah, blah, blah. Dude, I love my employees. I want more. I love. Because if you're an employee of mine, we're working together, you're pushing hard, you're growing, you're expanding the brand, you're expanding the company. You're a team member, you're part of an organization that actually cares. I love employees. But I had to reengineer my brain. I had to unprogram and reprogram on how to look at this differently. What is your goals? What are your goals? You got to pull it closer to you. Pull it closer. I remember when I wanted to start buying companies on purpose. I started hanging out with merger and acquisition attorney type people. I started to hang out with business brokers. I started connecting and listening, learning the language, you know, what's your cogs, what's your this, what's your that, Blah, blah, blah. This is. In the early 2000s, the Internet didn't exist like it does now. I. You can learn this online now in 15 minutes. But I actually had to get up, get dressed, go out into public and meet these people and learn in the trenches. Now I could sit at home and watch a YouTube video and kind of know what, what the lingo is of acquiring a company, selling a company. Do I want to do it as a stock purchase or an asset purchase? Don't want to buy it or sell it. Like, but, you know, there's so many variables. Is this an esop? Is it not? Set your goals bigger. Set your goals so big you have no clue how to accomplish them. It sounds bass ackwards, I know. Now, I'm not saying you shouldn't have targets on the journey. Because the last thing, and my heart hurts even thinking about it, is if I meet you and you're like, dude, I'm 25 years in business and I make 150 grand a year, I might start crying immediately for you. Because no one in their right fucking mind in 25 years in the game of business is really doing business if they're only making 150 grand a year. It sounds mean. Because it's fucking the truth. That to me, shows you had zero insight. You've settled for way less than you're capable of and you haven't really built anything because making 100, you can do that as a job. You've lied to yourself for 25 years if you think that's a big, big deal. I want you to work smarter. I'm not saying not to work hard, but work smart and hard together, you will accomplish so much great shit you don't even know you're even capable of. What are your goals? Your secret ones that you're afraid to tell people because if you do, they might laugh at you. By the way, if they're laughing at you, you probably should rearrange your circle of friends. If it's your spouse, you need to start dreaming with them together so they understand where you're coming from. See, you know you failed a bunch of times. They might know you failed a bunch of times, but this time's different. Connect with them. Deepen the thought process. Deepen the connect. Like, show them where your brain's at on this journey. More importantly, show them. Don't fucking just talk about it. Show them. Create the result. Create the reality. Become the person you need to become. To get that jet, to get that car, to get that money, to go on that vacation, to pay off this bill or that bill to buy the house. Like, whatever it is, if you want to lose weight, stop talking about it. Get the work and let the work show up in results. I know you have it in you. If you didn't, you wouldn't still be here listening. It's going to be weird. It's going to be scary. Stop trying to fucking figure it out before you write it down. On 125 foot yacht. Boom. Write that fucking thing down. Start learning and then start. Like when you're hanging out and you got this idle time, pull out your phone instead of looking at Instagram and tick tock or whatever you look at, go on Google and type in 125 yacht for sale. Learn about them. Understand the brands, understand the clout. Like, because there are Nissan style yachts and there's Rolls Royce style yachts. It means something in the yachting community. Maybe you start off small and then grow up into a big boy one, a big girl one. It's a process, it's a journey. But it starts with you. You're if you know how to accomplish your goal, you haven't set a big enough goal. Every goal I have, I have zero clue how I'm gonna do it. I have kind of a simple thought process. I remember, excuse me, in the DM fam, a guy came to me, one of the guys, he's like, dude, he's making about a couple hundred thousand a month net. He came to me, he's like, dude, I have no clue, but I'm gonna make a million a month. Like clockwork in the next 12 months. I was like, that's awesome, man, I believe you. I didn't know how he was going to do it. He didn't know how he was going to do it. But I believed him and he believed it. He makes about two and a half million a month now, net. Within 10 months he hit his million dollar a month. When you said it, you start seeking it. He started hanging out with guys. Guys, listen. You can talk and hang out with people making $10 an hour, a hundred dollars an hour. A million dollars a month. 10 million a month. The guy he was hanging out with was making 26 million net a month. Don't you think that up leveled him, got him thinking and what's crazy? It's not crazy actually. It's what's what happened. It's in an industry he didn't even know anything about. What are you capable of if you don't have what you want? It's not because it doesn't exist. It's because you haven't set a goal or a massive dream and you haven't taken the action steps to accomplish it. But Mark, you said you don't know how to do it. I didn't say you're going to accomplish that goal, but you got to accomplish the habits. The habits are going to form the reality of the. You're going to start getting results, you're going to create bigger habits, bigger results. And before you know you're going to wake it up and you're like, fuck, I should have said 10 million a month instead of a million a month. And then you figure out 10 million a month is accomplishable. And then you go for that. Get around it, touch it, feel it, see it, smell it, pull it closer, challenge you to sit down and write this shit out. Better yet, take screenshots, print the shit off, put it on a board, put it on your mirror. Put it everywhere you see it everywhere you go. See it like my normal is what my dreams were. 20. I didn't even know this was a dream. Truth is, to be honest, my life now is what I didn't even dream about because it was so over the top. I didn't even know what I'm sharing with you. I'm just hardheaded and hungry and pushing and grinding and working and pushing and failing and growing and learning and lesson after lesson. I. E. Some call losses. I call them lessons. I just kept my feet moving. I could buy one on what when I want. I could buy the jet now. If I wanted cash, I could buy the yacht cash. I could buy the cash. But my, that's only a small goal now. That's like a whatever goal that's accomplishable goal. I want to give away a billion dollars. Billion dollars with a B. I want to give away collectively with me and my connections like you, as I evolve before I die, over a billion dollars to charities to help the people that don't have what we have. That gets me excited. I have no clue I'm going to do it. That's why I'm excited about it. I want all my employees to be worth millions of dollars each. I'm talking all the way down from the bottom to the top. I want to change their family's financial tree forever through my vision, through my efforts, through my goals, through my dreams to make their dreams and goals a reality. What are you chasing? What are you dream chasing? What are you catching? What are you growing? What are you pushing for? It's exciting, isn't it? Please, please. If you never listen to any of these shows again, this is the piece that you must start doing. I don't write down my goals daily. I know some people do. I don't do it. I had these things so fucking anchored in my brain from repetition. I think about it all the time. If I buy something, how do I give? See, it's not. I buy a car. I don't just fucking buy a car. I want to give money. When I buy a car to charity. I want to anchor it with positivity. I want to anchor with my big vision. A car is just a car. You'll see what I got in about five months. I'm up to something, but I want to use my voice for impact. Impact for accomplishment. To accomplish my billion dollar plus give I want to inspire people. I want to connect with people. I want to grow with people. I want to meet you in 10 years from now. And you're like, dude, this fucking show changed my life. I got a text today, a guy's like, dude, holy shit. Two months ago, you told me this over a phone call. I did it. It fucking worked. I bought a property. I actually got paid to buy a property. And I cash flowed every month. I'm just getting started. And I'm like, of course it works. I know it works because I've done it thousands of times and so has many other people. It doesn't take anything away from me to guide someone to be better. It actually enhances me because guess what? That fucker makes more money. He gets in my inner circle, he gives more money away. He becomes a part of my billion dollar vision, my billion dollar plan. I'm not chasing the money. I'm chasing the vision. The big goal, the big dream. I need your help. I need you to dream bigger. I need to dream bigger. I need to push harder. I need to connect with more people. So do you folks. I'm in this game 26 years and change. And I'm telling you right now, stay tuned, because I'm just getting started. I'm just learning what I'm sharing at another level. I'm on the journey with you. Don't look at me and think, oh, I want to be. No, I want you to be bigger than me at my age. I want you to expedite to get to where I'm at. Took me 26 years to get here. I want you to do it in 10. I want to shave time. I want to give you a time value that's worth a lot. Appreciate you being here. Set those goals, write them down. If you don't have anybody share them with them, share them with me. I'd love to hear about them. Hit me up on Instagram arkevansdm, let me know. I'm excited to hear about your dreams. So with that said, make today.
