A short spoken opinion on remote work arguing that people prefer working remotely and that instead of creating dedicated home offices, individuals and organizations should optimize existing spaces — e.g., ensure strong Wi‑Fi and provide areas suitable for laptop use — because nobody wants to sit at a boring desk.
The reality is people don't want to feel like they're in an office. The reason people aren't going back to their offices is because they enjoy working remotely. I think it's less important to carve out, like, a desk, a super nice workstation, and it's more important to make sure that you have excellent WI fi and make sure there are spaces that are conducive to setting up a laptop, optimizing the spaces that you do have rather than feeling like you have to create a new dedicated workspace. No one wants to just sit at a boring desk.
