Mark Simpson (speaker) discusses the return of the "true" shoulder season in travel. He contrasts what happened during 2020–2021 and much of 2022—when travel rebounded quickly and so-called shoulder/slow seasons were extended—with an expectation that renewed uncertainty will restore a more pronounced, traditional shoulder (slow) season.
But I think what it also means is that we're going to get a return of the the shoulder season, like the true shoulder season. What happened in 2020, 2021. And for the most part, in 2022, the shoulder season, aka the slow season or the peak season, was extended because, like, the travel and was so bouncing back so quick and people were sort of not being able to stay in hotels or not going on cruises. And this the season that we we sort of all got too used to was being extended. I think that what will happen with everything that's going on and all the uncertainty, as Brandy mentioned again, we will go back to that, sort of have a slow season shoulder season, a true one.
