Mark Simpson (YouTube, Sep 6, 2023) advises hosts to immediately log into their OTA (Airbnb, Booking, VRBO, HomeAway, Expedia) listings and review the amenities section. He highlights that Airbnb is testing a global search filter for Wi‑Fi speed, so hosts should ensure their amenities (especially Wi‑Fi speed) are up to date to remain relevant in search.
Number one, you can log on to your OTAs right now, the quickest way, the simplest way, the the one that you can make a difference right now. Go on to all of your listings, go on to all of your accounts, whether that's Airbnb booking, Expedia, VRBO, HomeAway, anywhere, and go and look at the amenities section. I know for a fact that Airbnb are looking to change their filters in on their search that is going to reflect WI fi speed very, very soon. They are trying to put it into practice on a global scale, but they're going to be doing it testing at different locations. So number one, what does this tell me is that they are looking at adding new amenities in. So if you haven't done so in the past week or the past month, login and make sure that your listing is relevant.
