A short excerpt from a YouTube video by Mark Simpson (uploaded Sept 5, 2023) discussing property partnership standards. The speaker emphasizes prioritizing quality over quantity: they will decline properties they judge unlikely to deliver satisfactory returns or that are substandard, citing the risk of damaging their brand and generating poor reviews.
We'd like to be able to help out the owner, but sometimes you just have to advise them that it's not suitable. We would. We will never take on a property now that we're. If we're not confident that it will generate the returns that them and us would be happy with, we just won't advise them to go down that route. Now. We don't. Pretty early on, we would. I kind of had it in my head, right. We have to have a certain standard here, because it's not worth it. If you take on a property which is substandard, you're going to damage your brand. You're going to have give yourself a whole headache of bad reviews. It will hurt you. So, yeah, we do have a certain set of standards, and we do occasionally have to turn properties down for the right reasons.
