A short excerpt from a YouTube video ("Why Hospitality TRUST is So Important") in which two speakers discuss why human trust matters. They assert that trust operates subconsciously to protect us and prevent bad decisions; everyday choices (e.g., restaurants, babysitters) are driven by this subconscious trust evaluation.
Why is trust so important for people? You know, what is it within the process? Why do we feel we need that trust?
You know, the way that the human brain works is there. It's there for protection, for stopping us making crazy, stupid decisions. It's subconscious. It's driven from the subconscious. You use trust in everyday life without even thinking about it. Even what restaurant you go to, what babysitter do you trust to look after your kids? So subconsciously, you're always driving. Your whole subconscious mind is always asking the question, you know, to protect, am I making the right decision here?
