YouTube interview (uploaded Sept 11, 2023) in which Amanda discusses her experience moving from listing on Airbnb to building direct-booking websites. In this excerpt she summarizes lessons learned: vet developers who build your direct site, invest in a professionally built website (this was her third), and keep accurate financial records from the start.
If you was to go back and give yourself a piece of advice at the start on how you get started in this area, what what would you say to yourself?
Oh, man. Well, I mean, we started with only being on Airbnb, and then we went and then we, you know, we partnered up with with Guesty, which ended up being a little crazy. And then we've been through I think we're on our third website right now, like, actually paying to have someone build out a website. And it was it's been a learning experience. And finally, we've got one that, like, I'm happy with, you know. So I would say, you know, vetting out whoever it is that's building out your direct site, just getting all of that, you know, the foundation built, keeping your books on point from the very beginning. That's huge.
