A short monologue from a YouTube video by Mark Simpson (uploaded April 15, 2023) offering practical advice for short-term rental hosts. This chunk emphasizes the importance of adaptability when guests behave unexpectedly, advising hosts not to micromanage minor incidents visible on cameras if there is no damage.
It's really important to be adaptable because things are going to go in ways that you did not expect or did not want them to go. Some of the ones that I see people complain about on Facebook groups all the time is they're watching their camera and they saw somebody did something they didn't want them to do that they never would have known that they did had they not watched their camera, didn't damage anything or anything like that. So if you are somebody who can't just kind of roll with the punches and let that slide, as long as there is no damage and, you know, not micromanage people and this business is going to be very difficult for you.
