Short clip from a March 2023 YouTube video (Mark Simpson / Sean Rakidzich) discussing a strategy to increase direct bookings and reduce reliance on Airbnb fees. Sean plans for 2023 to have ~50% of his income from direct-booking websites and mentions creating a Host Camp direct-booking website with Mark.
There's no reason why you can't be getting 50 to 75% of your business just from those channels. And then you cut out the middleman, and then you cut out the thing that people hate the most about Airbnb, which are the fees, or you keep a little bit of the fees for yourself? My plan for 2023 is I would love for 50% of my income to come from direct booking websites. And I'm actually working on this for myself personally, but a really big initiative of mine, and I was very anti this, to be honest, but Mark brought me to the dark side, and we're actually going to be creating, like, a host camp website, direct booking website.
