Short first-person account by Dave describing how he entered the serviced-accommodation (short-term rental) business. He says he has been in the business for about 15 years and that it began as an apprenticeship helping his parents with their properties (cleaning, meeting guests) when they were on holiday.
I've been in service accommodation business for about 15 years. It started off as a bit of an apprenticeship, really. My parents actually had a few properties way, way, way back. I wasn't really in it at the time, but I was helping out. When they would go on holidays, I would help out with the cleaning, I would meet the guests and it was like an apprenticeship in the family business.
