A short YouTube video segment (uploaded by Mark Simpson) featuring Simon Anderson offering practical advice to private short-term rental hosts: trust your instincts, do not undervalue your property, consider a three-night minimum stay, and use damage deposits to protect the home. The tone is encouraging and confidence-building for independent hosts.
If you personally, as a private host, have a fantastic property, you believe in it, you spent time on it. It's a home from home. You know, you look around and you can I put it up there for a reason? I hope the guest enjoys this and I really hope that they love this. Just go with your gut on it. Don't undervalue the property. Don't be scared to offer a three night minimum stay. Don't be scared to, you know, put in a little damage, deposit all the things that you might think that might discourage people to book. I think you should have the confidence to go for it and believe in your property.
