My Top Tip To Welcome Guests in 2021 🚀

Mark Simpson recommends placing QR codes throughout your rental to guide guests to reviews, wifi credentials, and digital guidebooks. He's seen it work since 2014, especially when you put one by the router and another at the back door for TripAdvisor reviews.

Okay, welcome. My name is Mark Simpson and I give hosts just like you the tools, the tactics, the training and the confidence to get more direct bookings. We are in our new office. As you can see, me and my wife are currently moving things around. We are yet to get a picture for this frame, but my good friends at Hostfully asked me for my top tip for welcoming guests. And my answer to this, and I'm sharing it with everybody is QR codes. QR codes are one of our secret sources into how we got so many bookings and how we could grow our ranking on TripAdvisor purely because when we had guests enter the property on the back of the door, we had a QR code. And next to it was a lovely little laminate saying please at any point review your stay, simply scan this code. And this was back in 2014, 2015 when QR codes is very new technology, especially with phones. Now the technology has expanded so much that all you have to do is hold up your phone to a QR code and it will take you to that URL. QR codes are free to design, super easy to print, super easy to implement. I also recommend, and this is a big bugbear of mine, is having to get connected to the wifi when I arrive at a property. You should have your QR code really prominent, maybe near the router on the back of the fridge or something like that and just say WI fi code scan here. It's super simple to implement. A simple Google search will show you how to put this in practice. But again, as far as guest experience goes, little things like that are super key also as well. Seeing that we're talking to about hostfully, our amazing friends and podcast sponsor use a QR code to take people to your digital guidebook. Really powerful. Your digital guidebook is everything. It's everything that you should have in 2021 and beyond. If you don't have a digital guidebook, you are going to get left behind. So a QR code, again we'll just take them simply to there so so they can find out everything about your property, about the things nearby. So I hope that helped.
