A short spoken reflection (YouTube video) about challenges the speaker faces adapting to a new house they own but have not continuously lived in; main point: unexpected problems arise because they lack experience living in the house over extended periods (weeks to years).
I think the biggest challenge for us thus far has been getting prepared for the things that will go wrong. We own our primary residence that we live in, but it's just so different when stuff happens in a house that, like, the reality is we've never lived in the house. We've been there many, many, many times and we love going there, but we haven't lived for a period of a month, six months, a year in a house to see how everything reacts. A lot of the issues that we've run into have just been around, like us being new to this house.
