Short excerpt from a YouTube interview (uploaded by Mark Simpson, Jan 30, 2023) in which the guest describes the biggest challenge of running a short-term rental: preparing for things that go wrong in a property they themselves have not lived in full-time, and the difficulty of anticipating how a house responds when inhabited for extended periods.
What has been the biggest challenge that you faced since launching your short term rental, and how have you overcome it?
I think the biggest challenge for us thus far has been getting prepared for the things that will go wrong, you know, because we, we own our, you know, our primary residence that we live in. But it's just so different when stuff happens in a house that, like, the reality is we've never lived in the house. You know, we've, we've been there many, many, many times, and we love going, but we haven't lived for a period of, you know, a month, six months, a year in a house to see how everything reacts and how, you know, how the house responds to people being in it. Basically.
