A multi-speaker Clubhouse-style discussion about how blockchain/Web3 could change the short-term rental (STR) industry. Key themes: returning data ownership to property owners (reducing reliance on centralized PMS/channel-manager APIs), the gradual transition from Web2 to Web3, and emerging experiments in tokenized real-estate (e.g., RealT) that let people buy tokens representing fractional ownership and share rental income. Speakers note the space is experimental but expanding, and foresee tokenization entering vacation rentals.

So pretty much the idea of Trip is to become a replacement, but then we will still use, for example, our property management softwares to run everything. The thing is, really, you're aiming for us to take back ownership of our data and just keep all the information to ourselves. If I'm making it kind of like.
A long story short, well, for a few years, five or 10 years is going to be, you know, there's not a date where Web three shuts off and we have, sorry, Web two shuts down and then we have Web three. In the same way, there are still Web one websites around. Right. So as long as there's accounts owned by companies and the data is siloed, so the availabilities are in their hands and the listings are in their hands. We're going to need to synchronize them through PMS, but in a futuristic web 3 only situation. And by that time we're going to have probably Web4 and who knows, what is it? But in that situation, no, because the availabilities are only in your hands and everybody can read them, and the listings are only in your hands and everybody can read them. So you won't need synchronization because the data is not closed. Data is open. Right. All this fragmentation which we are going through today is because every company, every corporation takes our data and they keep it for themselves. They don't. They control the access to the data. So that's why a pms, a channel manager, needs an API permission, API, and say, okay, please give me the availabilities. And. And so they are also under the control of these corporations in a way. I don't know if that answers your question.
No. Yeah, it does, it does. Have you looked into, or do you know anybody that is looked into creating a coin with the intention of purchasing vacation rentals? So almost making like a real estate fund that is based on. On a coin that people can then buy into, which is kind of like a idea that it's kind of forming as you were, as you were talking. It's almost like a timeshare kind of model, but with the coin that is then attached to a property.
Yeah, there's. Well, first, this space is exploding with ideas and experiments and projects. Right. So we're not doing that part. Somebody else is doing it. There's a company called Real T or Real IT, which is purchasing houses in the States, I think in the Detroit area. You just buy a few coins and you own a little bit on the house, and then they rent it. They rent it for, you know, residential, and you earn. So the coin is a value connected to the house and then the rent is sent to the token holders. So you have, I don't know, 10% in coins of that house and you also get 10% of the rent. So this is happening and I'm pretty convinced that because the technology is better, we are going to be able to form. Let's say somebody could buy, you know, you could say I want to buy a great villa in Italy or 10 villas, but I don't have access to money. So why don't we collect the money and then we tokenize it, right? And then I want to be part of this and I'm going to simply buy €100 of this project. Even if it's a million euro project, I, I own a very small percentage and then I'm gonna be, I'm gonna share with you the, the income, right? So yeah, that's gonna happen for sure. It's happening already. It's gonna come in our industry too. And this is basically just this one is one idea. Any one of us could take and make a business for the next 10 years in vacation rentals because nobody has done it.
Having a blast. Gonna get it on the Bruce Lee podcast. Bruce Lee, like Bruce Lee. Cuz it's so hard and the T is loosely making up those rhymes. Don't write it, just do it loosely.
