A simple system using a desk calendar and color-coded Post-its to track bookings by channel and lead time. Record the channel, dates, price, and how far in advance each booking came in, then look for patterns in when customers actually book and which channels drive sales.

If you do buy a calendar, like I said, the one that goes on the desk that has June, January, February, March, April, May, June, maybe even has all 12. And you buy colored Post it notes and you just every time you get a booking, you can even write the channel at the top, the number of dates, the average length of stay, or the average like the average nightly price for the length of stay and how many days in the future they booked and they go put that post it note 45 days out and then put the post it 10 days out. You will find holes in your booking strategy which where you're not getting any bookings from 45 days to 70 days out or something like that. If you color code these Post it notes to be per channel too, you'll notice heat maps like a bunch of blue Post it notes are in the 10 day to 20 day range and that's Airbnb. A bunch of Post it notes that are pink are from like 60 days to 90 days. And that's like your direct bookings. Color coding them can let you know where your customers are coming from and how far in advance they like to book. The most important thing that you can do, and Mark talks about this plenty, is understanding who your customer is, why they're going to book with you and when they could.
