In this 2009 YouTube video, the instructor (Speaker A) addresses the graduates of Given's Dance Studio and leads them through a complete choreography set to Chicago’s song “Old Days.” The session begins with a brief introduction, then outlines the opening formation (cross‑touch, wave, high‑five) and proceeds through a detailed, count‑by‑count breakdown of the entire routine. The instructor describes footwork, directional moves (Lindy, push‑up, kicks, drags, windmills, pencil turns), transitions, and formation changes (sashay, pas de bourrée, pivots) while emphasizing timing (8‑count waits, specific counts for each step) and stage positioning. Demonstrations are provided by Carrie, the instructor’s daughter. The walkthrough includes cues for practicing with the music, instructions for pose sequences (arms up/down, head‑hand positions), and final movement cues that lead back to the opening step. The tone is instructional and supportive, aiming to prepare the graduates for a coordinated performance.

Hi, all you graduates of Given's Dance Studio. We are inviting you to do a dance. It's called Old Days, and Carrie, my daughter that's grown up a lot since probably you saw her last, is going to be demonstrating it for you, and I'm going to tell you what we're doing, and then we're going to have some practice, and I'll give you more information later. So here's Carrie. This is the Old Days by Chicago. We're going to wait 8 counts. And then you're going to do cross touch, starting right foot. Cross touch, cross touch, cross touch, cross touch. Just enough time to get you on stage. Then you're going to see— we're going to come on from both sides. We're going to see each other and you're going to wave, and then you're going to run to each other. And your classmate, whatever we're going to do, like, so you're going to work up some kind of high five or something to greet each other, and then you're going to face front, ready to dance. And then we're going to do step Step together, step, clap, step together, step, clap, snap, up, up, down, down, pivot, turn, pivot, turn. And then you do that again. Step together, step, snap, not clap, I'm sorry, I said that wrong. Snap, up, up, down, down, pivot, turn, pivot, turn. Okay? So you've got that and everything starts on the right foot. Everybody will be facing front while we're doing this together. Okay, then the second step is, Lindy to the right, push up and then turn, 2, 3, point your toe and then kick, cross, ball, change, kick, cross, ball, change. Then do that again, Lindy, push up on the ball, change, turn, 2, 3, point, kick, cross, ball, change, kick, cross, ball, change. And then you are going to drag. Move up a little bit because we're going to be pulling back, and then we drag, fall, change, windmill, and pencil turn, and walk back, back. Okay, let's do that again because— and when you do pencil turn, both arms up. Okay, so we're going to go drag, fall, change, and then windmill to the left, and then pencil turn, step on it, and then the second time you're going to walk 2, 3, 4 to a circle. And we'll get you where you're going to go on the circle. Everybody does it on the same foot, it's just where you go on the circle. And then we're going to go drag, cross, drag, cross, sashay, and pas de bourrée, and then pivot turn and sashay to the middle and pivot turn. Sashay back outside, drag, drag, sashay, pas de bourrée, pivot turn and sashay to the middle and pivot turn and sashay out. Then you just turn and walk in, 2, 3, 4, up, 2, 3, 4, walk back, 2, 3, 4. Then you're gonna walk in, 1, 2, 3, 4. Then it's gonna be like you're talking and you're saying hey and you're just being silly. And then I'm going to break it up because I'm going to be on stage with you guys. I'm going to break it up and you're going to just run back to your place and then you're going to repeat that first step. Step together, step and step together, step and up, up, down, down and pivot, turn, pivot, turn and do it again. Oh, I'm sorry. That's right. We go, we run out and we do the poses. That's not yet. Okay, so we're going to go pose. Both arms up, pose, and both arms down, and then pose with your head between— behind— right hand behind your ear, and then switch, and your arm is up, and you're just doing step touch, step touch, just lunging 4 times, up, down, right, left, and then pivot, turn, pivot, turn, cross, point, and then you do that again, pose, Pose, pose, pose, pivot, turn, pivot, turn, cross, touch, cross, and then you go back to the first step. Okay, all right, all right, let's try it with the music.
