Madison met Mark at the Shorties after Hospitable Hosts came out, read the book, and saw the community response. Both wanted to push the industry past the same old conference booths and webinars. Madison joined the next project because they shared that drive to experiment and see what actually works.
Why did you want to be involved in the book and how did it all come about? When I was at the Shorties, I met Mark when I was at the Shorties. They were actually celebrating the publication of Hospitable Hosts. They just got all these amazing people together to tell their story. And I actually read the book and I saw just how the community responded to that book and was like, how do I get involved in the next one? And I think Mark and I are on the same page where we want to push the industry's boundaries. And I think a lot of the older companies in the space that are doing very well have gotten stuck in their ways a little where they buy a booth at the conference, they do webinars, and they stick to the status quo. They're like, that's worked. Let's not change it. And I am a believer of let's do things and see if they work.
